As for me, I'm feeling decidedly more chipper after a decent night's sleep. This was after a run of late nights and early mornings over the weekend - DH actually had a power nap in the car park when he arrived for work yesterday. Grin

He was pleased with his birthday golf cart - DS and I assembled it and wheeled it to his bedside stacked with gifts.

Hope tomorrow goes OK, Crem.

lalsy · 10/06/2014 13:23

Crem, she certainly deserves a lie down with netflix Smile.

motherinferior · 10/06/2014 14:13

CDiff has just asked if I've 'had anything from the designer'. Who doesn't start work till this Friday, FFS. I hate this. Find it v stressful.

Blackduck · 10/06/2014 15:10

I feel your pain MI.....

wilbur · 10/06/2014 15:40

Sorry to hear of bad news in the Rudy and NUFC households, hoping for an upturn soon.

I have forgotten my wallet at work today, so have had to cadge lunch money from petty cash and borrow a tenner to buy ds2 a sandwich to eat before Cubs. Couldn't remember if he had his cricket kit at school when I did remember (amazingly, but just a little too late) that he has a match this afternoon, and had to email his teacher to ask Blush. Not sure where my brain is these days.

On the upside, it does seem like we have a sunny weekend coming and I don't have to go anywhere apart from dropping small dcs at music on Saturday morning. I will be in the garden if anyone needs me. Smile

motherinferior · 10/06/2014 16:16

Have appeased CDiff and stopped panicking.

Right.

Rudy and NU, I'm so sorry. Any update on DD, NUFC?

Can happily report Rosebag is v lovely.

herbaceous · 10/06/2014 17:18

MI - CDiff s evidently a halfwit, so will have got used to people saying 'er... No' to him. I suggest you do the same.

Day of shadowing was most enlightening, and fortunately has confirmed that teaching literacy/ESOL is what I want to do. Though I'm going to have to work on my patience levels.

I got home, and DS has been setting me written homework, which he then marks, deducting points for poor letter formation, or sentences that are too 'obvious'. Apple... Tree... Etc.

Rosebag · 10/06/2014 17:27

Right back atcha mother!!! Very pleased not to have had to cross the river to meet you….Kings Cross suits me just fine…lazy cow that I am
Grin

Now, as a passing nod to S&B will someone please tell me what to wear on Saturday. DH has got corporate tix to Queens Club and the dress code (as its hospitality suite…small talk with -w- bankers etc) is smart casual. I think it's going to be hot and whilst I'm looking forward to taking in some great tennis (men's semis) I am worried about sitting in a non- shady area and getting burnt and a migraine…and also holding my own with the corporate types in the hospitality suite and not looking like the prat I usually feel at these things. I am fat and none of my chinos fit me. Help oh help.

We got similar to Wimbledon a few years ago and I came on, and leaked through my white trousers. Had to spend the day with a fleece tied round my waist. (TMI) Blush

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 10/06/2014 17:34

If it is hot, can you wear something cool and floaty? A linen dress?

I hate "smart casual" with a passion.

motherinferior · 10/06/2014 17:43

A big hat is your friend.

(She isn't fat, btw.)

motherinferior · 10/06/2014 17:45

Herbs, I am pmsl at the thought of you coming back to being marked.

NUFC69 · 10/06/2014 19:08

So my friend's DD is out of intensive care; her GM told me that she knows her parents but when she talks it is gibberish. Shock I think it is far too soon for anyone to know what will happen, but please keep her and her parents in your thoughts.

DSis is home from hospital; she was cycling back from Pilates (on a proper combined cycle/pedestrian split path) when she moved out of the way of two teenagers coming home from their Maths exam. Her back wheel must have slipped and down she went. She managed to get herself home before fainting; anyway, to cut a long story short, she has a wound in her arm almost down to the bone and a bad knee (both of which were full of gravel). The local hospital were excellent but they insisted that she had to have ABs through a IV, and that was that until this morning. She says that her arm is throbbing with pain, but apart from that ...

DH is out in the garden doing exciting things with a big spray and I am just putting dinner together - when we have the GC dinner is always something that I have cooked previously so that I can throw the stuff on the plates. Completely knackered tonight after looking after two of them, the weather has been lovely so we have been out in the garden for most of the day.

Rosebag · 10/06/2014 19:13

MrsS yes, linen…floaty. Liking that. You're right. Smart casual isn't a dress code…. mother* have a wide brimmed straw boater, which I will dig out.

Anyway SHE PHONED!! Oh happy day. A really grown- up voice on the end of the phone….having an amazing time. Saying very little about the historical sights and a lot about the shopping. Coping well with the heat by the sound of it Smile

bigTillyMint · 10/06/2014 19:37

Yes, floaty linen sounds good. And a supply of you-know-whatWink And glad your DD is enjoying herself - trips often are a time for them to grow up a bit, aren't they?

Glad your news is a bit better today, NU.

How did any Y10's taking C1 today find it? DD said it was hard.

Am feeling smug having got DD her two requests for her room - a big cushion and a full length mirror - for £5 each off our local forum. And I have sold one mountain of books, still other things to go...

Stropperella · 10/06/2014 19:48

NU, fingers crossed for the poor girl with the head injury. And wishing your dsis a speedy recovery.

BD, hope you have a nice, slow day tomorrow.

Rosebag, glad to hear you had some communication from your faraway offspring.

Dd has only one Maths exam left to go and is looking forward to a big party on Weymouth Beach on Friday night. Not sure I am, but still... She is currently in a huff because ds has come home with his assessment levels (he is in Y4 and about to move up to middle school) and he has achieved 5a in one of them, which has put her nose right out of joint, as she belongs to the era when the highest mark they could get in SATs was a 5a, so officially he looks like he is 2 years ahead of her. I rather think that unofficially it actually is that way, but .. ahem. She is now mooching around complaining about what a hard life it is being "stupid".

motherinferior · 10/06/2014 19:49

CDiff has just sent me an email (about payment - is long story but effectively she's changed her mind about something) saying she is 'loathed' to do something. I am enormously cheered by this, in perverse manner.

bigTillyMint · 10/06/2014 19:52

It's nearly over, Stropps! Hopefully she will have a great time at the party and then the prom. When is that?

DD has just realised that she has a deadline for her ICT and she has done NOTHING towards itHmm

cremolafoam · 10/06/2014 19:58

Rose bag we cadged debenture tickets for Wimbledon a few years ago( incl strawbs cream and shampoo) 'twas lovely . I went for a blue linen shirt dress with a straw hat and wedge sandals. Shoes were comfortable ( fair bit if walking and standing) and the hat kept off most of the sun as we ended up for at least an hour in direct sunlight. We were boiled. I wished I'd laid off the champagne and brought a giant bottle of water and a fan.Grin

MI Skipton ont'bbc2 just now. Antique road trip. Ee'oop lots of bargains.

motherinferior · 10/06/2014 20:05

I wished I'd laid off the champagne
