Aha! MI. One of these types that backs down when challenged. You shall overcome.

Re 27th, DP is being taken out by his friend to see King Lear for his birthday, so I have to 'allow' it. I'm sure I could get a babysitter, but it would probably mean I couldn't join you for early doors cocktails. We're out the next night too, for a which a babysitter will also be required, so it makes me feel slightly guilty. For no good reason.

lalsy · 11/06/2014 13:06

Martinis all round then.....

NU, so sorry to hear about all this.

Wilbur, I agree with others. Is it the attached junior? I'd be tempted to go straight to head, no school that has made a child so happy will want them to leave feeling rubbish, and the rounders thing at least is simple, way out of order and easily fixed (music thing sounds harder to put back in its box?).

I've got more chance of managing a MU in July too.

What do they mean, just out of normal range? Get the iron levels - mine was 9 at the last one The GP said the normal range for a woman is 12-150, so even 15 might be causing lack of energy?

Books left are probably already read - Narnia set and some others of that ilk, including one Hunger Games IIRC. And yes for sale section - we do a bit of selling/buying on there!

Herbs, does he have any mates who offer sleepovers after school?Wink

DS's toe is fixed! He rang me to say the chiropodist cut out a massive shard of nail and he can walk againSmile

DP has now said he won't go to King Lear, so I can go to meet up! I probably should have said 'really, are you sure?', but didn't.

Hah.

wilbur · 11/06/2014 14:53

I can do most Fridays in July (not 18th) and some Thursdays although I am keeping a couple free until I hear when a friend visiting from Cyprus is around. Or we could do a weekend - Sat or even Sunday lunch towards the end of the month (not Sun 20th)?

bigTillyMint · 11/06/2014 15:01

So Fri 11th or 25th July? Are Fridays better for crepeys out of London?

wilbur · 11/06/2014 15:06

Thanks for advice re dd - much as I was tempted to go and harangue the child who is the main instigator of this, I have been more measured and got in touch with the music teachers. They are going to help her learn the song and sort things out between the band members, but not sure what to do with the other singer. I'm hoping they can interest her in a solo career. Musical differences, eh?

By the way, I just have to list the things I have done today, and it's only 3pm - tidied frantically and shown film crew round house for commercial recce; hemmed skirt for dd to wear in play; lifted stuck manhole cover with a crowbar, chisel and lumphead hammer; changed bedding and cleaned for guest arriving tomorrow; cleaned out fridge; put away tesco delivery; paid several bills; planted up two hanging baskets (in time for them to flower in September Hmm) and checked work emails. So now I need to crack on with calling Dyno Rod; finishing sorting through Yearbook emails; making lists of things to do for ds2's end of term party; and completing and posting forms for dd's senior school place that were supposed to be in 3 weeks ago. Every day is like this at the moment, only with a variable selection of emergencies, computer-based admin and physical challenges. Aaargh.

bigTillyMint · 11/06/2014 15:18

Phew, Wilbur! I feel tired just reading that - it is really much easier just to go to workGrin

beachyhead · 11/06/2014 15:46

BTM, I should be fine for that 27th June, but July is a bit of a no no for me...

Just found an Auchan opposite the conference centre and snaffled a pair of swimming shorts for ds for €4.99 Grin. How is it that European supermarkets seem so much more fun than UK ones?

Barcelona is not as much fun in hot work clothes in a conference centre set in a concrete jungle about 5 miles outside town!

Wilbur, stop now.....

hattymattie · 11/06/2014 16:02

Beachy - it's the novelty - you would not believe the excitement to be had at our local Tesco superstore when we come over and that includes French DH.

Had very exhausting coffee this morning with dear friend who spend an hour telling me how her DS is totally misunderstood by everybody and is in fact very sensitive, when I know for a fact he is a perfect little shit. God help me if I am ever so blinded by my children.

bigTillyMint · 11/06/2014 16:04

Yes, even DH doesn't mind popping into a Supermarche on holiday!

Glad you can make the 27th Beachy. Hatty, are you likely to come over in July? (or for June 27th!)

hattymattie · 11/06/2014 16:16

Alas BTM we still have English Lit and History oral exams on 27th June. I would absolutely love to meet everybody but would need lots of advance notice for cheap Eurostar. I'm hoping to be over a bit more regularly if DD1 ends up at uni in the UK next year - will definitely keep you all posted if I'm swinging through London.

That's a shame Hatty. And your poor DD - so late to keep going.

Great, Ruby! Fingers crossed for your DM.

Blackduck · 11/06/2014 17:39

25th July doable too...as an out of town crepey Friday/weekend works best for me.
I have three children rampaging through the house.....

lalsy · 11/06/2014 18:19

Hatty, I know a couple of people like that and it cheers me hugely when I berate myself for being too critical of my own dc.....

wordassociationfootball · 11/06/2014 18:57

Ridiculously interested in seeing Rudy's before and after so book me in for July as well.

Blubbing continued when there weren't any Corn Thins in Sainsbury's [sceptical] AF due, I realise. DD1 has just started her second ever period, I'm hoping the one girl campaign called (I jest not) '125 reasons I hate my school' might quieten down a bit now. It's a bit rubbish actually, she really doesn't seem to like it and it's not a friends' thing. Anyway...I think the sceptical emoticon is really an askance moticon - discuss.

Ditto with foreign supermarkets - we couldn't get enough of Monoprix in Paris. Wilbur sounds like you've done absolutely the right thing re group. rosebag very pleased for you that you have talked to DD now. I fancy a second glass of wineahol and a bath with some reading for work. I need to avoid dd2 as she wants to give up her music lessons and I love her teacher and don't get it.

wordassociationfootball · 11/06/2014 18:58

Obvs I meant Hmm when I wrote sceptical.

bigTillyMint · 11/06/2014 19:06

WAF, what is it about her school that she hates? Is she Y7?

Auriga · 11/06/2014 19:20

Wilbur I hope DD's band/rounders troubles can be smoothed over and sorted in time for her to enjoy herself. These are the memories that stay with you from school, much more than the lessons IME.

Would love to meet on 27 but not sure yet where I'll be working or how late I'll get back. Can I be a maybe?

bigTillyMint · 11/06/2014 19:23

I'm sure that'll be OK Auriga - MrsS, what do you think? Are you OK to book?

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 11/06/2014 19:27

Shall I book it? I don't think it does cocktails, but there is a nice pub opposite, that I am fairly sure does. Let me check it out.

motherinferior · 11/06/2014 19:58

WAF, I am sorry - is there anything in particular?
