PM Betty :)

Stokey · 15/01/2015 12:53

Great jumper Linus and what a good idea.

I hadn't thought of loooking at men's ones but am quite tempted by this stripey one and the model

OneLittleLady · 15/01/2015 13:23

my new duvet has arrived and it's so snuggly! I specially bought a new cover set for it, can't wait to get into bed tonight now haha

Been out and done my errands bought a few disney tees for the children and a few sale gift sets to put away for birthdays etc. Really impressed by Ds, I'd told him he could have X amount to spend on books for his kindle from my card (his kindle is linked to my amazon account so I can monitor what he buys) and he bought a thesaurus! He's a real smart cookie is my boy

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/01/2015 14:04

One that's so sweet of him :)

Nice jumpers Linus, it's amazing how much cheaper a man's 100% wool jumper is! I'm often tempted to look at them in Uniqlo too as they have different colours to the women's.

Marsha love your list! It all sounds perfect for you. One of the things I realised last year is that I can't wear light jeans, they just make me look wide.

I've seen a very flattering pair of Acne jeans on a blogger I like - want to try them but since it's a European brand there is no discount available anywhere.

Consultant emailed me all the extra stuff today, there is indeed a list of shops (and one of catalogues!) but the only thing that looks slightly useful is the biannual "Trend Guide" which you have to pay for if you want it after the first one. Hmm

santamarianovella · 15/01/2015 14:15

I love that sweater linus,

I can't do bodycon,or pencil skirts, there has to be some movement to it,
Frills, hmm maybe no but I've seen some nice ones in Chloe's SS,so might give those a try.
I can't do big florals at all,

I had a look at my SS clothes, and I don't think I need much,
My SS list is:
Blazer
Sweater
Skirt
Flats
Sandals,
White jeans
Would love a pair of light wash skinnies,
White shirtdress,
Couple of tops

blair, catalogue shopping Confused, how old is your consultant,!

And did anyone read the article on the daily mail about Louise redknapp new website, its supposed to be aimed at "women and and working mum who've lost their way" , She must be a lurker on S&B Grin

QueenCardigan · 15/01/2015 14:40

Hello all, I'm in need of Wine after a few hours keeping dd amused at the hospital whilst she had a scan. Might crack open a bottle after the school run!

Loving everyone's ss lists. I love getting excited by the new seasons. Also love reading everyone's stories. It's amazing what affect a change of lifestyle has on us and our wardrobes. I wonder if men would feel like this if they gave up work and became sahd.

blair I can't do pale jeans either. I feel they make my thighs look huge although they probably don't. I'd love grey jeans but haven't bought for that reason but there's stonewashed black ones I want that I'm just waiting for a discount code for.

santa didn't we look at Louise's website a while ago and all declare it pretty rubbish?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/01/2015 15:01

Men would probably just think "Yes! A chance to slob around in jeans and tracksuit bottoms!" Grin

santa my consultant was younger than my mother I think, not that old at all - under 50? Also someone asked the other day and yes she did do my colours.

Noticed my wishlist was all casual items as per usual. Hmm I never crave work clothes, and yet still struggle with casual dressing beyond jeans and a t-shirt (as HoC lady would say, "creating interest").

OneLittleLady · 15/01/2015 15:07

I have been in wardrobe hell today. I just have too many clothes for the storage space i've got. No more buying clothes for me for a good while now, not unless I get rid of loads of stuff. I have a double wardrobe which has two drawers and THREE sets of four drawers chests of drawers. Enough, I have to stop buying clothes, at least until I either outgrow, ruin or clear out a load of stuff. That's it, nothing new apart from underwear, socks and tights until I make sense of what i actually have already. I really do have plenty of everything, more than plenty. the only things I can buy now are holiday things, so I could do with a couple of maxi dresses, some swimwear and some shorts. that's it, nothing else.

justasecond · 15/01/2015 15:40

Grin One I always say that then am shopping again a week later. Well done with your exam results too!
Queen hope your dd is ok and its nothing serious. Grey jeans sound good.
Shop sorry to hear about your friend's dad. Hope you are ok.
Cranagh such a lovely necklace, very classic. How awful about your burglary and precious memories being stolen.
Blair interesting to read your thoughts on the whole HOC thing. I had a look at their website a while ago and was put off it all looked so old lady.
Nothing on my SS wishlist yet. I so prefer winter dressing as I love coats, its so easy to look well put together when you can just put a coat over the whole thing. I have to put a lot more thought into SS and struggle to find things I like. I particularly hate that in between time when I am no longer in boots and forever taking socks on and off.

Karbea · 15/01/2015 16:00

Afternoon team!
You are all so organised with your lists, I just need stuff!

I'm going to return the asos dress, I've been playing about with it and I just can't love it. Nor do I love the teal warehouse dress I ordered, but this is lovely. I'm a bit :/ that my first purchase is so dull, but it looks so nice. I've uncovered another clothes issue I have and that is I just can't wear two colours together. I'm ok with any colour and black, and most colours with blue ( jeans) but I just tried the shirt with a brown leather skirt I got from zara and have never worn and with green jeans (more utility than jean) and I just felt odd.
So for my lunch tmr I'm going to wear the new shirt, dark blue jeans, brown leather jackets and some kind of brown boots. I tried on my jimmy choo light tan boots that I used to wear to work a lot and they are very dated, hadn't looked at them for years and had in my mind they were fine.
So a nice pair of brown boots is defo on the list but maybe for next aw now...

