One I'm not sure if you're doing a degree or what, but during my most recent exams we used to tell each other that a pass meant you had done just the right amount of work, no more no less Grin but I do understand. It's just one module though and won't matter much once your marks are averaged out at the end. You've done well - now onto the next!

Karbea · 17/02/2015 11:37

Argh now the builder(s) reckon I should have a window where the blocked up doorway will be - as the hallway will become very dark.
Tell me this is a cr@p 70s idea....
The original reason I didn't want it move the door was because I was worried the hall would become dark, but the benefits to the living room made me change my mind... Now the builders are confusing me again...

OneLittleLady · 17/02/2015 11:59

thanks all, I know im being silly over it, I just want to do well and I feel like i can do better than just a pass mark. hopefully now my mentor support has finally been sorted out, the extra support will give me the push i need to reach the potential i smugly think i have

Topazandpearl · 17/02/2015 12:18

You have had a lot on One so you have done really well to pass. Also, it can be a useful benchmark for future modules and it can help you to argue for the support you need (hopefully you won't have to!) And, don't forget, a pass is a pass!

Karbea I sympathise! I am no good at visualising that sort of thing. Agree that you need Santa.

libertychick · 17/02/2015 12:38

One at the beginning of the year with my MBA I was getting really good marks. Now I work out with each assignment what the minimum I need to get through is!! I even skipped a whole assignment (and therefore technically failed a section) because I have worked out that I had enough from the other modules to average it out Blush. You are doing great.

Karbea I hate taking these decisions too. Re the doorway, i think if in doubt, let there be light! A dark hallway / living room would bother me much more than a window that looked a bit dated or out of place.

Good basic on the IM top Blair.

Clarks coral shoes have arrived. They are lovely, colour is perfect but my feet are making funny farting noises in them Grin. Also I think they are a bit too pointy, I need an almond toe I think - so back they go.

libertychick · 17/02/2015 12:42

Views on these shoes please. I keep being drawn to them but wonder if the sole is too much???

shopafrolic · 17/02/2015 13:08

Ordered some other MiH Marrakesh from the Outnet to try. Similar price to the ASOS ones but look to be a darker wash. I've ordered the 28 and the 29 as the ASOS 29 fit but feel as though with wear they may stretch.
LOL at farty noises Lib - I bet they don't have a section for that on the returns slip! Grin
Karbea I am not ignoring your design woes - I am just useless and know Santa will be more helpful :)
Stokey I don't work ATM so I am not best placed to advise but I do know that if I didn't need to go back to work for the ££ then I would make sure it was the perfect job to fit around family life.

Ujjayi PM

OP posts:
Ujjayi · 17/02/2015 13:27

Thanks Shop. I was basking in the sunshine and made a mad dash to my study when I just got your PM! Never has my Mac taken so long to "warm up" and get going as it did just now!

Have ordered the 28s but wondering if I should also get 29s? I panicked and hit the "buy now" button as I was so worried about them disappearing.

Are MiH true to size across styles/cuts? I have the Paris cropped indigo jeans which are 28s which fit Hmm

I'm fed up with buying jeans/trousers which feel great when they are tried on and then stretch a size when worn. I have a lovely pair of Zara khaki skinnies which I am wearing right now which have done exactly that.

shopafrolic · 17/02/2015 13:31

I am a size 12 Ujjayi and ordered the 29s from ASOS - they feel as though they might be a bit big with wear so I've ordered the 28s and 29s in this wash to try. You're smaller than me right? If you have the Paris in 28 then you should be fine....

OP posts:
Ujjayi · 17/02/2015 13:54

I'm a 10 but thigh-heavy. Think I'll stick with the 28s.

Speaking of jeans which are the wrong size...I have 2 pairs of Gap jeans, unworn (except for literally 10 minutes) which I am about to part with as I was coerced into buying a size smaller than my usual size by a sales assistant who insisted they would "stretch sooo much". I just about squeezed into them in the store but every time I try and wear them now I have to remove them after a few minutes. They are seriously way too small so if anyone would like them and would like to make me an offer (sorry if that's cheeky but I paid full price and they've never been worn!)

They are the these ones Gap 1969 Real Straight and High Rise Skinny both 26R.

Ujjayi · 17/02/2015 14:15

Now all MiH excitement has subsided I will have a proper catch up with you all!

Karbea I am in awe of your dog bed. My poor pooch would be feeling very much the poor relation in her Joules offering (which I had previously thought quite swish until I clocked your dog furniture Grin ).

I'm not sure about the window thing. I think I would have to see samples of what the builder is actually proposing before committing. Anything too small would look dreadfully 70s but a large window of almost door-size proportions could look very modern and would flood the hallway with light.

QueenC sounds like you are having a great time.

One congrats on passing your module. Don't worry about the marks - it will all average out at the end.

Stokey interesting about the Topshop Jamie flares as they were next on my hit list if the MiH don't work out (still haven't collected the M&S flares yet so also have those to try too). Regarding your work dilemma - I think the salary issue would swing it for me. I wouldn't want to work an extra day and have to miss out on a DC day when I wasn't being adequately compensated for it. Do you think you will feel any resentment over time? Especially as chores/errands etc will start to eat into a precious 2 day weekend.

