Question from me-what colour ankle boots do you wear with blue jeans? I've always thought of black as a bit heavy iyswim and wear grey or mole but I suddenly seem to have a hankering for black boots Confused

Karbea · 26/01/2015 17:32

queen i try to wear tan boots with blue jeans, I do sometimes wear black if they are downstairs and I can't be bothered to go upstairs and get the tan ones (lazy!). I agree that black looks too heavy.
one poor you, have an easy evening, look after yourself.
muddling it's good you are booked in. I really enjoyed mine, even if I'm struggling how to use the information she gave me.

Topazandpearl · 26/01/2015 18:41

If the denim is a very dark wash I think black can look ok (that is what I wear anyway).
Poor you one, I hope you don't have a headache!
I have booked my train tickets for the mu! I thought I had get it on the calendar before too many weekends get booked up. Looking forward to it.

Fedupnagging · 26/01/2015 18:48

Flowers for you One, and leave it alone!

Queen I wear black, tan and maroon ankle boots with jeans (not all at the same time obv!). My black pettys are never off my feet at the moment.

Lovely dress Blair, great for a honeymoon somewhere hot. I then got distracted looking at the TS bags
Nice
Love this but in a different colour
Sweet

Glad you got your HOC day sorted Muddling.

I wear various colour boots with blue jeans, I have black, deep red, burgundy and green. Some are very flat, some are very small heeled and at least one pair have a 2 inch plus heel on them but I don't wear those very often as it's hard having to adjust crutch length to accomodate them

LinusDKD · 26/01/2015 20:43

My denim tends to be dark and I wear dark boots/shoes with them.

But if they are black they are suede or patent leather as I find that black leather can be a bit harsh. My Jimmy Choo bikers are black but becaus of the weathered finish they look more like very dark grey.

shopafrolic · 27/01/2015 09:17

Good God! No posts since 20.45 last night!!! Shock
We must be in the post Christmas, mid Winter, pre-season dead zone?
I won't try and catch up.... but I will set you a Voguette mini quiz.

Q1. If money was no object - what one item would you choose to add to your wardrobe?
Q2. What is the oldest piece of clothing in your wardrobe?
Q3. Excluding black and white, what colour do you wear most frequently?

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2015 09:48

Love a quiz

Q1. If money was no object - what one item would you choose to add to your wardrobe? Hmm, a new bag maybe. Oh I know the Céline box of course.

Q2. What is the oldest piece of clothing in your wardrobe? Hmm I threw out quite a lot of very old stuff recently as it was just there as a memory rather than being worn. I'll go and have a look.

Q3. Excluding black and white, what colour do you wear most frequently?
Blue / navy I think

Morning, yes it's been pretty quiet on here since yesterday evening!

Good questions shop!
Ok...

  1. Maxmara camel hair wrap coat. considering saving to get one this A/W, am I nuts?
  2. I don't wear it, but the oldest is a jumper I made my mum buy me when I was 17 and needed cheering up because my boyfriend was a horrible bastard. It's dusty pink, cropped, with a thick roll neck that attaches with massive safety pins and cost £59, which I thought was soooo much for a jumper well it was for an acrylic thing tbh. I can't get rid of it!
  3. Navy blue!
shopafrolic · 27/01/2015 09:52

Best I answer myself too!

Q1. If money was no object - what one item would you choose to add to your wardrobe? The Céline box, or a YSL tux jacket
Q2. What is the oldest piece of clothing in your wardrobe? Tricky one this as I had my huge clear out. Probably My Sportmax coat
Q3. Excluding black and white, what colour do you wear most frequently? Red or Grey

shopafrolic · 27/01/2015 09:53

I should have excluded navy too from Q3 shouldn't I? :)

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/01/2015 09:59

And grey! :)

But then I'm not sure what I'd answer. Probably coral, as I have a few tops and a jumper in that.