QueenCardigan · 15/01/2015 16:09

karbea we may sound organised but the lists will grow and we'll go off piste!
just nothing serious thanks. Just checking her kidneys after last years infection. There was just a lot of waiting around for magic cream/cannula/medicine and finally the scan where she had to lie still for ages. Thank goodness for peppa pig.
karbea I can't do the 2 colours together either. I tend to wear grey or navy with a coloured cardi and add in a second colour with possibly nail polish or a bracelet or sometimes a bag. I tend to use my coloured bags more in the summer though when I'm not wearing a coloured cardi.

Drywhiteplease · 15/01/2015 16:29

Yup QueenC I always start with "I don't need much this season, just 3 key pieces" then go bonkers Grin

OP posts:
BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/01/2015 16:39

According to HoC...
Summers should wear 3-5 colours
Autumns maybe the same? can't remember
Winters 2 colours
Springs 2 colours and a "splash" Grin

libertychick · 15/01/2015 16:45

At risk of sounding like a HoC consultant Grin I think the way to do two colours in to add in a third one! I tried on my new teal top with my mustard skirt earlier and felt a bit self conscious (on my own the house FFS!!) but when I added a multicoloured scarf it suddenly seemed ok. TBH I am beginning to think that this is why I had convinced myself I was a winter as it feels much less scary to add a colour to black or navy.

Karbea I love that shirt, it's perfect. Going to see if they have a non petite version....

One enjoy the duvet. We have down duvets for winter and a silk one for summer. I love that little moment every night when I pull my lovely duvet over me - we spend a third of our lives in bed. It should be comfortable.

Re men becoming SAHP my DH did go through a clothes cycle a bit like how some of you describe. At first he just wore jeans and t-shirt all the time but over the last year and a half or so he decided that he was fed up of it so he bought some burgundy and brown jeans and wears them with a casual collared shirt or a rugby type shirt. He wears trainers and a parka for nursery run, park etc but will put on brown leather chelsea boots and a smart brown wool coat if he has appointments or is taking DD out for lunch or whatever. He says he feels much better when he makes the effort.

libertychick · 15/01/2015 16:48

Cross post Blair! My autumn book says autumns look best in monochromatic eg deep brown, coffee, beige and oyster or gold, bronze, mustard and amber.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/01/2015 16:53

I think I need to buy belts as I can't add a splash with scarves Grin

Today I'm wearing navy (not the right shade) and chocolate brown and tan (and black tights). Winter is hard for me! I would love to go crazy in summer and wear a coloured skirt and top, but the trouble is then you have to buy a lot more clothes as they are all so distinctive.

I can't open any links on here lately, maybe it's just work computer. They all get stuck redirecting from MN.

OneLittleLady · 15/01/2015 16:55

I really want a black maxi dress for my holiday but it's hard to find one that isn't a clingy vest shape or utterly over the top in terms of volumes. I'd like something semi fitted at least. anyone have any ideas where I could look? I do look good in black, many people have said so, so black it is, plus i think black could do both day and night for me without me having to pack double the amount of items, all i'd need to do is change accessories and shoes

Karbea · 15/01/2015 17:19

Today I wore a cream t-shirt, blue jeans (slightly too light really), and a brown tweed blazer, I wore a brown belt, but it had a silver buckle and tan flat long casual boots (but not my uggs!!!).
lib I think when I have more of a correct wardrobe I'll end up wearing lighter tops or brighter for summer and darker (navy, brown??) trousers and a navy or shade of brown blazer in winter, whereas summer I'm all about dresses so they'll all be coloured, maybe using belts & bags to add even more!!! Colour. This is a big thing for me as I wear black.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/01/2015 17:20

One I think I've read good things about Dorothy Perkins stretchy maxis in previous summers, not sure about where to buy looser style ones. There will be much more choice in a few weeks anyway. When are you off to Florida? :)

justasecond · 15/01/2015 17:21

I ordered this the other day after looking at Hopefully's blog. Arrived today and I love it. Reminds me of one I missed out on getting in All Saints last year. If you are still reading thanks Hopefully!
these Hush trousers arrived and had to be sent back. They were huge and quite unflattering. I don't believe the model is wearing a S/M. I think even the XS would be huge.

Alsoflamingo · 15/01/2015 17:21

Hi all and thanks for getting new thread up and running. I am so with you One. Another day of trying to sort my wardrobe. The trouble is there is only so much sorting you can do before stuff needs chucking out to make space. GAAAH. Am totally determined not to buy ANYTHING until I have done major prune. So far just a bit of easy, entry level weeding out has gone on. Let's just - ahem - forget about the Bajuken package that might have arrived today (rude not to snap up some bits at those prices…). Went for a deep green tunic with a cowl neck and a blue peplum top. Am such a luddite I have no idea how to link in clever way. Will work out how and return!

Alsoflamingo · 15/01/2015 17:23

www.baukjen.com/uk/baukjen-sale/tops-sale/dalry-peplum-top-nile-blue.htm

Right - so how the Hell do I turn that into the cunning 'here' type link? What a klutz I am…. Hangs head in shame...

OneLittleLady · 15/01/2015 17:24

balir we go at the end of March. I'm so excited, I've never been on a plane before! Blush

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/01/2015 17:32

Nice top Also I noticed that yesterday but I've already had an order from the Baukjen sale :)

Hmm I think it's only asos links I can't open Confused

Links are like this: link words with that space in the middle and without the one before the word link. Hope that makes sense.

One exciting! Who are you flying with - I've only been long haul once before.

OneLittleLady · 15/01/2015 17:35

I'm not sure who I'm flying with tbh Blair I've left all the arrangements to Dp as he knows what he's doing. I do know, however, that we've got a stop over in Toronto. Two weeks away on a proper holiday just seems magical right now to me. I'm very lucky because MIL has paid for flights and the villa so all I need to do is turn up with my clothes and spending money. I am very grateful, I'd never be going if it weren't for her