Lib I had a hormonal choc fest yesterday too. I wolfed down half a large bar of Cadbury's Fruit & Nut and two glasses of merlot and felt manky afterwards. I'm usually a G&B gal but there is something about my hormones that makes me crave sugary cheap chocolate. But they have changed the recipe because it tastes very different now (not that it stopped me from eating it).

Gorgeous sunshine here too. Took DCs out for breakfast and then a long walk with the dog. They have friends over so am taking the opportunity to do some work or MN I have a client who is currently being a total PITA and I am channelling all my new found assertiveness to deal with it so we'll see how that pans out by friday...

AmberNectarine · 17/02/2015 15:05

I bought the TS Jamie flares today actually. They were a nice fit and I got the 30 length so I can wear with flats/trainers. I have a longer pair for heels.

Cranagh · 17/02/2015 15:09

Hi all. I've been reading on and off.

The MIH jeans look cool, Shop. I might get a pair in the summer but am still a skinny jeans fan.

Well done for passing One, you did what you need to do!

Ujjayi, I'd love to see your blog please, if that's ok?

Stokey, I left my job when DD1 was a baby as I couldn't handle doing a five day week especially as DH works very long hours. I understand it is a risk not working for a few years. Personally, I'd wait until you can get a four day deal or at least the same salary as before, but as the others say, it depends on the job.

I'm not crazy about the sole on those shoes, Liberty, but when they are not so brand new it might not be obvious?

Almost bought 50/50s but decided not to at the last minute. I've just received these boots which have gone back to full price but were £125. Also found a navy parka for spring. Now decided I am not buying anything else as I must have a small navy AH cross-body. Trying to get through my wishlist before we move.

Karbea, that is the nicest dog bed I have ever seen!

Ujjayi · 17/02/2015 15:20

Lib good call on returning the farting shoes. I have a pair of boots from Hobbs that creak when I walk in them. I rarely wear them and when I do I constantly wonder why I kept them. Also not keen on the others you linked to. Sole is a bit much.

Cranagh will PM you.

So mixed opinions on the TS Jamies...hopefully one of the two pairs I've already ordered will be fine but good to know there is hope out there still!

OneLittleLady · 17/02/2015 15:29

thanks all, I appreciate the support Thanks

Feel really gross and blah today. not happy with my clothes choice today. in my head it was stylish and cool but i don't feel good in it so won't wear this combo again

Still don't think i'm going to do flares, just don't think my thighs are slim enough for them to look good. Curse my thick legs!

Ujjayi · 17/02/2015 15:31

Am I hormonal or....are these lovely shoes?

heels and flats in orange

Cranagh · 17/02/2015 15:36

Thanks Ujjayi, your blog is a treat and you look very glam.

I love both those Boden shoes. I ordered the Lille in navy in the preview and a couple of friends bought the Alice heels.

Ujjayi · 17/02/2015 15:42

Woohoo! Just found out I am a runner up in the Wardrobe Icons x Topshop competition on Instagram Grin I never win anything so am very chuffed to have won a free pair of jeans from Topshop Grin

Cranagh thank you - very kind words indeed re blog and good to know my hormones aren't sending my shopping mojo totally out of whack!

OneLittleLady · 17/02/2015 15:48

ooh, a lovely surprise for you then ujjayi

having been watching video tutorials most of the day. feel like I need a break from them now so may go on pinterest and look at pretty things. Spend an awful lot of time on there, especially at night when I can't sleep as it's preferable to staring up at a blank ceiling for hours on end

Topazandpearl · 17/02/2015 15:51

Going against the grain, I like those shoes Lib, also those Ujayi.

Drywhiteplease · 17/02/2015 16:33

Ujj I nominate you for Best Style question so far this year " am I hormonal, or are these shoes lovely?" . Grin brilliant!!! Must be a MNV classic.

one a pass is a pass, don't feel dissappointed Smile

lib I'm not sure about the white sole, but that's just me. Will try my silver version of your coral shoe for farting noises and report back!

kaebea I like a lot of light but it's difficult to give an opinion without seeing it. Re paint colour, could you take a swatch of fabric to paint mixing place and get a few paler shades of your curtain fabric as paint pots and try? I paint A4 sheets of pare and stick them to the wall .

santamarianovella · 17/02/2015 16:57

Hello all!

karbea, its impossible to tell, without having a look,

I answered your pm, Smile

one just think of it as a pass,

cranagh welcome back,

lib I'm not sure TBH

ujjayi they are nice. I tried the IM lace up ones, and as much as I love IM shoes, those were strictly high summer ones, something that only looks great with short dresses, dont see them beyond that, I like the aquazzura ones more, but can't find them where I live,

Regarding hormones, I truly sympathise with you, mine were all over the place a day before my period was due, was all weepy, and depressed, and I even found nick clegg handsome, when I read somthing about him in the papers Shock

As well as trying the marant lace ups, I tried a gorgeous, pair of peachy blush cropped crepe trousers by chloe, they look amazing, but I'm not so sure I will wear them much,

Also Went into hermes, I've never thought the Berline bag nice until I saw one displayed in gold, gorgous! just the type of thing I'm after, but my goodness, prices have gone up since December!

Karbea · 17/02/2015 17:01

santa thank you! I've replied to your pm :)

santamarianovella · 17/02/2015 17:01

this is the bag I've tried, but in a tan colour, its super light, and not classically looking as Kelly or birkin, can be worn cross body too, can't stop thinking about it Blush
