So, yesterday I went to Oxford Street to get the perfect black trousers. These were the ones I wanted Kooples. I went to M & S and tried 3 pairs of 12's on. They were all baggy on the thighs and tight on the calfs. Then I went to Topshop and tried one pair of cigarette pants on. Again they looked like jods. Then to Banana Republic where joyfully I was a 10 only the 4 pairs in there were horrible. Then to Cos. What a selection of shapeless, yellow items there were in there (but no trews). Then a new & Other Stories shop - what a mess that shop is.

Then to the Kooples. No 12's or 14's.

At this point I was so hot and grumpy that I gave up and went for a large vino. Lordy Oxford at at 7pm yesterday was blardy awful. Give me nice, quiet York any day.

Awks · 17/09/2014 22:10

Thought I got heattech tops from Uniqlo. Bet it's the mildest winter for 25 years now. Same as when I bought a snow shovel, it didn't snow here for 8 years.

Awks · 17/09/2014 22:20

Just read last couple of pages. Santa your school run outfit sounds lovely. Try not to give a shiny shite what anyone else says on here on some random thread.

justasecond · 17/09/2014 22:31

I feel worn out just reading that Awks Grin not surprised you gave up, Oxford St does that to me too.
The school run thread is full of competitve scruffiness. Very strange. I am like Dry and even wear makeup to go to the local shops. However this is mainly because I am perma anaemic and look ill and yellow without a bit of blusher and concealer at the v least. In fact on the odd occaision I have been seen without makeup people ask if I am ok. There was one occaiion when I took my mum to a v early doctors appt with no time to put makeup on and he asked me if I was ok as I looked like I had thalasseamia Blush
Love the pistols Marsha have you tried them on yet?

santamarianovella · 17/09/2014 22:33

Thanks all, the thought of turning my car back and asking them what they meant by "very nice" did cross my mind for a sec!

marsha I was wearing the one I bought from liberty too, black tweed,I'm so glad I listened to you all and kept it, I've worn it and the other red one loads of times, very easy to wear and look good with anything.marant makes the best jacket out there,

sleep did a quick search about the movie, sounds fab,

queen like you I do dress up,if im not in my gym clothes then,im dressed up for the day as sometimes i need to get things done after drop off and i dont get back till later,so I honestly can't go around wandering in my pjs all day!
its really demeaning to think just because you are a SAHM you shouldn't even try to look good or dress nicely ,yes I became a mum, I haven't become gender confused or anything!

justasecond · 17/09/2014 22:45

I think your outfit sounds great santa
Shop that is v interesting re colours as I stalk watch what you buy a I think I suit the same sort of colours as you khaki, orange, grey. I am not sure about black on me either although I do have a few black things. Look forward to hearing what she says.

Awks · 17/09/2014 22:45

Life would be so lovely if it wasn't for "other people".

Am so pissed off with myself, there was this dress in Topshop yesterday and because I was in a mood re the trouser situation, I didn't buy it. All the way home I was wishing I had bought it and thought I'd get it online. Have logged on now and I can't find it. It was almost an Irish Dancing sort of vibe - black with loads of embroidery and a white collar. Why didn't I buy it - what an idiot - when will I ever learn?

shopafrolic · 17/09/2014 22:57

I can't afford to be a Winter! Hmm night all

MarshaBrady · 18/09/2014 07:02

I have never seen anyone in pjs for school run, I find that bonkers. How can you not even get dressed?

I do big sunnies, that's my easy way out. That's it.

I'm not keen on those Burberry monogrammed blankets that are everywhere. But I am rather impressed that they managed to get so many slebs to wear one.

LinusDKD · 18/09/2014 07:07

Morning!

awks it is so frustrating when you are looking for something specific and then can't find it for love nor money.

It's raining here this morning Shock so I am wearing my favourite boyish outfit: Jimmies and one of my Asos ls baseball tees. Might wear my Superga when I go out as my bikers don't really work with boyfriend jeans.

MarshaBrady · 18/09/2014 07:07

Justa a quick try, but I had the wrong outfit on - Burberry slim navy pants. Although even though I've thought that cigarette pants should only go with ballet flats or heels if I had to do the pistol combo the actually look better tucked in.

Awks I can't do real shopping any more! Except a few stores. Annoying about the dress.