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2015 10:00

No navy, no grey. Then yellow

shopafrolic · 27/01/2015 10:04

Is camel hair not itchy? I only know about Yak hair Grin

QueenCardigan · 27/01/2015 10:08
  1. Chanel 2.55
  2. Blue patterned skirt from monsoon from before I was married. Just can't bring myself to chuck it despite never wearing it but it makes me feel good to still fit into it. Black pea coat from gap in New York when got engaged. Looking a bit past it now and should be chucked since I now have navy and grey but it's sentimental. Black shorts from monsoon from honeymoon again make me feel good to fit into them. I don't tend to wear them in public as they're rather short but they're good for lounging around on hot days.
  3. Navy, grey. If neither of these allowed then probably cobalt.

Thanks for all the black boot input. You've made me realise that I don't need them as there's a reason I don't have them.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/01/2015 10:12

Don't know shop, need to try! How come you know about yak hair?!

QueenCardigan · 27/01/2015 10:17

Has anyone ever been on a camel? One of the most uncomfortable and frightening experiences of my life Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/01/2015 10:28

No Shock I just want to wear its hair Grin

maradesbois · 27/01/2015 11:08

Morning,

Ooh, fab quiz Shop, tempted me back to the fold!

  1. Hermès equestrian boots or a cocktail ring with large coloured stone (probably tanzanite) but no diamonds or other embellishment, just the big rock with a simple setting.
  1. A pale blue denim skinny Levi's jacket from my first year at uni. Full of memories and although I don't wear it much it still works all these years later.
  1. Navy but if not allowed then its burgundy at the moment.
shopafrolic · 27/01/2015 11:09

Yak hair jumper
Loving all these answers. Especially the classic items for Q1.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/01/2015 11:32

Learn something new every day! Is yak hair a bit itchy or is it really soft like goat/cashmere?

My friend is doing an Everest base camp trek soon, and they get yaks to carry their gear up the mountain, I find the idea so funny :)

shopafrolic · 27/01/2015 11:51

That jumper isn't itchy at all. I used to have a yak hair scarf that someone bought back from an expedition and that was really itchy.

LinusDKD · 27/01/2015 12:26
  1. A navy or black Chanel jacket
  2. Ooh, difficult. Have to think about that one, probably some stuff from my Uni days as well.
  3. Cobalt(-ish) blue and grey.
bettykt · 27/01/2015 12:34

Oo always love a quiz

1 Why a Birkin of course, was oggling Holly Willoughby's battered grey one recently in a photo and it still looked soon good.

  1. A pair of blue almost denim looking trousers from Karen Millen pre dc and around 15 years old they are tiny, I can't bear to throw them away and if I ever fit into them again fat chance I will wear them, I don't care if they look horribly dated Grin

3 Okay was going to say grey but I suppose that should be out too, is camel out? If not then camel, otherwise orange in summer.

Ujjayi · 27/01/2015 12:35

I'm popping in to join you again...if that's okay? Smile I'm always lurking on the thread and love reading about latest purchases/recommendations but it usually moves too fast for me to keep up with! Am I being lulled into a false sense of security with the go-slow?!

QueenC I wear stone, tan, or black with blue jeans - although usually black suede as I think it is less harsh against blue denim than leather. The DCs and I have been watching the Friends' boxset recently so the black leather/denim combo has a resounding 90s feel in my mind at the moment!

Blair I have a yak hair jumper (blended with regular merino wool). It feels like lambswool, I guess, so yes can be a bit itchy but not too bad. I wear it layered over a long sleeve tee so not a problem for me.

Q1. If money was no object - what one item would you choose to add to your wardrobe? I'd second Mara's suggestion of a huge statement cocktail ring probably in a dull gold with an aquamarine stone.

Q2. What is the oldest piece of clothing in your wardrobe? I have a lot of vintage so the oldest piece of that is probably a Dior black evening gown (mid-calf, divine) from the 1950s but the oldest piece that I bought from new is a MaxMara long charcoal coat that I bought in 1999. I loved that coat and in fact occasionally wear it now as an "oversized" piece. In my head I look totally Garance Doré

Q3. Excluding black and white, what colour do you wear most frequently? Probably navy but if that isn't allowed either then pink - but magenta rather than pastel.
