Well now we know how to tempt you out of lurk mode Secretsquirrel poor spelling all the way!! Mine has been a shocker lately due to new phone. Welcome back and happy to oblige with links. I may need a no-spend August to recover from the recent splurging though.

Do get the red skirt out Dry - it's a cheerful look!

libertychick · 24/07/2014 22:41

Thanks Blair Smile

libertychick · 24/07/2014 23:37

Stokey do you have a code for Allium B? The website says 15% off first orders when you sign up for mailing list - have done this but they haven't sent me a code Confused

SoyYo · 25/07/2014 09:08

Morning All!
liberty looking good! I know what you mean about WC, I also end up returning lots so we will see what that skirt looks like in real life, if it is not floaty, cool, flattering silkiness back it will go.

secret quite right! English is my second language (Spanish is mother tongue) so am I forgiven? Sad I read all those classics when little but translated (also other wonderful authors which I doubt were ever translated into English and the reason I do not mention here)

shop I can feel your excitement. Have a wonderful wonderful time!

Stokey · 25/07/2014 09:10

Hi Liberty , I ordered mine through Atterley Road so no code I'm afraid. Try emailing them?

I loved What Katy Did too and Little House on the Prairie.

The Baujken dress is lovely Blair

I got the saludos yesterday and they're a bit small. Do they stretch Shop? Think they'd be OK if I wore them in old school espadrille fashion with the heels trampled down.I wonder if it is sizing,US 7 being smaller than Uk 5.

May just have to follow the crowd with WIT lace ones.

annielewis · 25/07/2014 09:13

Morning all - thanks for the links to WIT - had somehow managed to miss her blog. She is super perfect, not sure I'll have much to relate to there, but nice to aspire to I guess even thought will never have the discipline to be that together

Am popping to the local shops today on the pretence of buying pressies for nieces and nephews birthdays, are there any sales still on or have they all finished? Am expecting it to just be the dregs left now.

I've read all the 50 shades, my 88yr old Granny bought the first one for me when I was pregnant and overdue, she thought it was a nice love story Grin Also loved HP but mostly because it got so many children into reading proper books again! Never bothered with Twilight (also can't stand Kristen whatsername) LOVE Anne of Green Gables, most people my age don't even like all that older stuff though so am pleased to find I am amongst fellow Anne friends here!!

Have a lovely Friday everyone

SoyYo · 25/07/2014 09:37

Annie enjoy your bargain hunting, fingers crossed you will find perfect pressies.
LOVE the fact your 88 year old Gran bought you 50 shades!! hahaha and how lucky you are to still have her around.

Also lovely to know that you and Blair enjoy Anne, Katy, et all, I'm probably old enough to be your mother (eek!), my older DS is nearly 22 and I didn't start that young. I couldn't get my boys into the girly books when they were little but classics such as "Uncle Sam's cabin", and Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn tales were lovingly read to them at bedtime...and I discovered C S Lewis with them (before the films came out), on DH's recommendation as he read all his books when young. Hope it all sticks in their memories. And they do love reading which is a major achievement with boys and all the online/gaming distractions.

Stokey never read "Little House..." maybe I should download on my kindle and have a nostalgic read on my next work trip (and will keep me away from airport shopping!) That's a plan...

MarshaBrady · 25/07/2014 09:39

Morning everyone.

The Rag&Bone t and Paige skinnies have turned up from Matches. I haven't had time to do anything other than a very fast try on, will do it properly later on, but so far I think they are fab.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 25/07/2014 10:11

Nice one Marsha

SoyYo your list of boyish books reminded me that I loved Swallows and Amazons too. Must reread it sometime :) I hope my future children will want to read all these too (esp all the boarding school stories) but worry that they will only want ipads!

shopafrolic · 25/07/2014 12:43

Stokey I had to size up in Soludos - they do come up small.
Can any of you tell me whether I can take snacks on board Ryan Air for DS? First time flying with him. I know I can't take liquids so was going to carry on an empty water bottle and fill at the other end but what about food?

OP posts:
QueenCardigan · 25/07/2014 12:54

shop you can buy food once you've gone through security and take it on board.