Santa I love Marant atm

santamarianovella · 18/09/2014 07:14

Don't like them either marsha, have seen pics of SJP wearing one, she honestly looked just stupid,
awks love to see a pic of that Irish inspired dress,
speaking of trousers, I'm still looking for cropped skinny but not too skinny black trousers, can't find anything I like, it's an impossible task I think.

Sleepwhenidie · 18/09/2014 07:48

Well I have a newfound appreciation for Nick Cave, he was great-my (random) perception was that he would be weird and uncommunicative but he is actually very very funny in a dry way and seems pretty down to earth, not mention incredibly talented. Met him briefly after the show, and his amazing looking wife. And his fan base (unless they were just a bunch of randoms shipped over from LFW) are extremely stylish. I saw all sorts and most of it looked fab. I was particularly Envy of a pale pink tulle midi skirt worn with skintight tank (bodysuit I guess), wide belt and black shoe boots a la Novice, I could never pull that off. It somehow looked modern rather than 1950's parody like me description suggests Grin

One you would love the film, especially as a fan and a music
lover.

Speaking of midi skirts...anyone brave enough to give them a go?

Drywhiteplease · 18/09/2014 07:49

Awks I hate trouser shopping! nothing worse. I feel your pain having same prob with leather skirts, only better because I'm not on Oxford st
I also bought a snow shovel after the whiteout 2011... Gathering dust!!!!
Marsha bet your school gates thing you're a film star!

Drywhiteplease · 18/09/2014 07:50

Justa I wear make up everyday because I'm vain Grin

Sleepwhenidie · 18/09/2014 08:00

Where is the school gate thread? I know there was one slagging 'toned mums in skimpy sports kit recently [ hmm]'. I am mostly fallen out of bed, brushed teeth and in sports kit (non skimpy) in the morning but usually properly dressed and made up for pick up

GeorginaWorsley · 18/09/2014 09:27

I wear subtle make up with gym kit and am slim, toned and tanned Wink
plus super vain.

MarshaBrady · 18/09/2014 09:29

Loads of gym kits at our school.

MarshaBrady · 18/09/2014 09:37

Ha Dry only on sunny days, plus ds has started reception and everyone is so friendly I have been chatting more (sans sunnies)

Stokey · 18/09/2014 09:48

Sleep I'm really lusting after a midi skirt. I was looking for this white faux leather one in Zara yesterday but couldn't find it. And also failed on green one [[http://www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/skirts/midi/midi-skirt-c498016p2148002.html]]. I did wonder whether they are more summery and have been ditched now in favour of winter wardrobe? I'm not sure if they would work with tights.

One I have some GAP high rise skinnies which aren't bad and not too expensive, in fact all jeans are £29 until midnight tonight on line. I also bought the [[http://www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=57403&vid=1&pid=000349597000 GAP ultra skinny trousers]] that Belinda recommended on the workwear thread and they are great.

The girls seemed better this morning Marsha. DD2 was asking to go to nursery though it's her day with her childminder. I think DD1's issue is to do with lunches as she was the only one to have a packed lunch yesterday so had to sit with the teacher on her own. I'm finding the whole lunch thing far too complex as they can decide each day what to have. Anyway she's going to have school dinners for the next two days and then we'll see next week.

Awks I may be able to pop to Topshop for you next week on Tuesday. I'm just by Picc Circus so it's not too far.

I've only done 2 school runs so far, both in boyf jeans, bit of make-up and jacket. That thread was ridiculous.

GeorginaWorsley · 18/09/2014 09:50

Having taken a look at school gate thread and some of the comments I think I will stick with you guys
Smile

Stokey · 18/09/2014 09:50

Ah long post and failing links - here is the green Zara midi.

Sleepwhenidie · 18/09/2014 09:55

Welcome Georgina! Grin

Nice skirt Stokey, suspect tights would be a big no no though...thermal knickers perhaps!

GeorginaWorsley · 18/09/2014 10:28

Have just posted on the 50 thread and described my 'new' style as 'pared down elegance'....Grin

LinusDKD · 18/09/2014 10:29

sleep I can't wait to wear my black midi skirt again! I bought it last winter at H&M and they are selling a similar version again this year in different colours. I saw a teal one online but of course they don't have it in my local H&M. Hmm

stokey I saw the rust version of your green Zara skirt about a month ago in Zara but I'm not in the UK so stock might be different.

I also tried a white faux leather skirt at that time, it might have been the same you linked but it was white and not ecru. Unfortunately it didn't suit me.

Welcome Georgina
