Have dusted down my puffy down coat....miserable here

QueenCardigan · 14/10/2014 07:47

Wet here too. The barbour will be making an appearance ths morning.

shop try them. I have evening shoes from bertie and new look with a cost difference of £70. Can't tell the difference in comfort at all.

I'm loving the colder weather for clothes though. It's amazing how many different combinations you can make with a few grey or navy tops and different cardigans Smile

Has anyone ever totally wanted something for ages and then when you get it you realise that it's not as versatile as you thought it would be. I wanted navy boots all last winter and was so happy to get some this year but actually I'm still living in my grey ones as somehow navy don't work as well as I thought they would Confused.

OneLittleLady · 14/10/2014 07:48

It's utterly miserable here, been raining constantly since I got up at 6am. Think it's time I got my proper winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves out! not that I have been looking forward to this moment, oh no

Still in absolute agony with my wrist and my x-ray report is still not back yet so have to wait and see if it is back at the gps next week for the appointment I've booked. Also, my blood test results aren't back either and it's been almost a month since they were done! Apparently the hospital are very slow at sending the results of tests back to the gps even though they are meant to be done within 7 days. Really not happy but can't blame the surgery for this as it's the hospital causing the delays. Bit fed up as it means I keep suffering with the symptoms until they get results back and either know the cause or know where to look next for answers Sad

AmberNectarine · 14/10/2014 08:21

That being said about evening shoes, I spent £400 on Loubs and they are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever owned. R&B great for comfy evening shoes.

OneLittleLady · 14/10/2014 08:28

I cannot for the life of me imagine owning any Loubs. Every picture I've seen of them shows them to be very narrow so I doubt, even if I could afford them, that they would fit my feet. Plus I hate uncomfortable shoes of any kind and refuse to wear something that hurts for fashion

BrandyAlexander · 14/10/2014 09:06

Yes if there are two pairs of shoes I have regretted in recent years - the Loubs were one and the Dune pointy flats were the other. Both hell on earth.

AmberNectarine · 14/10/2014 09:25

I still don't think I necessarily regret them, but I couldn't wear them to work, for example. I have a Gucci pair which are really comfy and a Stuart Weitzman pair which are 4.5inches but incredibly comfortable. I'd love to know the science behind it.

LinusDKD · 14/10/2014 09:39

My Loubs are gorgeous but definitely taxi shoes.

The Manolos I bought recently are a lot more comfortable even though I have only worn then around the house but I will put them to the test in NY

The SA told me that M Blahnik does pay special attention to making his shoes as comfortable as possible and that's why he doesn't design platform shoes. Not sure this is true or whether this was her SA spiel to convince me to buy the shoes.

one you need to hassle, hassle, hassle. It's just not good enough that you are kept waiting for results. Get your GP to contact the hospital to hassle them for results. It's times like this that I'm thankful that I know how the system works. If you're in pain and waiting for treatment dependent upon results then please make a nuisance of yourself.

libertychick · 14/10/2014 10:43

Can I just echo what queenc has said one? Chase them. It's not unusual for bloods etc to go missing.

libertychick · 14/10/2014 10:58

Btw I have promised the Aveda shampoo to two people. I'll get it into the post I hope on Thursday.

Sleepwhenidie · 14/10/2014 11:30

I have a pair of Loubs (almond toe, 100mm called pigalle I think) and they are very comfortable. I definitely struggle with anything higher than that. Had a pair of higher Loubs with a small platform and they were agonising, worn once an debated, same for a pair of J Choo sandals of similar height with platform, beautiful but not enough to justify the suffering!

Sleepwhenidie · 14/10/2014 11:31

Debated Confused - that should say ebayed!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 14/10/2014 11:46

I always thought platforms were meant to be more comfortable Confused

When I bought my aquazzuras I did some research and they are supposed to be very comfortable, in a similar way to Manolos. To be fair they are only 3 inch heel or something, but I did wear them for about 7 hours in a row. I think my feet would be too wide for Loubs as well, especially as I have narrow heels and walk out of anything without a strap.

I'm wearing my R&B shoe boots to work every day at the moment and they are super comfy and easy to walk in.

Karbea · 14/10/2014 13:18

I've 3 loubs, the two 85mm ones are comfy, the higher ones, which I wore to my wedding were comfy on the day but are like wearing pins now.

santamarianovella · 14/10/2014 14:18

How do u all link from Pinterest now?

Like sleep I ebayed my Loubs, didn't use them that much and decided to use the funds for a lanvin boots instead, which I'm very happy with.

one yes, that's really odd, do chase them.

Drywhiteplease · 14/10/2014 16:27

I have a high shoe pain threshold but have been defeated by my Boden silver pointy sling backs Sad. Weirdly the Next synthetic, v cheap equivalent are like slippers but are shot. I think it's all to do with individual feet shapes and the particular cut of the shoe.
I have a pair of black suede Mary Janes with a 4.5 heel and a 1cm platform.....sooooo comfy
Confused

shopafrolic · 14/10/2014 16:37

I have had such a lovely day. DS was on a school trip so I had longer to play with so went to Milton keynes for a big old nose round.
First stop I bought some Bare Minerals foundation and concealer. I have never tried it before but I like the fact that it is very light coverage and buildable.
Next I went to look at the heels in TopShop. But I felt as though I didn't belong in there at all Hmm. They had them in nude and black but I wasn't wowed and felt so old that I left.
Then I went to GAP as I had £70 on a gift card to spend. I bought a pair of black skinny cords and some plum coloured skinny khakis (on Pin). I also grabbed a white shirt for £14 to try and see how often I wear it. I wanted to try it under my black merino sweater but I'm not sure if the knit is too thin. Does anyone else do shirts under sweaters?
And then, trainers - I am using my New Balance loads on the school run so I have blatantly copied Dry and bought some Adidas Gazelles in Maroon and white here. I tried on the high top version too but they were uncomfortable at the front of my ankle.
And finally - I went mad in Mac getting 3 bright coloured lipsticks. A red, burgundy and a fuchsia pink. So...much....fun.
Novice how are you feeling?
Liberty thinking of you
One what everyone else said.

libertychick · 14/10/2014 18:05

Sounds like a lovely day shop. I am so tired. DD was up at 3am with a high temp. Took ages to settle her and I fell asleep in the armchair in her bedroom. Woke at 7 w sore neck and cold feet. Early night coming up.

QueenC how annoying re your navy boots. They are lovely though. Sometimes it takes me a while to start wearing something new. I think you'll get the wear over time.
