Ok, have taken your advice. In La Flauta as we speak.... Slight mistake in starter ordering, I got peas, potato and a cold egg, ds got squid paella...

Still he's ordered rabbit for his main - that's brave for a 13 yo animal lover Smile

Blackduck · 26/05/2014 15:16

We had an amazing meal there (loads of shared tapas) and stupidly cheap...... :-)
Enjoy!

cremolafoam · 26/05/2014 16:06

Have the chickpea thing
And aubergine and lamb chops
And the prawn and squid skewer
And the straw chips
Padrones
And the flan with choc sauceGrinGrinGrin

cremolafoam · 26/05/2014 16:11

sorry Beachy prob too late

beachyhead · 26/05/2014 16:21

We had a great meal, three of us for €39, which appeared to include a bottle of rose! Pity the dc can't enjoy!

Fantastic. May go back tomorrow....

cremolafoam · 26/05/2014 16:33

Yay Beachy! It's a bit hectic but great food and a bargain!

If it starts to rain again there's a lovely art house cinemaGrin

beachyhead · 26/05/2014 17:56

Finally caught up on thread properly. Apologies. Auriga, congrats to your dd for her singing and sorry to hear about your ddis news and how it has upset your dmum. I hope it settles down.

Rosebag, sounds like you are near my home right now! Strange as I lived in Putney for over 12 years, before going back to my SE London birthplace and then down to the south coast....

Herbs, how's the dh's bruising? Grin Arnica at the very least, I feel.

bigTillyMint · 26/05/2014 18:29

I think we might have gone to La Flauta - would it have been there 10 years ago? Quite palatial but cheap as chips? I have to admit we did a bit of late night drinking when we were in Barca (first proper hol without DC!) and its all a bit of a blurBlush

Had a lovely day here - ridiculously cheap garden centre, lunch al fresco, long walk over a million stiles and through many muddy fields with a fab pub (sunny beer garden with live music) and the girls asked to come tooShock The boys spemt the afternoon setting up the huge paddling pool and water slide

bigTillyMint · 26/05/2014 18:34

Sorry to hear about your DM Auriga. You are a saint, but you do deserve the odd break - granny-sitter masquerading as a dog-sitter seems like a great plan.

CV glad to hear you had a good time in London.

Herbs how's your DP?

bigTillyMint · 26/05/2014 18:36

Beachy, are you doing all the Gaudi? Love it so much - I need to gp backEnvy

CointreauVersial · 26/05/2014 18:47

Beachy - I was going to suggest you do a guided bike tour in Barca (which DH and I loved), but judging by your DH's form with bikes, maybe not....Grin

bigTillyMint · 26/05/2014 18:53

Beachy, are you in a hotel with shutters on the windows? It was so dark in our room that DH and I slept till lunchtime - unheard of at home with 3 and 4 year olds (as was staying out till 2am!)

beachyhead · 26/05/2014 19:09

Doing all the Gaudi, Casa Battlo today and Park Guell tomorrow. It's currently thunderstorming again, so plans for a wander along the Ramblas are thwarted at the moment.

Dh not here, as he is having a 'lovely' time with dd2 at home. We are doing art, walking and shopping, none of which she would be happy or quiet enough to do! So we may do a bike tour before we leave Grin

herbaceous · 26/05/2014 19:20

DP seems OK. Though keeps having vaguely dizzy spells. These have been going on for a week or so, so I'm packing him off to the doctor tomorrow. It could well be stress/grief, but best to make sure.

He sneezed early and something went pop and rendered him insensible with pain. But that has now passed.

I'm so shagged. About two hours' sleep last night, plus hangover. But off to final choir rehearsal before our Harrogate tour. Spent the afternoon making a caramelised orange upside down cake, which is blasted delicious, if the sweetest thing on the planet. Took hours. It was meant to be a way to entertain DS, but he came in for about two minutes to whisk the sugar and eggs before returning to Horton Hears a Who.

Rosebag · 26/05/2014 20:25

Beachy I am in West Sussex...got a small flat there. Where are you when not in Barcelona?! Herbs the doctor for DP, sounds like the best plan. Wish better.
Having trouble getting DH out the way so that DD can write his birthday card. The perils do a small flat and a bloke who can't take a hint.

Rosebag · 26/05/2014 20:30

Of not do

motherinferior · 26/05/2014 20:33

I have a bit of work including lunch with CDiff tomorrow. Then the great Yorkshire caper unfolds...

Bit of a meh day here. Hate rainy bank hols.

NearTheWindymill · 26/05/2014 21:03

Herbs, Auriga, Crem - good wishes and love for better days.

Beachy, where in Putney were you and when did you leave?

Does anyone agree that this has to be one of the worst late May bank holidays ever weatherwise?

Just settling down to Corrie Blush.

Blackduck · 26/05/2014 21:20

Finishing up the beer from the beer fest here....

beachyhead · 26/05/2014 22:06

We left in about 2004, but we had been there from about 1989. We were on Putney Bridge Road, then Mexfield Road, so East Putney really....

NearTheWindymill · 26/05/2014 22:15

But East Putney is the bestest. We were in Deodar for 21 years and before that I had a little house in Brandelhow Road Smile.

Auriga · 26/05/2014 23:40

Rosebag, thanks for asking, DD sang O Chiome Belle by Francesca Caccini, with harpsichord and cello accompaniment. We could only find one recording and she sang it much better than that Grin

DH and I did The White Horse Neigh'd Aloud duet from King Arthur. The upper part is really counter-tenor, not alto, but I won it simply because we live together, so could rehearse at home Grin Grin

Beachy, enjoy the rest of your stay. I'd love to go back to Barcelona.

Am pondering extendable dog-sitting. My (healthy) sister is up for it but works full-time and lives 200 miles away. Still, maybe I can come up with other candidates. Thanks, Stropps.

We went out in the rain and bought a smart TV. Wondering whether to put the old CRT one on freecycle or take it to dump. Mum came with us for a bit of distraction and had her first meal at Nando's. She enjoyed it once she'd switched off her hearing aids.

Someone on MN recommended a furminator for the cat. Cannot believe how much fur comes off her with it and she adores it. Another source of innocent enjoyment.

originalpiratematerial · 27/05/2014 07:44

cremola I wish you all the best for your MRI scan today.

bigTillyMint · 27/05/2014 08:20

Yes good luck Cremo.

We are off to a local posh hotel for a spa day today, if we can rouse the girls!

motherinferior · 27/05/2014 09:38

Good luck, Cremo!

I imitated OPM this morning, zipped up a waterproof jacket and Ladyjogged off. After feeling quite ill with immobility yesterday, stuffing indoors bad-temperedly, it felt like the Only Option.

And in honour of OPM, here is That Picture which M has re-sent to me.
