Remember our chats??

Our SOTD (scent of the day)?

Is there a thread I've missed Shock

If not, lets take it up here :)

SOTD an unknown sample from my perfume drawer, woodsy and irisy, am baffled but enjoying it!

Ah here you are! This dropped off my chat list for awhile.

Have managed to break out of my chanel rut (have been wearing 28 La Pausa endlessly) with Maison Martin Margiela (untitled).

Really love this, starts off with a very heavy scent of crushed stems, appears to fade away and then comes back all woody floral with a touch of what to me smells like smoke but the notes say incense. The jasmine is done v lightly. Love the evolution. Love the ultimate warm musky skin scent it becomes. You have to wear this a few times to appreciate it. This is not a scent you should buy after one spray in the shop as it changes a lot over the course of a wearing. But green lovers should definitely try it!

Mmmmmmm :)

I've got a bottle of the original Diorella (bough, but never used by my gran). It's not really my cup of tea, but there's nothing like it around any more.

SOTD: Hermes: Un Jardin Sur le Toit. Fancied something lighter today.

SirVixofVixHall · 13/02/2015 19:23

Toys if you ever want to flog it, I would be keen. I have an olde bottle, but it is starting to go off a bit. And although I do wear the new version, the difference makes me not love it as much.

SirVixofVixHall · 13/02/2015 19:25

wilting, I like the sound of the Maison Martin Margiela. My SOTD was Eau d'hadrien, I love the bright green crushed lemon leaf crispness of it.

canny1234 · 13/02/2015 20:15

Ooh one of my favourites is also Eau d 'hadrien.I love the aromatic lemon in this.I am rather tempted to try the equivalent Profumum Roma lemon perfume as its meant to be very long lasting ( but in all other respects similar) to Hadrien.
SOTD is Jacinthe Et Rose ( E Coudray). The dry down of this is reminiscent of Anais Anais with lots of hyacinth and orange blossom following a pure pink rose opening.

leedy · 13/02/2015 21:29

I love the Maison Martin Margiela one as well - definitely one for "green" lovers.

TweenageAngst · 14/02/2015 10:56

SOTD Tobacco rose from Papillion. Its Saturday and this is not a perfume for work. Its like falling asleep in a rose garden, fresh not jammy as a lot of rose scents are on me. Not sure I will fork out for a FB though.

shins · 14/02/2015 21:09

Sotd: Carnal Flower because after long dark arse-freezing weeks, it felt like spring today! Lovely.

canny1234 · 16/02/2015 00:06

Toomuchtea the owls are in good voice tonight.I've fed the call into the Rspb website and apparently they are tawny owls.We are lucky to live adjacent to National Trust land and the wildlife is pretty spectacular round here.
Sotd is Penhaligons Violetta - 4 sprays this morning meant the Violetta really lasted.

FrugalFashionista · 16/02/2015 06:58

Username I like Faubourg too and it's not easy to match, at least not on the high street. Other Hermes offerings are a bit different in style because the in-house perfumer is a different person with a very different style (though Hermes perfumes are still great and very unique). But you could google different perfumes by Maurice Roucel. He has done some for Frederic Malle. But with your highly developed taste you would probably fall in love with lots of perfumes as your style veers classical - so I would encourage you to go to a good department store, or better yet, an indie perfumery, and sniff around. I don't think you will find a better version of Faubourg but you might find other very different things to love.

Again really impressed by what people here have chosen to wear. I've been travelling (back at midnight yesterday) and wearing Vega, Chanel 5 extrait and nothing. Spring is in the air and I might try my lighter, greener and more floral 'fumes today.

FrugalFashionista · 16/02/2015 07:06

Just adding a list of some Roucel perfumes for Username. It's an intriguing mixture of high and low - he has a symphonic style and it might be fun to sample what he accomplishes with different budgets. Oh, and to anyone new to perfume the Turin & Sanchez Guide is a great way to start creating must-smell lists!

FrugalFashionista · 16/02/2015 08:07

SOTD Shalimar Madagascar. The weather has turned bone-achingly cold and humid: I need a syrupy layer of vanilla with a lashing of leather. Couldn't find my By Kilian velvet pouch, the heavy-breathing tropical hothouse feel of tuberose and coconut in Beyond Love would feel just right too.

SOTD Miller Harris Terre D'Iris yet again. It's just that right mixture of fresh, cosy, and comforting.

canny1234 · 16/02/2015 11:43

Crabtree and Evelyn Florentine and Freesia Water. This is an absolutely delicious Freesia smelling of the sappy fresh flowers but sadly has the longevity of a gnat.I think ( av. of 10 sprays each time) I will get through this bottle in super quick time.Plus the bottle is pretty with its old-fashioned bulb atomiser. Its mild and spring like here and all the snowdrops are in flower.

ToysRLuv · 16/02/2015 13:17

Tween: Your package arrived on Sat. Thanks so much!! I quite like Ben-he is very different from anything else I own.. Resiny.. A welcome distraction, as DS has developed somekind of hip problem since then. He is now completely unable to walk. We are seeing doc in an hour, fingers crossed. Sotd: Papillon Angelique (thanks again Tween). I like this more than I thought I would it's very smooth and reassuring (I know that is a weird adjective to use!).

ToysRLuv · 16/02/2015 13:22

Leedy: Missed your question earlier about Ouarzazate. It's definitely not meatball scented Grin. Sort of light, balmy and spicy. Sort of incense light. Goes away very quickly, though, which is a disappointment.

Very Envy of your travels! The farthest east I have been is the east side of the Bosporus.

ToysRLuv · 16/02/2015 13:24

Tween: Will send your package as soon as I go close to the post office, but definitely this week (I might have to get the pram back out for DS, though)!

Thanks, Too! Flowers Trying to stay calm.

leedy · 17/02/2015 10:26

Hope all went well at the docs!

SOTD: L'Artisan Seville A L'Aube, which I picked up cheap after reading lovely descriptions of it on this thread. It's yummy (though does smell a bit like orange-blossom cake).

canny1234 · 17/02/2015 13:06

Tyacas Tauer samples have arrived.Wow Lone star really does smell like a cowboy - Gauchos with a bit of masculine swea attached.I have Rose de Kandehar on the other hand and the zesty smelling Rose Chypree on one arm.I don't seem to have learnt that perfume restraint, when testing, is a good thing!
Hope everything's OK Toys?

CointreauVersial · 17/02/2015 13:30

Hey perfumistas. Just though I'd pop in to say I'm wearing the most appropriate perfume today - Sunshine & Pancakes by 4160 Tuesdays. Smile

Hi everyone! DS is fine. Spent a long time at the a&e, but got diagnosis which is quite common and will go away on its own with rest and painkillers. Got to see the fluid around his joint on the ultrasound. I think DS quite enjoyed it all.

Sotd: Almond Amour. Comforting and in the front of the cupboard. Really should shuffle stuff around..

I like Seville A L'Aube, but its not as sweet or deep as I would like it to be. Sunshine and Pancakes sounds lovely.. Also, I adore Parma Violets. Powdery sweet.. mmmmm.... Lonestar memories is definitely for a manly man. A motorcyclist type or similar. Too much somke and tar to be wearable for me (although I would possibly have it as a candle).
