So how many perfumes do people on this thread have? Grin
Just for research purposes obviously Blush
Just rearranged my perfume shelf and it's looking a little full...

ToysRLuv · 18/02/2015 23:57

Far too many. There's a picture of my perfume cupboard somewhere on this thread..

canny1234 · 19/02/2015 00:26

I have about 60+ perfumes but only 29 are bottles. The rest are decants or minis.I really don't like having too many perfumes .It makes me feel claustrophobic
Sotd is L'Ete en Douce by L'artisan parfumeur.Soapy linden blossom - probably a good contender for a fresh,clean-smelling easy to wear perfume ( also has a white musk base).

Erm, about twenty full bottles, I'd say? They're in a large box and I should probably do a clear out. Also many samples.

SOTD: Seville A L'Aube again. May be addicted.

FrugalFashionista · 19/02/2015 13:10

I have an embarrasingly large collection, mostly samples, I'd say 700+ but obviously have stopped counting Blush My FB numbers are not too bad, enough to fill a shelf, and I have a few dozen minis and decants. More perfume that I need in my lifetime and this is why I have stopped acquiring new ones. I love understanding what's out there, and I love having minute quantities of exquisite vintage stuff that I can sometimes wear. Also feel that this is my private thing, a hidden niche of expertise most people who know me well know nothing about.

Tried to open my bottle of Y - nothing would be better for a spring day - but the old, fragile bottle cap is stuck so I had to dab on some Femme, Rochas. And it is amazing too, somehow exactly what I want and need today.

I've been a really lazy perfume wearer of late. Most likely because I have misplaced some of my favorites. They are in a box somewhere, but the ones I love most are missing.

Whoever was wafting about in a cloud of 28 La Pausa, I totally understand...

FrugalFashionista · 19/02/2015 13:12

Oh and Toys what a relief that your DS is fine!

Laine de verre by Serge Lutens today.I love this - a citrusy-fresh clean white woody musk with Cashmeran. Its a 'clean' smell,an anti-perfume.I happen to love these type of smells.Aqua Universalis by MFK is also another clean favourite of mine.
Interestingly Laine de verre has mostly terrible reviews probably written by Lutens enthusiasts in love with his rich intense perfumes, not the atypical "eau's".

ToysRLuv · 21/02/2015 12:41

Sotd: Mystero di Roma. I just love the Biagiottis, apart from the new Venezias - poooey! What a disappointment...

So, what is everyone's biggest perfume related disappointment? I think for me it has to be the aforementioned Venezias and possibly ELdO Incense & Bubblegum. As it combines two of my favourite things, I so wanted it to smell deep and delish with a hint of "artificial flavours". Alas I was disappointed. Acrid!!!

FrugalFashionista · 21/02/2015 13:08

Toys my main perfume-related disappointment is that often after having invested in a FB, I lose interest or find an off-note that I don't like.

SOTD Chanel No. 19 EDP, from a bottle. All wrong somehow, too perfumey for slobbing around at home, I can almost taste it.

ToysRLuv · 21/02/2015 13:23

That's very annoying, frugal! I get it about almost being able to taste it.. after all taste and smell are very closely linked.

I think that sometimes samples and tester bottles can be slightly affected by light and temperature. Also the age and batch (changes in formula, process or equipment) of samples/bottles matters, so I often find that a new FB smell a bit different to what I thought it would, even if it's not "off".

canny1234 · 21/02/2015 13:51

I sprayed Carillon Pour un Ange on the other day before breakfast. Then subsequently tasted it in my boiled egg - Yuk!
I also have a problem with ordering full bottles and then become bored easily. The best solution I reckon to that,is to swop fresh decants with other perfumistas.
My main perfume disappointment is not being able to resist a bargain.A visit to Tk Maxx means I have to peruse the perfume section and invariably end up buying something.I bought Penhaligons Elixir recently - its lovely but incense is so not my thing. Now I have to go through the hassle of swopping it.I also bought several perfumes in a Crabtree and Evelyn closing down sale I didn't really need or want.

ToysRLuv · 21/02/2015 14:56

Canny, what would you like to swap to? I really like the sound of Elixir..

canny1234 · 21/02/2015 15:37

It actually smells lovely on but I just know Elixir is something I'm never going to wear - really redolent of the Incense in our tiny rural Catholic church ( priest got a bit carried away at midnight mass this Christmas and flung the incense thingummyjig thing violently until the dc s started coughing violently.Don't know what it did for the rest of the congregation as their average age is tipping towards 80).
What bottles do you have to swop Toys?

ToysRLuv · 21/02/2015 16:16

Regarding enthusiastic priest, I know what you mean! Grin Especially the new ones like to make... ahem.. an impact with big wafts of incense.

Toys are the perfumes in your list bottles, samples or decants - kind of interested in YSL In Love Again. One of the best fruity florals ever made ime. Do you still have Femme?

Getting to a more pleasant stage with Chanel No 19. I like it best the morning after.

FrugalFashionista · 21/02/2015 19:07

Sorry read again - I assume bottles

ToysRLuv · 21/02/2015 19:11

They are all FBs with variable amounts left in them. The In Love Again is almost full (approx 97 ml left out of 100 ml), original formula. I quite like it, but it's not one of my faves, so up for swap. Yes, I still have the Femme mini (7ish ml), but it's up north. Can get it for you maybe in the summer?

FrugalFashionista · 21/02/2015 19:18

That would work and 7ml would be perfect! I might give In Love Again a go this spring so PM me if you are able to send it to Italy. Anything particular you are interested in atm?

ToysRLuv · 21/02/2015 19:22

I can't send to Italy, but can take it with me to Scandi and send/give it to you there in the summer, if you'd like?

I like most smooth Oriental stuff, as you might know. Any bottles want to get rid of, or samples/decants?

nevis42 · 21/02/2015 20:11

I would be interested in the Magie Noire....love that perfume!

ToysRLuv · 21/02/2015 20:14

I can swap or sell, nevis. :)
