Ewa michalak bra sizing

Am about to order a bra, but can't remember if I order my usual size, or one cupsize up. It is the S style I am looking at, and I am a 28G/GG or 30FF/G. Anyone roughly my size ordered that style?

I love the Ewa but since I washed it its a bit small- I think the GG would be perfect- so I haven't been able to wear it to see how comfortable it is. My size does vary a little bit through the month, as you mentioned, and also my weight goes up and down, so the 30G will fit at some point, just not right now! I have ordered this www.ewa-michalak.pl/product-eng-577-SM-Cukiereczek.html today as I am returning the 28H Marcie to figleaves, and this style was in stock at EM so should hopefully reach me fairly quickly, I ordered the 30GG. If it is too big I can then change it for the G easily. (Are exchanges fairly simple with EM?)
A full cup style should have more central straps shouldn't it? but I can't seem to find one that looks right for me. I tried this www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/sensational-sets/salsa-bra/charcoal/fa103cha/?brand=fantasie&level=1 It looked as though it would be great, but it pulled my breasts sideways and was really East/West on me. Not right at all. I need a forward facing cup. I might order the red S style I have in the GG cup too, so that I have the option of either size, if the SM cukiereczek fits well in the GG.
I have had the 28GG Marcie on all day now and it is ok. Much tighter band than I am used to, I don't know why it feels snug, as I can get two fists under it, (am probably more like 26.5" than 27", and was 25.5" when thinner). I think I am just used to a 30 band and a loose fit. The snugger band does feel more supportive, but I am more aware of it iyswim.

I think being more aware of the band is totally normal when downsizing - it's quite common for folk to move down in states if they've been wearing the wrong band because it's such a big difference.

Fantasie and Freya generally both have a more east-west shape than cleo and ewa michalak. It's the main reason I don't wear them much as they almost force my boobs apart and I feel really conscious of the "hollow" between them under clothes. Full cups can be like that in general, but have you tried any of the Bravissimo branded ones? They have some lovely ones like pretty as a pin up which might be worth a shot.

hellymelly · 03/08/2014 17:58

Haven't tried a Bravissimo full cup, only the plunge styles, the plunges I've tried are all too small in a 28GG. I am waiting for one to be exchanged for a 28H, but I am not convinced it will fit, going by the GG, as they seem to pull me sideways a bit. If the one I'm waiting for (this one www.bravissimo.com/products/sale/lingerie/sensational-sets/sweet-medley-bra/apple/ln176app/?sale=true&level=2 )is no good then I will exchange it for the pretty as a pin up bra. I am not sure that the side panel bit will work on me, it never seems to in other bras, but it is definitely worth a try. Ideally I would like a bog standard bra for everyday wear the same simple sort of shape as the Fantasie one above, but that actually fits me. There are a few full cup styles on Comexim I noticed, so when I establish my size with them, maybe I should try one of those. Have you tried any full cups that work for you?

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 03/08/2014 19:43

Do you know, I actually don't think I own a single full cup. I probably have at least 40 bras!

Just had a quick look, and remembered that I have read quite good things about the Panache Andorra which comes in a full cup. Could be worth a try too since Cleo are close to working...The main problem people have with Panache is that their wires can be quite tall and a bit armpit stabbing but that's not normally a problem on taller people. There's also the new BM style by Ewa which isn't a "full" cup, but is a lot fuller if you get my drift! I have just got the floral one.

hellymelly · 03/08/2014 22:21

Even though I am tallish I have a real problem with Panache wires normally. I might try the Andorra though. (I am in a "try anything" frame of mind!) I bought a similar style to the Andorra (the Elsa) on ebay but in a 30ff which doesn't fit. Pre Freya most bras were full cup. I quite liked them for those days when you wanted to be extra comfortable and not have anything pushed about too much, like pre-menstrually etc. They also gave a good natural shape, or they used to when I could find one that fitted. Or a pretty retro 40s shape, which I also like as I wear a lot of vintage. Somehow balconettes became the default setting and the straps have got wider and wider. I like the cute shape of a balconette, but I would sometimes like the natural comfort of a full cup. I have the reissued Gossard glossy bra, but the wires were never very comfortable on the old style, and the new style hasn't got the extra support that the bigger cups had in the original. Full cups are also good for things like visiting the osteopath, when I don't really want my breasts to be too out there, or for pilates. (I hate the squashing feel of sports bras). I haven't had a true full cup for years, just bras like the Freya Arabella which was quite covering even though it was flimsy and slightly plunged. I vaguely remember that at one point I had over 50 bras and 90 pairs of knickers! Only a tiny percentage of which ever got worn.

