Thank you everyone!ThanksThanks Was stressed about the dcs all day but of course you were all right, they were fine. When I travel they see less of me, so it's so important to me that when I am here they take priority over everything else. I am being extra sensitive because my travel schedule for the next few months is grim!

Linus, I sing 4 nursery rhymes when we do teeth. One for each quadrant to make sure the teeth brushing takes 2 mins. The dcs then have their turn and I make up a silly song about their dentist so we talk about him all the time. In the week leading up to a dentist visit we do arts and crafts (so colouring in or make something) in relation to the dentist which we show to him. It gets them an extra sticker which they love. It means they are very excited to see him to show him their clean teeth. Extra sticker from mummy if the dentist tells me their teeth are clean.Smile

I have to say Karbea i agree with Dry on the posh dog bed.Grin

Shop hope you're better. X

libertychick · 16/02/2015 22:28

My eyes are out on sticks looking at that dog bed Grin

libertychick · 16/02/2015 22:29

Great teeth routine Novice. Good idea for a nursery rhyme per quadrant.

OneLittleLady · 16/02/2015 22:40

that sounds like a lovely routine Novice

lib feel no shame, we all have days like that

Passed another module. didn't do as well as I'd hoped to have done but i still passed so i guess that's what counts, right?

Drywhiteplease · 16/02/2015 22:41

The Good Wife fans fashion styles of TGW love this sort of thing. Hope link works .....no spoilers

Karbea · 16/02/2015 22:45

lib I promise you, the dog bed is much nicer than our sofas!

justasecond · 16/02/2015 23:00

day 1 of period her too Lib I ate a quarter of a cake I made yesterday (it was a large cake) and these whole pack. No shame here either.
Novice I am v impressed with you dentist routine!

Big News. I found my dream bag for half the uk price and it arrived today - squee!!
here I was not sure if the website was legit as I had never heard of them before so paid with paypal. I would maybe have preferred a lighter colour to use in the summer but black is great too and classic for A/W. I know its still a lot of money for a bag but it is from DH to mark a special event.

justasecond · 16/02/2015 23:10

Thanks for that link Dry Diane's outfits are my favourite. She always looks immaculate.

libertychick · 16/02/2015 23:15

Well done on passing your module One and yy it's the pass that counts.

Love that link Dry. I started watching The Good Wife ages ago and followed from series 1 to series 3. Have series 4 and (I think 5) recorded but haven't got to them yet. The style is fab.

Lovely bag Justa and what a lovely way to mark a special occasion. Congratulations.

BrandyAlexander · 16/02/2015 23:24

Wow love that link Justa! Lovely bag.Smile

Congrats to One.

On the dentist if you google dentist colouring pages for toddlers and dentist crafts for toddlers you get plenty of ideas. I am hopeless otherwise! I love the dltk website for lots of ideas. Also, Maisy has a going to the dentist book, and there are set of old books called Fred Bear and Friends. You can get second hand from amazon or eBay. Anyway one of the books is about going to the dentist. We read that a lot the week before. I tell the dcs suckers if they don't behave then they can't come to the dentist and that would be a big deal!Grin

justasecond · 16/02/2015 23:37

A bit of reverse psychology can work wonders on the dc Novice! I will try some of your tips for next time with ds. He has been to the dentist regularly since he was really young with the older 2 but dentist has only managed to look in his mouth once Blush
Well done on passing One
Gorgeous dog bed Karbea I never knew there was such a thing!

Drywhiteplease · 17/02/2015 07:40

Off to make pancakes....I have hot the date right haven't i?

Stokey · 17/02/2015 07:59

Morning all, thanks for the advice on the dress - it was perfect.

THe interview was OK but I'm having a real work dilemma. Since DD1 was born (she's 5 now) I've always done 4 days but now what's on offer is full time. I just don't know if I'm ready to sacrifice "Mummy" day, Dd2 is about to be 3. It's also less money for 5 days than I was getting for 4 days, and DH is doing quite well in his job so I luckily don't need to work. But I'm a bit worried if I take more time out, potentially til sep 2016 when DD2 starts school, I'll be out of the market place for too long. Gosh it's hard being a Mum!

Amazing bag Justa and well done on your pass One.

Yes it is pancake day Dry, I'm about to start flipping.

In fashion news I popped into TopShop and tried on their Jamie flares yesterday - not good. I don't think they're flared enough, anyway they made me look very stocky. Interesting to hear how the MIH ones go.

Is the MU on 14th a day one? I've got drinks in the evening but may be able to pop in and meet you guys in the day so put me down as a maybe. I'd love to out some faces to nicknames.

Drywhiteplease · 17/02/2015 08:50

stokey I've just realised that this is my opportunity to tell DFIL he's a complete TOSSER ....thanks Grin

Re work dilemm.....I don't have an answer but I do know that if they value you enough to want you full time now, I'd imagine they would do when you felt ready to later on, no? And the lack of salary increase would swing it for me too.

