mara I'm pretty sure I was wearing them with platform wedges (sandals) before, clearly my toes would fall off if I did that in this weather!

QueenCardigan · 04/02/2015 19:54

Yay for m&s linus.
ujayyi poor thing. Never heard of those doors before but as dry says, sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

The flares I have are from gap from a few years ago. Skinny at the top and wide at the bottom.

BrandyAlexander · 04/02/2015 20:09

Well done linus!

I need to get my PA some presents. Not least because if I don't she will think out of sight out of mind. Which is so not true! I normally get her smellies but I wasn't into them when I just had my dcs. Was that just me o is that still appropriate? If so, I might get her Liz Earle as that's quite mild. Or maybe philosophy or REN? (I am getting her a necklace anyway).

As as aside, love love love the Selfridges website. I sent some presents overseas both at Christmas and yesterday. The delivery charge was £25 but the UK VAT was £25, no import duties in the other country so basically it felt like it didn't cost me anything extra to send the presents thousands of miles away! Not all the websites correctly knock off the VAT, they charge it and then pocket the difference!

bettykt · 04/02/2015 20:12

QueenC how are your dc now? Flowers really hope they are on the mend again

Novice sorry to hear you're still poorly and your dh Linus well done M&S

Ujjayi hope your ds is okay, a knock to the head is always worrying, Flowers Love those TB heels you linked, especially the green ones.

Shop re: tattoo, they are not for me for the same reasons as Linus and I'm a wuss too, but as you already have them then go for it, they are you.

Loving the flares talk and feel inspired to get some just need to drop a few pounds first though will wait until spring/summer and wear with a wedge sandal I think.

santamarianovella · 04/02/2015 20:13

shop I just posted a pic for you, of moi, wearing the kick flares, I don't have a full length mirror, so had to stand on top of a reebok step..with heels , the things I do for MNV Wink,

santamarianovella · 04/02/2015 20:16

Oh and they are really snug, so try your true size and a size bigger, but they are supposed to be really tight on hips and thighs

BrandyAlexander · 04/02/2015 20:32

Good grief just read Ujjayi's post properlyShock your poor ds!

hope Linus and the miniCs get better soon.

santamarianovella · 04/02/2015 20:39

Oh poor ds ujjayi !,

linus good result!

novice, I didn't like perfumes in first trimester, but after that all was fine, so beauty or skincare gift should be fine I think.

sleepwhenidie · 04/02/2015 20:44

Novice one of my favourite presents (still one of my favourite things now) was a beautiful cashmere shawl that my sis bought me when DS1 was born. It was so comforting on lots of chilly nights when I was bf (also a good cover up when out and bf) and the dc's all love snuggling with me in it if I wear it now Smile. I even wore it as a wrap on my wedding day. Would something like that be an idea?

maradesbois · 04/02/2015 20:47

Linus well done on your victory! Was v annoyed on your behalf about that one, so frustrating.

Novice I didnt wear perfume for a while after childbirth as thought the baby wouldn't know what mummy smelt like! Skincare is a lovely idea though, it's a time when you need a reminder to take care of yourself too.

Right, off to watch Spiral.

LinusDKD · 04/02/2015 20:49

What a great idea sleep! Your description of the shawls snuggliness makes me want one right now!

BrandyAlexander · 04/02/2015 20:51

Oooh great idea. Thanks We were given a Brora shawl when ds was born. Will check their site.

BrandyAlexander · 04/02/2015 20:56

ds blanket

sleepwhenidie · 04/02/2015 20:58

They are beautiful too, but mine was a me size shawl rather than a baby one Smile. Have you seen the travel wrap company, they look gorgeous although I don't know if they are in line with your budget...

maradesbois · 04/02/2015 21:00

Before I go also wanted to ask are you interested in/bothered about where 'high end' (for want of a better word) clothes are made? Just doing my Outnet return and surprised to see Current Elliot shirt made in China. Things like that put me off, their price point should be able to incorporate US manufacture. I'm not under some romantic notion of designers sewing by hand in a lovely artisan workshop (although Hermès and Goyard still very much hand crafted) but think it's a bit of a con to outsource to Asia when you're promoting a luxury brand based on certain values like Ralph Lauren selling American East Coast chic.

Drywhiteplease · 04/02/2015 21:09

Shop you're so right about pressures at work.....people are dying at their desks in their 40s, it's completely screwed....what happened to having a life? Your poor DH.

And.....have discoverer that padded sports bras are quite a revelation to the small of chest amongst us. Between the psychedelic leggings in front of me and my newly acquired cleavage it was quite a session!Grin

Tried on pleather leggings......one word.....SAUSAGES! Grin

And Shoppe go for the tattoo......life is too short. I'd love to have one on my bum just to shock everyone least likely person ever to have one

Queen and Blair I'm really not sure I'll make the MU. Feel really bad about it.

Drywhiteplease · 04/02/2015 21:12

mara I agree with you. I've always wondered whether high end is worth it. Between the synthetic fibres and cheaper manufacturing I'm getting a bit cynical tbh.

BrandyAlexander · 04/02/2015 21:24

Aaargh. Sleep that's lovely. Now in a dilemma as I wanted to get her a merci mamman necklace too.

Karbea · 04/02/2015 21:32

dry which ones did you try?

Drywhiteplease · 04/02/2015 22:20

A very cheap pair, really bad.... Suspect real leather and a better cut would be better but not sure it's me really

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/02/2015 22:30

Dry don't feel guilty! I would love to see you again but if you can't come, you can't come, and you have a long way to travel anyway. Fingers crossed you can though.

shop I forgot to say... yes a classy MU/hen, for the classy ladies we are! But I'll wear the penises to keep QueenC and the rest amused while you're not looking.

Wink

Oh and I hope your Magic Mike video was a hint of what I can expect? You are inviting Channing Tatum, right?

...right???

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/02/2015 22:34

And Joe Mangianello for later?

please

sleepwhenidie · 05/02/2015 08:00

Perhaps Shop is on the phone to their agents right now vain hope Smile

Shop I meant to say, you can replay the FC show on the Radioplayer app and scroll through til you get to that song you like to find out who it was Smile

Novice sorry if I've complicated your present buying Blush

shopafrolic · 05/02/2015 08:00

Dry!!!!!!!! No MU??????? Sad Sad Sad
Blair Channing is a bit busy promoting the new movie but has said he'll do his best. He actually sent me that video as a private thing between the two of us. Not sure how it got online Blush
