There's a chill in the air as we head towards Autumn. Some of us may have jetted off to sunnier spots, some of us are lounging on yachts (kind of) but we're still going strong 44 editions in. Come and join us for fun, friendly fashion and beauty chat. All welcome, any budget. :)

Have a lovely evening Dry

Now, I've been browsing the Cos website and.....I just don't get it. An A-line leather jacket?! Oversized peacoat that makes the teeny tiny model look like she's morbidly obese?! is it just me or am I just not cool enough to 'get it'?

Sleepwhenidie · 28/08/2014 21:13

Hi everyone, I am on my way home from France, I have given no thought at all to A/W shopping, unlike all of you organised lot. I am just browsing Matches for final sale bargains. Came across this and wondered about it for you for the wedding Shop (if you are still looking, I have only skim read as Internet keeps dropping out Hmm).

Please count me in for V&A next Spring and for Xmas MU Grin

shopafrolic · 28/08/2014 21:15

Welcome half way home Sleep. The lovely Blair found me a dress so I am sorted but that one is v lovely Thanks. Look forward to hearing about your time away x

Btw forgot to say defo count me in for Christmas MNV night out too!

libertychick · 28/08/2014 22:12

Welcome back Sleep, we have missed you!

One Cos is almost an acquired taste - they seem to go out of their way to make the clothes look completely crap on the models! It's one of those shops where you have to go in and try it all on. I have a few things from there, this jumper which I love, this which I wore constantly last winter and still looks really good, a couple of these silk t shirts and various other bits that I haven't pinned. They are great for natural fabrics but sizing is very hit and miss. I have my eye on a few things to try out the next time I am in Regent Street.

LinusDKD · 29/08/2014 07:26

Morning!

Impressed again by Shopbop! I sent an e-mail about my t-shirt last night and this morning I already had an e-mail back apologising for sending me a faulty item, refunding me and telling me to keep the t-shirt.

one I agree with liberty, Cos seem to go out of their way to make their clothes look as ugly as possible on their website but once you see them IRL you'll change your mind.

Granted, they still have a lot of things that will only suit tall skinny women but someone on S&B recommended sizing down and that is a good tip.

I love the yellow shirt I bought there this summer and am definitely going to have a good look there for basics this winter.

LinusDKD · 29/08/2014 07:29

Oh and welcome back sleep!

Drywhiteplease · 29/08/2014 07:52

Yey Sleep!

Agree about COS. I think Zara models often look a lot like they need to blow dry their hair and put a bit of makeup on too.Grin

libertychick · 29/08/2014 11:11

My outnet order of trousers is here. Tory Burch ones are all way too cropped - they would be shorts on Marsha Grin.

These MK ones are the best fitting but the gold zips on the ankles are too blingy. Such as shame as I really like them otherwise. So back they all go.

Grin at the Zara models in need of a blow dry!!

Drywhiteplease · 29/08/2014 12:11

Talking about cropped trousers, InStyle mag have a good piece on ankle grazers and masculine shoes. Love that look. Can't wait to wear my chunky loafers with 7/8 trousers and my camel coat again. May have a try of brogues again as I love that look on others.

libertychick · 29/08/2014 12:56

I love that look too Dry. I bought black Dune brogues in TK Maxx over the summer.

maradesbois · 29/08/2014 13:28

Afternoon,

Sleep welcome home! hope you enjoyed la belle France.

Have had a lovely morning in town on my own, bliss! Pils are lovely but 2 weeks is too much, especially without dh, conversation over dinner last night turned to Israel/Palestine, a subject on which our views differ greatly & I ended up having to say stop, change the subject before I scream!

Anyway, I digress. This morning I stocked up at the parapharmacie; bioderma, la Roche-posay, caudalie, klorane haircare and monoprix toothpaste with these zingy crystal bits in that I love.

