Twice....

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 27/05/2014 17:43

I am back from my mother's. Two days of sitting in a fug of cigarette smoke, with the shopping channels on telly in the sitting room and radio two blasting out in the kitchen. She was not too bad.

MrsS - is she feeling alright Wink

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 27/05/2014 18:18

I think she is possibly worrying about her own mortality. She told me that her brother "might only have another five years." He is 83 already...

Well the MRI was inconclusive:
Yes the nerve is pinched but cause not obvious. L4 disc is wonky but not completely herniated. No cyst or blockage visible .
So pain meds to be continued. Appt with gp to discuss long term pain management on Thursday.Confused
Sad I am dead on my feet. Slurring words too according to dh. Trying not to cry..

Lalsy how about a weekend in NI?
We can incorporate nice dinner( I will make myself well) and some beautiful unspoiled countryside..
not joking it's actually nice except for the undecided weatherGrin

MI Bon voyage.! Hoping the trip oop north goes without incident.

Mrs S you would have saintly wings if it were appropriate Grin
BTM sounds heavenly

motherinferior · 27/05/2014 19:35

Oh Crem darling, how infuriating.

Blackduck · 27/05/2014 19:42

Cremona :( sorry to hear....

I should be at choir but funny tummy and feeling a bit 'off' so slumped in bed with a cuppa....

NearTheWindymill · 27/05/2014 19:50

Crem I've nothing to add - just wish it was better news with a resolution. Just finished work - in Sainsbury's car park in Putney. Not one person said, thanks so much for coming in to sort that lot out when you are on hols. Pissed off to be frank.

Blackduck · 27/05/2014 20:04

Windy know the feeling! I am dealing with an ungrateful bunch of so and so's at the moment. I am either a. Invisible b. The whipping boy...

bigTillyMint · 27/05/2014 20:07

Oh CremoSad BFF has a bit of sciatica and had a v bad twinge as we were walking into the spa place. She said the hot bed felt heavenly on it. Could a chiropractor or other do anything at all?

herbaceous · 27/05/2014 20:08

Have spent today cooped up with bored four-year-old. Only solution - invite another bored four-year-old. Carnage was in fact minimal.

Tomorrow we're off to a 'farm' attraction in Essex that gets 'mixed' reviews...

Total bummer about the nerve sitch, Cremo. I'd been hoping for something conclusive.

Windy - I probably missed it, but what do you in Sainsbury's car parks?

cremolafoam · 27/05/2014 20:12

I am seeing gp on Thursday to discuss A Plan.

I am putting some thoConfusedght into
A chiropractor
B osteopath
C acupuncture

I know very little about these things , but have had so many people mention success in the last few weeks when they've seen me limping about. Even the paramedic mentioned a chiro he went to ....

Bd hope your tummy feels better soon
Windy ungrateful ba***sGrin

ps DS conceived on DH's 40th b'day trip to barca. TMI?

NearTheWindymill · 27/05/2014 20:43

Thanks Herbs. I was thinking of Beachy when I said where I was. I like it in Pedant's corner thought Smile. I had finished work and driven to Sainsbury's, parked in the car park, and took the opportunity to check my phone. Better?

When my back's been horrific Cremo have a couple of bulgy disks/c(s) sorry Herbs. I've had the soundest advice from physiotherapists and the best instructions delivered to GPs via them too. I once let one stick 14 needles in my back, upper bottom and thigh because I didn't think I had anything to lose. I don't know if it was the massage, the exercises, the manipulation, the drugs or the acupuncture but it did seem to make a difference. Nothing has ever been that bad again. The first sign of a twinge I have anti-inflammatories, heat pads, exercises, the physio's number and wrap myself in cotton wool for a few days. Not sure if I've ever been in as much pain as you though - pain enough that I can't let DH sleep in the bed because it hurts too much when he moves; let alone when I move.

NUFC69 · 27/05/2014 21:09

Sorry it's unresolved, Crem. DH has had acupuncture several times when he has a bad shoulder. Two different practitioners: GP at the practice, and occupational nurse when he was working. Two different approaches as to where the needles went, but only one (successful) outcome. See what your GP says.

I have been watching the Giro on Sky: the snow on the ground as they have gone over the mountains had to be seen to be believed - amazingly dangerous descents. One of DH's fellow cyclists (a retired female GP) is going to do part of one of the stages of the Tour - I don't think I would be doing it!

beachyhead · 27/05/2014 21:11

Frankly Windy, if you can get down into that car park in sainsburys, you deserve a medal!

beachyhead · 27/05/2014 21:15

Sorry posted too soon.

Crem, that is such a pain. If you go to all the trouble of having an MRI, the least it could do is show a tangible, fixable problem. I'm firmly in the osteopath camp, whereas my sister believes more in her chiropractor. I think it's a matter of choice and the practitioner you find. I've also had acupuncture and found that really helpful.

Last night in Barcelona here. Chilling out in the hotel room and off to the Picasso museum tomorrow.

herbaceous · 27/05/2014 21:19

Sorry windy - I wasn't meaning to be a pedantic dick! I really did read it as you working in the car park at sainsburys. Wasn't thinking...

bigTillyMint · 27/05/2014 21:22

Weather was quite nice in Mancs! Well, we had a warm sunny day yesterday for our walk/pub garden and it didn't rain today or Sunday IIRC.

cremolafoam · 27/05/2014 21:36

Thanks lovely Addle - Smile

< falls back into fuggy sleep>

NearTheWindymill · 27/05/2014 22:00

It's luffly down there at 8pm Beachy. There's always space nowadays - since they opened Waitrose Smile.

Herbs the way I feel tonight I'd apply to work in the car park if luminous yellow were my colour Grin.

Beachy I'm surprised it wasn't flooded to waist height tonight. This is the worst weather at Whitsun for years. I have just put the heating on and googled the Amalfi Coast Sad
