santa the thing about any Hermes bag is that as long as you look after it, it will always be an investment. Each year the cost to buy a new one increases and they always have a pretty good resell if you get fed up with it.
There are a lot of things I regret not buying years ago because they were a lot more affordable back then and I think that will continue with high end items regardless of any deflation we might have!
If you have the money and you love it... I would buy it...

Karbea · 17/02/2015 17:54

What do you think of something like this?

In other news... My leather leggings have arrived!!!!

Karbea · 17/02/2015 18:07

Or just one big one like that?

OneLittleLady · 17/02/2015 18:08

I'm sorry all for being a moping minny of late. Just a bit stressed between the insomnia, course work and family stuff

The Great sandal Mystery of 2015 is upon me. all my summer sandals and wedges are in a bag that has mysteriously disappeared. My Dbro has checked under the bed, on top of the wardrobe, under the drying rack and in the garage for the bag but it is nowhere to be found. it means now that unless it turns up in the next four and a half weeks, I'm going to have to buy new sandals for my holiday which is an expense I could do without, just hope that if it isn't found, sandals etc will be in plentiful supply in the shops!

Ujjayi · 17/02/2015 18:38

Santa am drooling over your Hermes link. And agree that there are certain things that are definitely an investment and retain their value. Good article here from Vogue on the reality of "investment" pieces.

Karbea that first link is exactly what I had in mind. I don't mind the second link but I wonder if it might look a bit "office".

One No need to apologise. We all have our crappy times and what I love about this thread is that there is a lot of support (not just sartorial Wink ). Even as a relative newbie I can see that :) As for sandals - Topshop are always great for leather flat sandals and have some in now. I buy mine from there most years - usually 2 or 3 pairs and wear them throughout the summer. I've even been known to buy two of the same pair - one for everyday and one for keeping neat & tidy for smarter occasions as I love flats for summer evenings.

LinusDKD · 17/02/2015 19:05

Evening!

one don't worry, every one comes on here every once in a while to have a good moan. Wink

Oh and well done on passing!

karbea I wish I could help you but I am an interior design noob. I know what I like when I see it in pictures or in someone's home but I have no idea how to recreate it.

lib not a fan of those shoes, sorry.

santa gorgeous bag, I've never seen that one IRL.

Talking about price increases, do you know if and when Chanel is going to increase their prices this year?

shop I hope you are feeling better?

My appetite still hasn't come back completely, probably because my sense of taste is not 100% either.

I have read that some people never get their sense of taste and/or smell back after a bad bout of flu! Shock

shopafrolic · 17/02/2015 20:40

Starting to feel better Linus but have been to the cinema and then Nandos with DS, DH and the GPs and am feeling lousy again now.
I'm in the bad books with DH. DF announced over dinner that he has a consultants appointment tomorrow and DM can't go. So I've said I'll go with him, but DBil and kids are coming for the day so I won't be around to catch up with them. I'm mad at DBIL anyway as he didn't bother to buy DS Christmas or birthday gifts when we spent ££££ on his children. I'll be able to spend the afternoon with them - just not the whole day. Nothing I can do about it. DFs health comes first......

Ujj well done on the TS runner up. Interesting link too. Karbea you are right about high end stuff being more affordable in the past, this LV bag which I bought circa 1993 cost £250 so today that would be worth £350 not £675 that LV want now for it. Same as my LV leopard print stole that's gone up by around £100 since I've owned it Shock

Santa Nooooo not Nick Clegg Shock Lovely Hermes bag, drool.

One you should celebrate your pass, don't be too hard on yourself.

Liked the Boden shoes that were linked Ujj? I'm starting to think about summer footwear. I'm slowly warming to the idea of a SS wardrobe.

bettykt · 17/02/2015 20:54

Shop you made the right decision to go with your df Flowers hope the appointment goes well.

shopafrolic · 17/02/2015 21:03

Thanks Betty

Of course you need to go with your DF shop!

Oh and Nando's! This is the second time I've seen Nando's mentioned today and I am really craving one of their chicken burgers. I haven't had one in more than 6 years and unfortunately there's no Nando's where I live. Sad

Next time I'm in London I'll go and satisfy my cravings...

And yes, congratulations ujjayi on winning that competition!

shopafrolic · 17/02/2015 21:06

I'd have sent you mine Linus. I hate Nandos, but DH loves it and we hadn't been for years.....

LinusDKD · 17/02/2015 21:07

Oh and great tips for teeth cleaning and the dentist novice!

LinusDKD · 17/02/2015 21:10

DH hates Nando's too so we never went together. It was my guilty pleasure...

shopafrolic · 17/02/2015 21:11

LOL Linus you and my DH would get on like a house on fire!

OP posts:
Karbea · 17/02/2015 21:20

Ive only ever been to nandos once.

LinusDKD · 17/02/2015 21:24

Lol shop! Does he like Wagamamas as well? Wink

santamarianovella · 17/02/2015 21:26

Shh! betty so far no one noticed it Grin, but I purely blame it on my hormones, hangs head in shame

ujjayi, that's an interesting article, I think I like the idea of saving special pieces for my dd,more than buying them cause of their resale value,

and YY to buying while you can, my mother owns several pieces of chanel jackets and dresses, she owns one gorgous one with embroidery by lesage, It was expensive back when she bought it, about 8 years ago, but a similar one these days retail over €10k !! Insane!

shop I'd get on the next flight to be with my parents if I had to, you did the right thing, hope its alright,x

I've never ever eaten at nandos or pizza express,or subway,

Karbea · 17/02/2015 21:35

Ive had subway once.

Ujjayi · 17/02/2015 21:35

Linus hope your appetite/sense of taste comes back soon. Perhaps trying something like a veg stirfry with loads of ginger/garlic/fresh chilli/lemon juice might help to stimulate your taste buds? It always works for me after any cough/cold virus.

Shop no question: your DF is the priority. Hope all goes as well as can be hoped for tomorrow.

I've never been to Nandos. Am I missing something? DS1 went with friends whilst on a school trip last year. I heard more about the Nandos visit than the rest of the trip.

Just booked tickets for the SeaLife Centre in London. Flippin' 'eck!! We haven't been for a few years - cannot believe how expensive it is now. (almost £60 for the 3 of us). It makes me so angry to think how many activities are actually out of the affordable range for the average family.

On a more flippant note...have told DCs to be prepared to be embarrassed by their mama stopping people to take their photo...am thinking of doing a "street style" post if I can find enough interesting characters.

Ujjayi · 17/02/2015 21:39

Santa I am positively green with envy at the thought that you may one day inherit a Chanel jacket with Lesage embroidery...Wow.

As for Subway...it was one of the staples of my diet when backpacking in the US.

Wow: Subway, Chanel, Lesage...all in the same post?!

OneLittleLady · 17/02/2015 21:47

Shop your DF is the priority, Dh will get over it. Also, how mean and stingy of DBil not buy xmas/bday gifts for your Ds, I'd be mad about that too unless there was a previous agreement that you were not buying for each others families or they had fallen on hard times and there was a prior understanding.

Ujjayi I'd love to be stopped for a 'street style' shot but I'm really not stylish enough haha

MarshaBrady · 17/02/2015 21:53

Dh and I used to get stopped back in the good old days Grin We'd say no though too cool for school. We should have got the shot.

MarshaBrady · 17/02/2015 21:54

Love how you're mixing it up Ujj high + low my type of post.

Ujjayi · 17/02/2015 21:56

One - me neither! And if I did I would assume they were taking the proverbial OR that it was going in a "what were they thinking?" post!!

Marsha - I bow to your coolness. I ridiculously lose all cool if I ever receive compliments
