Hello, welcome, take a seat and get comfy!

A few years ago I started a countdown to Christmas thread. This year it inspired a few follow on threads so now we're on our "Get set for Summer"

The basis of these threads is adopting 20 habits which make a difference but don't take too much time or effort. The habits come from previous threads but can be adapted to your own needs.

Good morning!
So far, I've shredded....then my DD's best friend arrived, I'm pretending to be busy while I am eavesdropping on them for a while :)

The plan is to dry brush, have a shower, moisturise, put a bit of make up on and get on with a busy day. The weather is abysmal, but I have friends round tonight for the Eurovision. In desperate need of a manicure!!!

Helgathehairy · 10/05/2014 10:27

So exercise yesterday was walking up a hill with another woman to ask 2 men why they were on my land without permission (ferreting) so told them go away and walking around the house last night with DD who thought 11pm was way too early for bed!!!

welcome cod, that sounds like a good list. I too am guilty of not giving routines a chance to work :)

I'm off out for a walk with friends today, so that will be my exercise. I'm also going to try not to have too many painkillers, just see how I go. The flossing went out the window yesterday and today, for obvious reasons! Lots of stress at work at the moment mean I'm drinking too much so I'm going to concentrate on cutting that right back, and trying to only drink outside of the house (which is probably two nights a week at most).

lucysmam · 10/05/2014 10:37

Good morning all Smile

Not much to report today...found shoes in the garage yesterday, eventually, have decided on gold so will have to put the silver ones back for the mo as there's no space for extras until we get some proper storage. Cleared the last of the junk out of the garage too & tidied it up properly, just need a nice box for the baby bits I've kept & to actually freecycle stuff like the bouncy chair/steriliser/bottle warmer/big buggy (even though the small one is four & it doesn't get used any more Blush )...not quite ready for that yet.

Sorted haircut for next week, am going to look for a dye tomorrow in town with dd1.

Finger nails seem to be growing stupidly fast so will file them tonight instead of tomorrow maybe & might have a look see if I can find a polish for when we go out tomorrow too.

Other than that, bit of a meh day here...have cleaned top to bottom, barring hoovering but will get off my bum and do that shortly. Oh and no make up + hair not done because I cba but we're not going anywhere & MIL will take me as she finds me & anyone else - it's tough Smile

Hope you're all having a nice weekend so far Smile

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/05/2014 18:19

I decided to (on the days I'm not at work ) wear more jewellery instead of it hanging unworn in my case.

I did a scrub this morning, going to wax tonight
Bought some Soap& Glory goodies (eye gel and the CC cream)

Phillip Kingsley Elasticiser tonight

And on the back of the "Using Up Half Finished Make-Up" thread, I have some random jars. L'Occitane in the yellow jar, (Divine Cream) it's nice on my skin but the smell Envy vom.

Buffing my nails with my Leighton Denny buffer when I'm on MN and Avoplex at night.

Still drinking loads of water (hot flushes)

JohnCusacksWife · 10/05/2014 18:35

So today's progress is my first haircut in 6 months and I feel so much better! Ive also started clearing out some old stuff from my wardrobe. I'm getting my colours done next month and I'm aiming to end up with half the amount of clothes I've currently got but wear them twice as often as (hopefully) they'll all go together instead of being a lot of random junk! Onwards & upwards.....

RhondaJean · 10/05/2014 18:42

Can I join?

I'm in a serus mood to make more of myself.

I don't know if I will come up with 10 but here is a list...

Cleanse tone moisturise morning and evening
Facial (home) once a week
Body scrub every shower
Deep condition hair twice a week
Body lotion after every shower
Do something with my feet
Train 5 days a week
Cut sugar
Paint my nails more
Colour hair four weekly
Hair cut every 8 weeks
Dry hair properly more often rather than leaving to its own devices
Get some weekend clothes that look nice
Daily vitamins
Keep drinking more water

That's more than ten isn't it...

Helgathehairy · 10/05/2014 21:47

So the alarm is set for 6am eek! I probably won't be checking in while I'm away but will try to have some kind of routine.

Will check in once I'm back.

welcome butter and rhonda, this is the right place! It doesn't matter what your starting point is, or whether you fall off, just hop on when you're ready :)

Helga have a fab holiday!

Oooh, check out all the hair cuts going on! I'm impressed Grin I have mine booked for Saturday 24th, this was a rebook for eight weeks after my last one - hark at me! I've decided after all the hair chopping on the last reno thread that I'm going to grow it now and get rid of my bloody fringe so will be going in for eight-week tidyups to keep the ends looking smart.