Fedupnagging · 17/02/2015 09:09

It's not yet 9am and I've made granola (deliciously Ella), pancakes and had a long convo with dsis. Phew, need to go back to bed!

One, well done on passing the module.

Gorgeous bag Justa.

Dry Grin

Glad the interview went ok Stokey. I don't have any advice re your work dilemma either. I took 12 years off and had no desire to go back to my old line of work. I now work part time and enjoy the balance. However, I get your point about it being difficult to get back in to the market place.

There are others on here who will have more constructive advice to offer.

It's a beautiful day here so think I will wear skinnies, white l/s layering t under a slouchy navy knit and huge blanket scarf and gloves and sunnies - yes the sun is that bright! As I am driving to meet a friend for brunch, I reckon I can get away without a coat. Yippee!

libertychick · 17/02/2015 09:34

It's a tough one Stokey. Well done on the job offer. How do you feel about the actual job? Is it something that you will love doing or that will give the opportunity for better things?

If they are insisting you work full time could you do a day or two from home? That gives some breathing space if you have a couple of days without commuting and you can stay on top of house stuff like deliveries, laundry etc. Personally I think it's hard going if both of you are working full time with two small children as it means your weekend is filled with all the household stuff and it limits family time so the job would have to be perfect IMO to make that sacrifice worth it.

MarshaBrady · 17/02/2015 09:38

Morning, what lovely sunshine.

Stokey a very tricky one. I've worked from home for ages now a few days a week or less and always think if I leave it longer I won't get back, I know how you feel. Do you like the sound of the job?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/02/2015 10:31

Morning :) feels like spring today!

Stokey I can't put myself in your shoes, but I think it would come down to gut feeling for me. For an extra day and less money, the job would need to be either more enjoyable or a significant step towards what I wanted to be doing. When will you hear? (Or congratulations if you already got it)

Stocky is a good word to describe how I felt in my flares... haven't tried them since the first time! I may end up offering them on here to a fellow shortie with slimmer thighs!

Nice things on the outnet today, I hate when they only have very high end stuff on the new in. Today is MiH and See by Chloe and some other bits - I've ordered this Etoile Marant top.

Karbea · 17/02/2015 10:43

I'm really in a stress.
The builder needs to know the paint colour by the end of the week.
So I thought I'd take the fabric book into the f&b shop and which colour the lady in there thought would match. Her ideas were skimming stone or elephants breath. I've both of these colours in my bedroom and ensuite and they are very grey. The fabric is colour is moleskin and looks browny to me. I am so rubbish with colours.
I don't know who else to ask for help :(

QueenCardigan · 17/02/2015 10:55

Morning. I just can't stay away from you. Just been for a lovely run and all 3 do are in the jacuzzi bath so thought I'd check in quickly.

stokey congrats. Personally I wouldn't ever do full time but that's not to say it can't work. What are you pre and after school arrangements? Does that one day you have off allow the dc to have play dates after school that they otherwise can't have? If you take a pay decrease can you afford a cleaner otherwise weekends will be full of doing chores and therefore eating into family time. I guess the pay decrease wouldn't bother me necessarily if you can afford to take it but is there flexibility as lib days to work from home? How child friendly do they seem in terms of taking time off if dc are sick? What about time off for sports days/nativity plays/assemblies? How do the holidays compare ie will you get more time off during school holidays with dc? What's the travelling time? Although you're out the house for 5 days will you be around a bit more in mornings/evenings. So much to think about and I considered all of this myself but in the end gave up my career as it wasn't going to work with dh job and family life. I can't speak for everyone but I find it harder now they're at school and find the kids need me more. Their needs are relatively simple at preschool but the homework/after school activities/them wanting you to be there at assemblies/plays/help out with trips etc makes it difficult to juggle. Sorry that turned into quite an essay Blush.

Anyway, back to s&b! Obviously I'm the height of sophistication in trainers and North face. My hair's greasy but no point washing it as we'll be swimming later so I've put it up. It's the smallest ponytail ever but now I've got a thicker fringe I quite like it up.

QueenCardigan · 17/02/2015 10:57

karbea pm santa and see if she can help.

Karbea · 17/02/2015 11:12

I've pm'd santa, feel so cheeky... :/

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/02/2015 11:12

Glad you're having a nice time QueenC!

Karbea yes, as I read your post I was thinking "you need The Santa Wink"

OneLittleLady · 17/02/2015 11:16

hi all

Glad you're having a nice time QueenC

Oh yes, you definitely need The Santa, karbea Grin

Feeling a bit low over my passing grade. It was still a pass but I should and could have done better. ah well, nothing to be done about it now

Karbea · 17/02/2015 11:24

one it's so frustrating when you don't get the result. You think you could have done. But as you say a pass is a pass and at the end of the day (and in years to come) that's all that matters. You've done really well so should be proud!