I used to love Enid blyton books but I started reading some to dd but goodness, they are dull nowadays. Ronald Dahl is still much loved though as is the hungry caterpillar with little dd!

I saw a stylish woman earlier in her 60/70s wearing white cropped trousers, grey tee and a lovely grey sparkly cardi. She walked past my car whilst I was in a traffic jam so I shouted out at her that I love her cardi.

I'm in the usual of navy vest and denim shorts. Might don my bikin later for the paddling pool.

libertychick · 25/07/2014 13:26

shop you can take snacks through security.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 25/07/2014 14:12

We've got a big rain storm here! I collected my Jaeger top from waitrose just in time. Will try later.

QueenC Grin love the fact you just shouted it out from your car. I admired the bag of a similar age woman in waitrose but I didn't tell her, should have done. Was this Prada hobo, seems they don't make it anymore sadly. I love hobos.

I hope your DS likes flying for the first time shop :)

SoyYo · 25/07/2014 14:27

Blair I like Hobo styles too.

QueenC enjoy the sun this afternoon. Yes on the (relatively speaking) contemporary children's authors Dahl and Morpugo are great.
Enid Blyton not so great...I guess the sign of a great writer is whether they can trascend their own lifetime.
I remember great hilarity at bedtime when reading The Twits. Happy days!

SoyYo · 25/07/2014 14:34

Shop Ryanair are truly awful, so I hope they don't make you queue for ages with your DS. You can take food onboard, and mineral water just buy after security. I don't want to alarm you but forewarned is forearmed, and hope they have the decency to allow you to board first with a young child on tow. Just remember to count to 10 and breathe deeply.

I used them a few weeks ago as I travel to Frankfurt so often just because Stansted is my closest airport and fancied just driving myself there rather than doing the usual train journey to City or Heathrow, and the company car was going to pick me up at FF Hahn (no other company flies from Stansted to Frankfurt). Even with all those sweetners I can honestly say Never Again!

libertychick · 25/07/2014 14:49

SoyYo you are giving me flashbacks to flying to Ireland with DD on my own when she was about 9 months old. No help at all from the staff. Abs they charged £20 each way for her to sit on my lap. I detest them.

libertychick · 25/07/2014 14:50

And not abs... Ffs!

SoyYo · 25/07/2014 15:03

liberty Me Too!!!! Angry
Let's hope Shop has a painless experience eh.

shopafrolic · 25/07/2014 15:55

Fingers crossed

It will be fine shop. Ignore me! You have DH with you and DS is older. Our last flight with DD was great. Just have the iPad fully charged for the flight and the airport etc will be an adventure. lots of snacks and a change of clothes

Wearing my red Allium B dress today. DH saw it and asked why it has taken me so long to wear it as he thinks it looks great.

libertychick · 25/07/2014 17:01

Oh and get him to chew or suck something for take off and landing. DD had earpain especially on landing.

Drywhiteplease · 25/07/2014 17:30

shop it will be fine. Was about to say the sucking thing too. Colouring, plane spotting, etc =little boy heaven. He'll go nuts if he catches a glimpse of the captain!so would I ho ho!

Children's literature .... I wasn't allowed to read Enid Blyton or watch ITV, ESP NOT TizWaz Sad
Morpurgo is incredible....heard him speaking last year, a very charismatic man who knows what children want to read.
I Adore Dick KIng Smith (The Guard Dog is my all time fav) too.

shopafrolic · 25/07/2014 19:51

Thanks everyone - totally forgot about change of clothes, iPad and sweets so good thing I mentioned it. DS all packed. I'll pack tomorrow and then we're off early Sunday. Yippeeeeee. :)

Evening folks!

Yes Shop change of clothes and little things like colouring in books and pencils are good.

Ha QueenC you do have the right name, queen of the cardigans

shopafrolic · 25/07/2014 20:22

So if I take an empty bottle for DS I can fill it with water once I get through security right? and a few rice cakes and bread sticks in pots would be fine? Sorry for the beginners questions but I haven't flown since my honeymoon and never with kids.....
