Well done you and DD!

Stokey · 31/01/2015 17:39

Hello perfumistas,
I've absolutely adored my sample of Portrait of a Lady but can not justify the price. Can anyone recommend something similar?

leedy · 31/01/2015 18:21

Seville a l'Aube sounds delicious!

SOTD is Molton Brown Apuldre, which is green and junipery. Think I needed something warming given that I have a cold...

canny1234 · 01/02/2015 08:40

Stokey I just buy a split on Fragantica rather than a full bottle. There's a host this morning for Portrait of a lady. You will have to register first to see splits though.Alternatively you can now buy 10 mls travel vials on the Malle website.

canny1234 · 01/02/2015 08:47

I can't spell this morning obviously!
Thank you Asgoodasitgets.
I'm celebrating by letting the DC have a lie-in.No early start for Athletics today Thank God.Competitions are taking over our life at the moment.

goodasitgets · 02/02/2015 07:43

I'm just after a mix of things to try really. Want to find a perfume that's a bit more niche and individual if that makes sense. But I get overwhelmed going in Selfridges and stuff to sniff so want some to try at home Smile

goodasitgets · 02/02/2015 09:32

This is the other one I was looking at

SOTD is Miller Harris Terre D'Iris, which is rapidly becoming one of my total favourites. It's got the powdery iris thing going on, but with bitter citrus and herbs. Just yummy.

canny1234 · 02/02/2015 10:01

Goodasitgets you can buy samples from a UK company - Scentsamples.co.uk.They are gradually increasing the no. of scents they have. But it sounds like Nose would be your best bet.You could do the Nose Diagnostic first.
I can also recommend the 4160 Tuesdays sample sets though and the JoLoves one looks good.Miller Harris have lovely perfume sets and I think they have a sample set too.
Thank you Toomuchtea!.
I also love Terre d'Iris Leedy. In fact I love several of the Miller Harris perfumes - all of the Citrus,La Pluie,Fleur Du Matin and the woody,/tobaccey La Feuilles de Tabac.Swopped away La Fumee and need to swop Rose Noir though.
Sotd is the delicious feminine Penhaligons Violetta.

Ooh I did the nose diagnostic, thank you! Says
Top note litchi, heart notes fig and nose, base notes Indonesian patchouli and White musk
Recommendations are creed love in white, kilian cruel intentions, diptique eau plurielle

canny1234 · 02/02/2015 10:23

Goodasitgets its worth trying those samples. You can do the diagnostic several times altering your likes/dislikes/perfumes to try different samples.I think its the cheapest way of trying lots of scents.
I can also send you some samples if you want.

goodasitgets · 02/02/2015 10:33

I would love to try anything you're happy to send, I can pay postage Smile
I'm playing with the diagnostic now, quite addictive! Keeps throwing creed love in white up at the top no matter which of my perfumes I put in so must be something in that

Well I've put nearly all my perfumes in (I was bored!) and creed white in love is consistently the top one so must smell that

Noix de Tubereuse by Miller Harris.A really easy to wear relatively tame Tuberose with Mimosa and Violet.I think I under-applied as the last one I tried was Carnal Flower, which is a pretty potent Tuberose.
Goodasitgets your samples are going in the evening post.
Toomuchtea - interesting description. Are these trailing rags a good thing or a bad thing?

leedy · 03/02/2015 16:48

I got a sample of that recently, canny - was surprised how much I liked it as I find a lot of "big florals" really overpowering. Possibly I can take much more when they don't contain the dreaded jasmine, which makes me feel slightly sick in a lot of fragrances.

SOTD: sample of Miller Harris Terre de Bois from my desk drawer, which is a nice herbal eau de cologne sort of scent (the perfume, not my desk drawer).

goodasitgets · 03/02/2015 18:34

You're a star Smile
SOTD is a sample out a magazine (having a lazy day!)
Miss dior which I would have never tried if I have just sniffed it. Now it's on my skin it's a lovely soft scent I'm quickly falling in love with

No SOTD yet but I am burning some scoopable wax in a burner - it's called BDSM Grin and quite frankly I would like it as perfume!

leedy · 04/02/2015 14:28

SOTD is a sample of Olfactive Studios Lumiere Blanche, which I really like - sort of light, airy, creamy, spicy (not a million miles away from a chai latte, now that I think of it). Might go for a FB of this at some stage.

Termagant · 04/02/2015 14:41

Hi all,

Sotd is Tom Ford Champaca Absolute. My husband bought it for me as a surprise christmas present and I'm still coming to grips with it!

I don't adore it, although it is as well crafted and long lasting as the other private blends I think I just find it a bit safe!