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/08/2014 22:28

The BM might work actually. It's much softer, not moulded just lovely soft fabrics. It's sort of balcony-ish but the top section is incredibly soft and flexible stretch lace. I can tell that it will be a great time of the month bra when everything gets a bit bigger!

I had the Arabella - heck I think I might still have it! It was fabulous, but very tall for a balcony/plunge style. A lot of freya are like that, almost a V neck!

Sometimes a try anything approach is needed as boobs are just so darned random!

hellymelly · 03/08/2014 22:28

Have just looked and love the BM floral, I don't know why I haven't really noticed that before. Has your arrived? If so how is the fit? I get confused by the letters for the styles on EM, so any pointers gratefully received!

OP posts:
hellymelly · 03/08/2014 22:30

I wore the Arabella all through breast feeding, as the low front made it easy to pull aside. Lovely colours too.

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/08/2014 22:39

I got mine last week so I've only worn it once. It's very nice, runs slightly bigger in the cup than my S styles I think, but not by much.

If it would help for comparison I could take some photos tomorrow so you can compare how Lily, Marcie, S, SM, BM and PL look on me?

hellymelly · 03/08/2014 22:51

Yes, that would be great- you sent me some pics before and it was helpful. Did make me realise my bra size was defintely wrong. I was thinking I should send you one of the Marcie on me to get your opinion on fit. I bet all your friends want to go bra shopping with you, do you ever get any peace?
p.s have you read Cold comfort farm? Friend bought it for me years ago as she said one the characters was just like me. Said character is always trotting off to strange parts of London in search of new bras. Its a very funny book.

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 03/08/2014 23:05

I'll do that for you tomorrow - I'm trying to think if I have anything else that might be useful for you to see...I'll have a look! Happy to have a look at a Marcie picture if it would be useful - not sure if you can PM pics but if not send me a message and I'll give you an email address.

Friends to go shopping with - ha I wish Sad. I have aspergers/ASD (only recently diagnosed), so I don't make or keep friends very easily.

Must read cold comfort farm!

SorrelForbes · 03/08/2014 23:16

Stats: I'm very choosy when it comes to making new friends and I can honestly say that I'd have no hesitation in going bra shopping and drinking with you Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/08/2014 23:20

Grin thanks Sorrel, that actually means a lot!

Jesus, can you imagine the carnage with the pair of us in the same bra shop...the poor fitters would be needing a drink after that!

hellymelly · 04/08/2014 11:06

Oh SC! I would love to go bra shopping with you! We should have a bra woes meet up some time. I am in Pembrokeshire if any of you ever come here for holidays?

OP posts:
hellymelly · 04/08/2014 11:12

EM have sent the bra I ordered in a 30GG, so that should be here pretty soon I hope. I think I will order the BM floral too as I really like the look and sound of it. As it is slightly more generous in the cup then the 30G should be fine I imagine.

OP posts:
goodasitgets · 04/08/2014 12:26

I have the BM floral. Found it tight in the band but generous in the cup

goodasitgets · 04/08/2014 12:29

Forgot to add, the BM floral reminds me of the panache jasmine, except without the stabby gore and too high under arm bits Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/08/2014 12:34

It is on the snug side in the band -I think Helly has a snug s style too so I'd guess it will be similar. I do wish ewa was a bit more consistent! Mind you I'm still waiting to hear if they will replace my 30f-ish masquerading as a 30hh

hellymelly · 04/08/2014 12:36

Do you think it is generous enough to need to size down?

OP posts:
hellymelly · 04/08/2014 12:43

My S style is more like a 28 in the band. Don't know if it will stretch a lot over time. The fabric of the band is soft so maybe they tried to allow for that by making it smaller. I will order the BM floral as soon as I am clear what cup size I need, when the SM style arrives in the GG, and I've been able to compare it. Is it very complicated to exchange for a size smaller, or are they ok about it?

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 04/08/2014 12:43

I'll take measurements for you when I get home and you can compare the stretched and unstretched band lengths to be sure if you want.

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/08/2014 12:44

I didn't size down.

hellymelly · 04/08/2014 13:01

I think the band will be fine, and if the cup is just on the generous side then it might be perfect as I seem to be falling between cup sizes at the moment. I like the floral print, colours look lovely.

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 05/08/2014 17:27

My EM CH Koralik purchased from Bratabase arrived today. I took a punt on it even though it's a 32G as one of my other CH bras is a 32G and fits like a 30GG. It's lovely, a fantastic fit. The band is a smidgeon bigger than a 30 but nothing to worry about. They really are great bras.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/08/2014 17:37

That's very pretty sorrel!
