fedup I also have very curly long hair, and all the advice liberty gave is spot on.
But if you are in a hurry and have a diffuser hairdryer handy then that will speed up the whole drying process, if you do it upside down you will get lovely root volume too!

MarshaBrady · 23/07/2014 19:55

SoyYo hello! yes I agree, I have a thing about airports and short haul. The thought of avoiding all that is tempting. Norfolk sounds lovely.

Fedup your outfit sounds nice, have fun tonight.

SoyYo · 23/07/2014 20:20

Waving back to *Marsha" yes I really recommend the north Norfolk coast, wide beaches, lovely places to visit, lots of hidden gems and not too crowded. And you can always take off for a day at the Broads, just hire a little boat and explore.
Norwich is also a lovely medioeval city, lots to see (and shop!) there.

Love the lacy espadrilles btw, and that blog!
You tempted me for mo... But... must stop, I don't know how you manage but my (generous) wardrobes are bulging and so I am being very strict with myself and started the painfully slow decluttering process lately. Two bin bags ready for charity, not sure how many more yet..

Plus I want a woodburner before autumn sets in, need to get the man in to do it so must keep some cash back for that.

OneLittleLady · 23/07/2014 20:23

Uggggh, I am so HOT I just can't seem to cool down. I've got an ice pack on the back of my neck atm and let's not mention the sweating, oh god the sweating. I am thoroughly miserable with it all

SoyYo · 23/07/2014 20:26

I think not being at Heahtrow duty free shops so often will also help... I tend to "indulge" there far too often, in my head to make up for airport and travelling hardship ...Wink

SoyYo · 23/07/2014 20:28

Cold Shower One, lots of fresh cologne and afterwards a long chilled sundowner...

BrandyAlexander · 23/07/2014 20:53

Hello! Much more human nowGrin I also discovered today that hangover + 9.30am dental appointment = bad idea. I went to the gym at lunchtime to sweat it out, drank lots of water and felt better.

Yesterday, I wore this Austin reed dress, with Black wedges from Ravel that are over 10 years old but still look newShock, and accessorised with this Swarovski bangle, this diamond and aquamarine bag and this Aspinal leopard bag. When I turned up at the bar, dh's tongue rolled out and he told me I looked so hot he was going to have trouble keeping his hands to himself.Grin Mind, it was the first time I had seen him on a weekday evening in about 2 weeks!Hmm

SoyYo · 23/07/2014 20:57

novice beautiful!! not surprised your DH was wowed! Love the ring and bag, and the dress! I am sooo jealous could never carry off such a high elegant neckline...

BrandyAlexander · 23/07/2014 21:01

Thanks SoYo! To be honest, pre MNV, I would never have tried it. Seeing lots of beautiful things here has encouraged me try new things.

Glad the travelling has eased off. It's grim isn't it? I have been on short hauls for the last 3 months which has been great.

libertychick · 23/07/2014 21:13

Good stuff Novice Smile Great dress and fantastic accessories as always.

Nice to have you back SoyYo. Hope things are easing up a bit for you. I always feel I deserve a treat in airports too.

This Me & Em maxi arrived today - wow so flattering! I have it on now Smile. I had also ordered safari dress and belted sundress but they are only just ok so have decided to return them (polishes halo)

SoyYo · 23/07/2014 21:16

Yep the constant toing and froing has done me in.
I was actually not physically but mentally "fried" last weekend, so really looking fw to not having to pack for a few weeks!
I agree everyone posts such fabulousness it's an antidote if you are in a fashion rut, which I often am...but I fear the fat matron effect with 34FF/G's to disguise...

maradesbois · 23/07/2014 21:28

marsha yes, it's all about the photography with these glossy professional blogs. WIT is pretty much the only one of those who I look at regularly though as she still comes across as a (stylised) real person without a whole team behind her although am sure there is.

SoyYo hello there. Your holiday home sounds amazing. Also great to have somewhere to escape the city that isn't too far away. I love the UK when we get summers like this, problem is the unpredictability, I am a planner!

novice fab outfit. I met an old friend for drinks in London the other day and realised how alike she and you are, both in polished boardroom look and bling. She was wearing a gold Cartier snake bangle and diamond drop earrings that looked to be several carats and still managed to avoid looking ott, no mean feat. Not sure her dh is as appreciative as mrnovice though!

Topazandpearl · 23/07/2014 21:49

Hi SoyYo, glad things are calming down and welcome back.

Novice lovely outfit.

Coincidence Fedup! I followed Liberty's advice today too and am very pleased with it so far. I have been reading this curly hair website as well for inspiration. I need a new hair dryer with a large diffuser. Any recommendations anyone?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 23/07/2014 21:55

Waves to SoyYo :) welcome back, sounds like a nice relaxing August is in order. I am loving my Pippa too, especially the shoulder strap which I think only the mini size has.

