Nope! Can't do midi skirt,

Welcome georgina , stick around we are a friendly bunch Smile

Stokey · 18/09/2014 11:06

Hello Georgina pared down elegance sounds like a great style.

Linus what did you wear your midi skirt with in the winter? Was it you who bought the red H&M one too? I really liked that. I've got a couple of other Zara's near me so could try a different one or order it.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 18/09/2014 11:06

Midi skirts not for me either. I feel so relieved when I realise a trend isn't for me, I see it as money saved Grin

Georgina hi, if I remember right you've posted on here before? Forgive me if it wasn't you! Welcome either way. :)

LinusDKD · 18/09/2014 11:16

I think liberty has the red skirt stokey

I was very boring last winter and just wore it with a fitted black poloneck tee, opaques and Jalouses. I felt a bit Audrey Hepburn in that outfit. Grin

This winter I might try it with a thin jumper but I have yet to find one that works. Maybe a grey or navy one. Or maybe a black/white breton?

I does seem that I need to tuck in whatever top I wear as otherwise it looks a bit bulky.

Stokey · 18/09/2014 11:36

That sounds very classy Linus

I'm thinking maybe a cropped cardie or a short jacket over a tucked in top - I love this look. Glad to hear they work with Jalouses, think I'd try with flats too.

I seem to have bought far too many skirts already these year (at least 8 Blush, but I still need to fill the midi gap. I probably need to start buying tops instead.

I know exactly what you mean Blair, I feel the same way about jumpsuits.

shopafrolic · 18/09/2014 11:49

Welcome again Georgina (I'm sure you've dropped in before right?)
Just back from a new dentist - a lot of ££££ treatment coming up for me so shopping is off limits for a while. Will lust after lovely links still though.

Welcome Georgina, style sounds fab.

Linus pm!

Blair I always feel so relieved when I can't do trends. Leather for eg, it's expensive, I can't do it, I'm happy!

MarshaBrady · 18/09/2014 12:00

Actually Vogue question brewing Grin

are there trends you can't do that you think, phew money saved?

GeorginaWorsley · 18/09/2014 12:02

Twas me,Blair
Was lurking after password upset in April as never bothered to reset!
I read S & B daily though!

GeorginaWorsley · 18/09/2014 12:14

I can't do midi skirts.
frumpy on me and remind me of my 1980 s self.
plus mid calf boots, polo neck tops, neon or pastels

santamarianovella · 18/09/2014 12:17

I think its brogues, and the over accessoriesed look, layered necklaces and bracelets, I can't do any of those,i can do one piece, but nothing like the atlantic pacific woman, or olvia P, and I'm glad,it costs a fortune,

LinusDKD · 18/09/2014 12:24

Statement necklaces, jumpsuits (was tempted by a playsuit this summer though), wedge trainers, boho and many more. Wink

MarshaBrady · 18/09/2014 12:26

My jumpsuit was a mistake, it was worn once. Blush

yy to lots of accessories, a la Atlantic P

LinusDKD · 18/09/2014 12:27

I've just seen this to go with my midi skirt but maybe that's taking the Audrey Hepburn thing a bit too far.

And last time I bought from Baukjen (then still I Oliver) I wasn't impressed with the quality. Might have a look on Asos for something similar.

santamarianovella · 18/09/2014 12:36

Oh,and those big feathery jackets ,worn by most of the MIC gang, I could never pull that off,

QueenCardigan · 18/09/2014 12:37

I still really want to try a jumpsuit.

Can't do leather either.

It's feeling a bit more autumnal today. I'm desperate to get into my autumn stuff. It'll probably be 25 degrees by school pick up though.

Dd spots have finally scabbed over and it's been so good to get out even if it was just the park and library. Aside from the school run ( dressed up of course Wink) as I feel like I've been stuck in forever 3 days so slightly over dramatic. Date night tomorrow night for a curry though.

MarshaBrady · 18/09/2014 12:43

I'd love a jumpsuit that isn't so stretchy, the asos one bagged pretty quickly at the knees.

I need ds to get chicken pox, I missed that Queenc is that what your dd has? He's getting pretty old. I need some of that over here.

Sleepwhenidie · 18/09/2014 13:24

Hmm - pretty sure midi skirts are not for me, haven't tried a jumpsuit for the same reason (although I am a little tempted by Anna's blog post - the woman is extremely stylish (as you would hope, owning lovely boutiques! Envy ). Overly sport luxe wouldn't work for me either - I just couldn't contemplate wearing tracksuit bottoms out in public (not to/fro exercise), even if hideously expensive or paired with Manolos. Baseball jackets and crop tops...noooo!

Ash Bowies were a mistake in retrospect. I did wear them quite a bit but they were never really me. Nor was the Mango padded and printed jacket I bought last year and only wore once.

I'm a bit frustrated that I haven't had the chance to wear my Paul & Joe jumper yet because its to warm too QueenC. Probably shouldn't complain, winter will last long enough I'm sure Smile. Glad DD is feeling better and you've escaped confinement btw!

Shop - are the AB's doing their job?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 18/09/2014 13:43

For me it's faux fur I can't do, think I'd feel silly. I love all the other ££ trends though, leather, lots of accessories, gold tone jewellery... Cheaper trends I can't do would be anything that cuts my short legs in two, tartan, drop hem dresses.

Dry I'm not sure how the leather skirt hunt is going but saw this new in on asos.

Lovely top Linus and I think the bardot necklines would suit you really well :)

Awks · 18/09/2014 13:50

I can't really do patterns. I just feel an overdressed idiot. Stripes and polka dots aren't really patterns though so they're ok but this winter floral stuff that's in the mags fills me with horror.

Stokey thank you for offering to go to TS for me - I'm back there on Monday so will go myself . But it was very kind of you to offer.

Georgina are you married to one of mcfly? grin

4 pairs of desperation trousers came today from Next. All of them are going back. Why is it so hard to buy ankle skimming, skinny, black wool trousers?

GeorginaWorsley · 18/09/2014 13:53

Not that I'm aware of,Awks

Would like to go shopping with their credit card thoughGrin

Sleepwhenidie · 18/09/2014 14:00

oh yes, pattern and statement necklaces are out for me too.

Blair the idea of you in fake fur makes me Smile - puts me in mind of a little girl dressing up in her mum's coat...probably because you are so young and fresh looking Smile I think you are right!

Awks · 18/09/2014 14:26

I'm sure you would remember Grin

Stokey · 18/09/2014 14:35

That jumpsuit could make me change my mind Sleep, she looks great.

I like the Audrey top Linus.

I can't do anything too high-necked or high-waisted. I'm not great with polonecks which is a pity as I really feel the cold. The same goes for very chunky necklaces.
