I don't get it. I must be old!

Sleepwhenidie · 13/10/2014 16:11

No Novice you just have good taste!

OneLittleLady · 13/10/2014 16:30

Ugh, they are awful Novice you aren't old, you just have taste!

shopafrolic · 13/10/2014 16:47

Nasty

shopafrolic · 13/10/2014 16:48

As in they are nasty.

Amber I love you! I bloody well do. The scarlet dress of sexiness has arrived and is absolutely perfect (need Spanx though). Thanks

Fedupnagging · 13/10/2014 16:50

Lib am sure you didn't look awful this morning but totally get feeling awful if you really don't feel good in what you are wearing. Glad you got it sorted.

Novice am pleased you have finally been to the GP and that you are staying put for a while. Btw, those boots are just awful!

Welcome back Mara - wish you'd brought some of that sun back with you!

Sleep hope your dd feels better soon and hugs to Shop dealing with a tantrum.

Wore my huge tartan scarf today and had lots of lovely comments Smile. Wasn't looking quite so good after walking fedupdog - thought the rain had stopped only it returned with a vengeance and I got soaked. Ugh.

BrandyAlexander · 13/10/2014 16:52

Lol!!! Glad it wasn't just me then.

I am so jealous! That dress has sold out in my size, why did I hesitate?!Envy

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/10/2014 16:59

Me too, I was looking at it when there was 1 left and I didn't know the codes could be stacked! I am looking at another xmas party dress now though which I'll link if I get.

You can't both wear it to the MU though Wink

shopafrolic · 13/10/2014 17:15

What do we think of WITs latest venture?

BrandyAlexander · 13/10/2014 17:19

I was looking it earlier. I guess it's just like a magazine but online. Good for her I guess though I certainly wouldn't see it as my sole source. I think it's a well laid out website though.

I actually prefer dressipi which filters stuff to me aimed at my body shape, colouring and height. I have found them to be quite accurate.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/10/2014 17:22

I haven't used dressipi in ages, I did invest some time on there telling it what I liked but it never got it quite right and now sends me emails with things I would never buy. Maybe it's better now though.

I think WIT's site looks visually stunning but at the end of the day it's some pretty pictures and a big bunch of affiliate links!

OneLittleLady · 13/10/2014 17:22

it rained all day here and it was dark when I first went out! I'm also dying of freshers flu by the time I got home, I had a combination of curls/frizz and hat hair, it did not look good.

Speaking of curls, are there are any products you curly haired MNvers would recommend for me to bring out the new found curl in my hair? I've been using the boots curl creme and it works so long as I don't try and scrunch the crunch out of my hair once it drys, if you know what I mean. I'm avoiding brushing as much as I can but I get awful tangles under the back of my hair from scarves rubbing etc. I've bought a wide tooth comb and leave in conditioner but still struggling with tangles vs brush

libertychick · 13/10/2014 17:31

I have found dressipi ok actually.

one I hate to tell you this but you can't run your fingers through curly hair. Mine always feels tangled at the back of my neck. The less you touch it the better it looks. It is quite difficult to get used to and one of the reasons why I straightened my hair for years as I liked the swishy feeling iyswim.

If you scrunch the curls v gently when dry it helps with getting rid of the crispy feeling you get from leaving hair to dry with the curl cream.

OneLittleLady · 13/10/2014 17:51

liberty i do try to avoid touching it whenever I can but sometimes the knots are so big that I have to untangle them as they interfere with me sleeping Blush I usually only comb when wet with plenty of leave in conditioner despite the repeated tales of me splitting my hair if i comb it wet! it's like my hair changed overnight, it was always straight but frizzy before and for the last year now it's been wavy/curly/frizzy!

Karbea · 13/10/2014 18:08

Evening all!

The Uggs are definitely not my taste.
I didn't think much of Wits new site really, it doesn't give that much added value.
I love the concept of dressipi but it does seem to ignore any information you've given it.

OneLittleLady · 13/10/2014 18:28

I like the idea of Dressipi but it keeps recommending me really smart work wear which, while nice and would mostly suit my shape, is nothing like what I wear at all or like what I need to wear right now. It also often suggests very heavily embellished tops which I really don't like at all, I like my drama to come from drapes/folds/pleats/patterns/fabrics

Karbea · 13/10/2014 18:40

At 5ft tall and fairly petite it recommends me long tall Sally and often larger lady brands. Also often things are out of stock. Plus it often shows me very mumsy labels.

BrandyAlexander · 13/10/2014 18:41

Oh that's interesting! The suggestions that dressipi made at the beginning weren't great but if you click on the cross and say why it's a bad recommendation then it doesn't show you eg embellished tops again. Also you can click on whether it's work or casual or evening - think there are 5 choices. I will log in and see what I said.

As a complete aside, I have been on mumsnet more today. OMG there are some really lovely people on here but bloody hell there are some right dicks as well! Guess that's just every day life!Grin

QueenCardigan · 13/10/2014 19:18

novice I bloody love you. My carpet sweep/Hoover thing arrived and I lve it Grin.
one I love the naked range from boots for dd hair.

I don't think much of WiTs thing at all really. I can't see what it adds to the already oversaturated market of blogs/magazines. As usual the prices are madness compared to what most can actually afford so I think it will only appeal to a niche market. But I get the concept and good on her for trying.

Karbea · 13/10/2014 19:24

What's everyone's thoughts on this site Haircvt.com ?

Sleepwhenidie · 13/10/2014 19:43

I only had a quick look at the WIT thing, the knitwear section and found it pretty uninspiring tbh. Also I suspect most people spending those amounts of money on clothes have a pretty clear idea of what they want and where to look (or is that just my misconception?)

shopafrolic · 13/10/2014 19:45

Talk to me about CPW for evening shoes. There are a red sueded pair from TopShop for under £50. Given I may only wear them 4 times a year I am very tempted to try them. Will they break my feet?
DS is on a school trip tomorrow so I'm tempted to head to the shops as I'll have more time than usual. Perhaps I'll try them.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/10/2014 19:57

I agree Sleep - am sure it's supposed to be aspirational but as people said on the other thread, it doesn't take much skill to pick out nice designer pieces. Any of us could do that (QueenC does every Sunday!) and we aren't fashion editors.

I hadn't seen that site before Karbea but it looks interesting!

shop evening wear is the one area where I don't really think about CPW Blush I think for me it's more important to feel amazing when I'm out, plus of course expensive shoes may be more comfortable anyway. Love the topshop shoes, such a great colour.

libertychick · 13/10/2014 20:00

Worth a try on Shop. I always like how Topshop shoes look but last year I ordered about 5 or 6 pairs to try and found them all very uncomfortable - generally quite hard leather. I am a softie though.

Sleep I agree, I just looked at the knitwear section on WIT and thought 'yawn'.

One sorry to hear the tangles are that annoying. I don't have the book anymore but I think the curly girl woman Lorraine Massey? recommended making a home detangler - as far as I remember it's just a mix of conditioner and water and you could spray that on lightly in the evening and comb through before bedtime - might leave your hair a bit greasy though.

BrandyAlexander · 13/10/2014 20:11

QueenC that's brilliant! I wondered how you were getting on with it a couple of days ago, then remembered you were away. It's so quick and light and just perfect for when you don't want to drag out the Hoover. Happy days!Grin

Shop, nooooo! Don't compromise on evening shoes. The.pain.will.not.be.worth.At.all.
