(Recognise it?)

NearTheWindymill · 27/05/2014 09:40

Yes, good luck. What time's your scan?

Stropperella · 27/05/2014 10:16

MI Grin Reminds me of the time I spent living in a commune (of sorts), with a smashed-up front door with a big rainbow sticker on it saying "This is a peace house". Grin

Not a rainy bank holiday here, just a rather non-sunny one. I am feeling rather meh and peculiar, but I think this is def related to the CBT and Making Changes. I am going to have to go to Bridport today to take back a rug I rashly purchased which is a) too small and b) too dark for the sitting-room. I have got a slightly strange bee in my bonnet about replacing the current sitting-room rug; I think it may be to stop me thinking about other - more important - matters. I'm now trying to focus on making a list of the properly important things that I must get on and do this week. Like checking the business accounts paperwork for last year, which dh did last week, and taking them to the accountant.

motherinferior · 27/05/2014 10:21

I have sorted a bit of India but NONE of the summer. It's the committing money that stops me, among other things. DP said, gallingly, that "he'd booked and paid for a week of holiday" - er yes but that's just a week of hippy t'ai chi with the kids, all he had to do was say yes...

Blackduck · 27/05/2014 10:23

Good luck Cremo!

cremolafoam · 27/05/2014 11:05

Thanks crepeys. I am waiting for the ambulance to come and get me.
Hoping that it might be my sisters BFF who is a radiologist consultant .
Dunno which of 4 hospitals I might be going to. Confused
So much pain last night I had to go lie on the hard floor.
See you on the ither side

Rosebag · 27/05/2014 12:28

Auriga that sounds lovely... A singing family! At our end it's me (mezzo... Largely opera and mus theatre) and DS2. We discovered he was a bass!! He does choirs though, not solos. mother love the hair!
cremo I really hope you're on the way to better, pain free times. Best of luck.
Today is slowly but surely going pear shaped. Waiting to DS to arrive by train for DH's birthday lunch but Southern trains doing itself proud with broken levels crossings and signal problems. He's been stick at Horhsam forever. DH now driving to rescue him at Arundel. Have amended our lunch booking to god knows when. Another joyful day chez Rosebag ( aged colourful four letter word)

Rosebag · 27/05/2014 12:28

Add not aged

hattymattie · 27/05/2014 12:31

Just rushing through to say very good phone in on uni fees and value for money on Radio 4 for those who are interested.

And Crem - just to say - hope your scan gets to the bottom of things with your sciatica - nothing worse than continual pain like that. Good luck xx.

NUFC69 · 27/05/2014 13:16

I don't log on for a couple of days because I can't get on to my laptop, and you're already three pages into the next thread ...

Crem, sorry to hear of the latest episode with your back; it sounds horrendous and I hope that the MRI scan today finds out what is actually the problem (and that they can sort it out).

Herbs, I was musing on driving down to Harrogate to listen to you, and then I remembered that we have four visitors arriving on Thursday for a few days and decided that it wasn't on. Good luck. (And remember that it is colder up here than down south, so bring your thermals!). Currently 14 degrees and forecast to get no higher than 15 by the weekend.

Auriga, sorry to hear about your problems, too, but you must be so proud of DD.

I am having a quiet day today after three busy ones. DGS was lovely and we had a great time with him (I had forgotten, though, about the early mornings - 5.30 am on Sunday). We had a lovely Sunday lunch with my DD (DSoniL is a great cook). Then babysitting for DS and his wife. Rudy, grandparenting is great; however I have to say that before I had GC I didn't miss them at all, I just know now that I wouldn't be without them. DDil is positively glowing and looks as if she is about to give birth any minute, but baby isn't due until the beginning of August.

cremolafoam · 27/05/2014 13:18

Am back. Was grim. Doubled up pain meds thanks to lovely gp on phone
Will be out cold in a matter of minutes I think. Results later via phone call .

lalsy · 27/05/2014 14:22

Crem, you poor thing, this sounds dreadful. I hope the phone call goes OK.

Pouring with rain here, is depressing, two dc "revising" while Chief Blister Inspector tries to get some work done too. Crepeys, what would be a nice treat for me this summer? The rest of the family have various excitements lined up, but apart from our week away together, I don't. I might need both home-based treats (maybe will book some theatre) and possibly an idea for a couple of days away with dh (which is unprecedented so something that doesn't involve too much talking as that might prove too much of shock to the system. We would have gone to the Edinburgh Fringe but the dates don't work). It probably has to have good mobile signal and transport.

NUFC69 · 27/05/2014 14:39

Let's hope that it's not too long until you hear, Crem. At least the meds help for a while.

Lalsy, how about either York or Harrogate? Both lovely places for a few days, especially York, of course. You could always be brave and come further north to Northumberland, although the mobile coverage isn't good out in the sticks. Boast - it's lovely here today, and I have just come back inside after doing some gardening. Still not hugely warm, though. And I am unreasonably excited because a perennial I bought last autumn and which I thought was deceased, has suddenly started shooting. Sad person emoticon.

hattymattie · 27/05/2014 14:56

Fingers crossed for the results Crem - meanwhile have a good rest.

hattymattie · 27/05/2014 15:02

Lalsy - I would love to seen Wolf Hall as a theatre treat. One of the Crepies, I think Beachy may have seen it.

Horrible damp cold weather here - we are in some sort of limbo between school ending and exams starting and I think the weather agrees.

Had a booster diptherea, tetanus etc vaccine this morning as a friend had whooping cough over the winter and I haven't had a jab for longer than I can remember. The doctor said that should do me until I'm 65 (sob).

lalsy · 27/05/2014 15:30

Oooh good ideas....

Hatty, limbo is exactly it. It is very odd.

motherinferior · 27/05/2014 15:47

CDiff clearly thinks I have minimal grasp of grammar. Again. Designer doesn't think it's her job to research pictures. Shoot me now.

beachyhead · 27/05/2014 15:51

Wasn't me for Wolf Hall, think it was Wilbur. I have seen Stevie with Zoe Wannamaker which was amazing and I have tickets finally for King Lear at the NT which I am absurdly excited about Grin

There is a lot of Creme Catalan going down here...

lalsy · 27/05/2014 16:13

Thanks. I read that as Crepe Catalan Grin

bigTillyMint · 27/05/2014 17:17

Cremo, fingers crossed that the call comes with useful news.

We had a lovely day at the hotel spa - Spent all morning in the pool/jacuzzi/sauna/steam room, etc then lunch in the brasserie and then BFF and I had massages and facials while the others ate pyd and then took lots of photos in the grounds and we finished up with coffee and pastries. Now on our way home in a traffic jam.

CointreauVersial · 27/05/2014 17:24

A frustrating day at work; meeting an important deadline was thwarted by other people not meeting theirs. I'm not in the office tomorrow, and mistakenly thought that two weeks warning of this fact might be enough for people to readjust their diaries ever so slightly and get the necessary information to me in time for me to prepare what I needed to before I left.....but no. Angry I had a therapeutic moan to one of the directors.

DH and DS have just squelched in after an afternoon on the golf course. DS is still dodging meaningful revision.

We are off to Thorpe Park tomorrow en famille. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I shall be wearing waterproof trousers and stout shoes.

CointreauVersial · 27/05/2014 17:26

Envy BTM. Sounds heavenly.

hattymattie · 27/05/2014 17:37

Lalsy, if you go to York you can also do Fountains Abbey and Ripon cathedral plus Castle Howard where they filmed Brideshead many years back.

Whoever saw Wolf Hall needs to give us a review.Smile