Had a mooch round Sandro, Maje & Claudie Pierlot (sp?) & while nice I do think they are overpriced. My shopping habits are the odd fp high end accessory/bag/shoes plus other designer from sales, outlets, tk maxx and bit of zara, topshop & gap. Really find it hard to spend on the mid range fp stuff, nice as it may be. Didn't end up getting anything from matches end of sale, visa bill is horrendous enough this month and still need to find a gold evening bag to go with my dvf dress.

libertychick · 29/08/2014 16:04

More shopping!! Just ordered sleeveless MIH silk shirt and Z&V linen top. Sleep I think you might have that top or one like it?

Mara it has been ages since I got anything from Zara or Topshop - in fact I hardly ever look there unless something is linked on S&B or in a blog. Gap I go to a lot and Cos is now my default first option for basics. I also like H&M, lots of rubbish at times but I have several H&M items on the go (particularly skirts for some reason). I've also stopped going to TKMaxx and I used to have a mild addiction to it! I have replaced TKMaxx with the Outnet!

Drywhiteplease · 29/08/2014 16:18

Love the sleeveless top Lib v useful

MarshaBrady · 29/08/2014 16:32

Gulp Liberty's links lead me somewhere to something I had seen ages ago and thought amazing, but it I saved £500+ on it.

Um

Not sure it's right either as very bright. Just need to try it on!

LinusDKD · 29/08/2014 16:34

I ordered some basic ls tees on Matches (American Vintage) and The Outnet (Splendid), nothing special but I need some for winter as my old ones are all too big now.

I also like the brogue look but I don't think I can pull it off. Have never tried though.

libertychick · 29/08/2014 16:50

Marsha WHAT did you buy? Link, link, link....

Drywhiteplease · 29/08/2014 17:00

I'm wondering what you've bought MarshaHmm
linus brogues always look wrong on me don't do masculine but may keep trying as it's such a nice look.
I'm thinking, instead of a dress I have a lot and don't really need another although all of the lovely links are tempting me that perhaps I should get a leather skirt as I have a lot of nice tops and fancy something a bit edgier this time. Am I bonkers?

Today's outfit pouring, takeaway with friends tonight, prosecco soon
Jimmies
mint cotton sweater
stone biker
Stone suede heeled shoe boot
Scarf...mint and stone

MarshaBrady · 29/08/2014 17:04

This J W Anderson cashmere sweater.

There was one left in my size. It was extra 30% off so under £200 from £700.

I saw it in Matches last season and swooned at the feel of it.

So I didn't stand a chance really!

But I am gulp. And also it might be too stripey bright for me.

Love your links btw. Going back to check out the thread now I've calmed down a bit.

LinusDKD · 29/08/2014 17:06

splendid. I saw this on NaP a while back but balked at the price. Happy it went onto the Outnet!

These are my links, where are yours marsha

dry I think I can do 'boyish' (my Jimmies with a baseball tee) but I can't do masculine. Maybe because I'm so short?

And yes to a leather skirt! I wanted one last winter but didn't get one in the end as the DC are still so small. I did get a lace overlay skirt at J Crew and a brocade skirt at Sportmax and I love wearing them with a simple turtleneck tee and opaques.

MarshaBrady · 29/08/2014 17:07

Also the Equipment check jumper arrived and I love it.

MarshaBrady · 29/08/2014 17:08

Nice Linus!

I need to divert from jumpers. No more!

LinusDKD · 29/08/2014 17:08

X-post marsha I like that sweater, it is so You!

LinusDKD · 29/08/2014 17:11

LOVE that Equipment jumper marsha. Very tempted but crew necks make me look boxy.

shopafrolic · 29/08/2014 17:20

Wowsers Marsha you're on a roll! Loving all the links this afternoon and YY to Dry in leather.
ILs due to arrive with DS' cousin any minute so expect either no posts, or stressed ones this weekend Grin (or drunk stressed ones!)
Photo shoot went well this morning - DS was surprisingly compliant and actually a right little poser. It was good fun - races on bikes, welly boots and splashing in puddles, and Thomas The Tank got his own photo shoot too - will be good I hope.
I wore my I&I red stripe top, with Goldsign Lures and Marant boots (v casual). No bare feet or white t-shirts in sight One Grin
I too am a brogue lover but never had the balls to wear the one pair I owned so I won't try again. Just not in my comfort zone.