Great outfit novice, I really like hearing about your workwear (and the bling of course!), though my office is more casual it's always good to have inspiration. Love the bag.

liberty beautiful necklace, well done your DH. Shame about the Maxmara dress though.

shop hoping no news is good news re shopdog? :)

QueenCardigan · 23/07/2014 22:17

My dc late nights are playing havoc with my mumsnet time Grin. Not sure I can cope with them being up so late for the next 6 weeks!

Welcome back soy. I like Norfolk and dh nearly applied for a job there but we decided it was just too far from everyone we know. He also can't stand how flat it is.

novice I love your husbands comments!

marsha you can't beat a holiday in this country if the weather is good. But because it so often isn't you often need to pack for all weathers. Might be tricky if going by train.

Our gardener today saw me in my swimming costume (I was in the paddling pool with dc) and he couldn't believe that I'm 40 Smile

shopafrolic · 23/07/2014 22:19

Welcome back SoYo my DH is a Norwich boy so we visit the North Norfolk Coast frequently and our first weekend away together was in Blakeney. Just lovely.
Blair ShopDog is improving thanks. Still not back up to her fighting weight but she's eating more and a lot happier in herself so we should be good to go on hols thank goodness.
Lib I love my moss green maxi but it can turn me into a sweaty mess so I haven't worn it on the hottest days. Am v tempted by the price on the black...
Such horrible final news about Peaches G :(

Desperately trying to keep up with thread, haven't had a chance to read back through yet, just caught sight of a few links, too tempting but going to check them out anyway.

It's sooo hot! I love it but also find the uk is crap at doing any sort of extremes of weather, no where is properly air conditioned, rubbish outside seating options, etcetera. Can't think what to wear at the moment either, making me want to mass order from somewhere like asos....

What are you all wearing - especially SAHM's?

annielewis · 23/07/2014 22:40

Forgot to say thanks for the lovely comments about the wedding pic/shoes??

QueenCardigan · 23/07/2014 22:51

annie I'm living in shorts (denim or gap navy boyfriends) with vests or blouse. Saltwaters or havianas on my feet. Not v imaginitave I'm afraid but I'm too hot to care Grin.

Drywhiteplease · 23/07/2014 22:54

Evening all and what a lovely evening it is. I have just come inside from outside where it feels like Greece here up north why did we book a holiday?. Have been told that Gavi is the new Pinot, and I can tell you that it tastes the same tried a lot to make sure! ....can't beat a good champ IMO still.

mara I love everything on that WIT page you posted. Gorgeous.

Marsha what is it I don't like? Sand or espadrilles? Confused I don't mind either although I can't stand sand/sun cream combo Grin

Tried new berry Pimmsthis afternoon .....not convinced.

Isn't it great wearing a little sun dress and Gigis outside in England and being hot? Love it Smile

Amber I'm worried about you and sending you love.

maradesbois · 23/07/2014 23:37

Dry I love Gavi di Gavi too, aromatic and reminds me of holidays. Haven't tried the berry pimms & not tempted but really like the winter one with hot apple juice as an alternative to mulled wine can't believe am talking about mulled wine in this weather

Annie Am wearing maxi dresses and linen shorts with vest tees mostly, havianas at home otherwise gigis.

MarshaBrady · 24/07/2014 06:51

Dry I retract! Grin not you, got it wrong. Faint recollection of someone not keen on wit. Yes agree on sand and suncream.

Mara yes it's like a little cake, all looks sweet and perfect - WIT that is.

Left home early this morning so I can have an espresso in sunshine before meeting. Do love early summer mornings.

QueenCardigan · 24/07/2014 07:59

I love looking at WIT but wish she wasn't so bloody perfect all the time (and she's totally out of touch with reality re what's affordable). Even her dd looks like a walking ad. Can't wait till she wants to choose her own stuff and insists on a peppa pig tee. I loved ambers comment ages ago that she wishes WIT would do a post saying here's me in sweat pants and Greta's having fish fingers!

Drywhiteplease · 24/07/2014 08:28

Ahhhh WIT...I agree QueenC, she's stunning, I actually love her clothes, but a bit too much Greta stuff....bet she does get vomit on her top occasionally Grin

Today is a Gap bf chino shorts day. Navy. Old halter neck linen top that I love in white with turquoise and silver embroidery. Out all day for a picnic. Already covered in sun cream. Will wear my hat.

Marsha will join you for a coffee outside Smile

Fedupnagging · 24/07/2014 08:39

Grin Queen I agree with you on WIT. In fact, I don't tend to read too many blogs where everything is perfect/aspirational all the time as I end up a bit depressed knowing I will never ever achieve perfection.

Annie around the house I tend to wear a couple of beach dresses I bought in Turkey years ago with bare feet or havs. Really cool and comfortable. To go out, linen dresses or trousers and sandals.

Shop really pleased your dog is on the mend so you can go away and not worry.

Liberty love the me & em maxi. What is the sizing like? They have 10/12 still in stock but am a definite 12 so wonder if it will be a squeeze?