Teeth are being brushed with more confidence now, am mouthwashing but still not brave enough to floss as they are all feeling very sensitive, particularly in the mornings. Not sure when to start the shredding, I might have to give it another week to let these holes heal over a bit more.

Hair got washed and intensively conditioned last night, but it looks like I've been dragged through the hedge backwards by the frizz monster. I'll see if I have time to tackle it with straighteners later to tame it a bit.

Rollermum · 11/05/2014 14:07

Hello all,

I'd love to join you! Well done on all the renovating so far! I have a 7 month old so am a bit time pressed, but I really want to feel and look better now I'm emerging from baby chaos and back to work in 95 days!

I have a thyroid issue and so am v prone to weight gain and depression. Eating healthy is key for me, hence my number 1. I have 5st to lose pretty much.

My list:

  1. Eat paleo
  2. Gym twice a week. If can't get there, substitute shred
  3. Every 7lbs lost (have 73lb to lose) buy a new item of clothing
  4. Makeup when going out (baby permitting)
  5. Cleanse and moisturise at night
  6. Whitening toothpaste (blanx)
  7. Paint hand and tie nails once a week
  8. Continue to tackle wart on hand
  9. Buff feet once a week
10. Moisturise hands daily 11. Shave legs / wax occasionally 12. Floss daily 13. Use conditioner at least every other hair wash 14. Take vitamins daily 15. Moisturise after shower when have time (aim for once a week).

Helga have a lovely trip.

Control hope your gums are healing fast.

Butter thanks for your other post directing me here!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/05/2014 15:13

Cor , I was out today and everyone was in winter clothes (except me- I'm hot flushing so I cannot over wrap myself)

I bought a little box of Benefit tricks at Boots - a mini BadGal mascara, a PosyTint mini and a Porefessional mini.
Only tried the mascara (huge brush and not a lot of product) but it seems less clumpy that They're Real, so I might buy that.

Good Things Manuka Honey Cleanser - used it yesterday with a hot muslin cloth.....and it's lovely. Smells fab (if you like honey Grin )

lucysmam · 11/05/2014 15:19

Hello & welcome Roller. I particularly like number 3 on your list Grin , sounds like a realistic aim!

We're just in from town, shopping for a dress for dd1 (my dad bought each of the girls a dress last weekend but picked styles that just weren't practical for dd1 twice - they had back zips she wouldn't manage without help- so he gave me the cash instead). I picked up some £4 pumps in Primarni, bb cream and mascara in Superdrug and an Olia 'light chocolate' hair dye in Boots while we were out. The dye came with an intensive conditioner tube so didn't replace mine this week.

Might aim for a new eyeshadow pallette next week too.

I think dd1 may be hitting puberty early Sad , she smells quite sweaty lately (not in a little girl played out all day way unfortunately) so am going to have a look for a deodorant bodyspray or somesuch for her & try gently introducing the idea of personal hygiene. Not what I had expected at seven yo.

Control you're brave considering shredding after teeth out! I'd be too worried about the jumping around jolting my teeth & being painful Confused

How's everyone else doing today? Smile

Pollywallywinkles · 11/05/2014 18:10

I've now hot a month until my big birthday, so I'm determined to not let things slip.

My biggest problem has been exercise and now that I've taken up golf (still at the lesson stage) I'm practicing virtually every day. I still need some other exercise, but I'm pleased with how things are going.

I had my hair cropped last week and it's looking like I need to change my shampoo/conditioner.

My hands and nails need a bit more effort than I have been putting in. I'm really struggling with nail varnish not staying on much more than a day. It doesn't seem to matter which brand. I'm beginning to wonder if its an age thing. Has anyone else had problems like this as they have got older?

Karbea · 11/05/2014 20:11

Dh just said he thinks we've both stopped making any kind of effort, oh the shame :(

Please someone nag me into renovating myself!

Lambzig · 11/05/2014 20:16

Hi can I join you. Have been renovating myself a bit for a couple of months, but this thread will hopefully give me a kick start.

What I am doing already.

  1. Exercise minimum of five days. I have finished shred and working my way through ripped in 30.
  2. Double cleanse, acid tone, serum and moisturise every night and morning.
  3. Vitamins and fish oil every day

What I need to do

  1. No alcohol in the week
  2. Do low carb properly and up the portions of veg.
  3. Body brushing
  4. Stops lobbing in jeans every day and wear smarter clothes.
  5. Drink water (I hate the taste of water and I guess sparkling would be cheating.
  6. Moisturise my body after every bath/shower.
10. Regular foot care rather than blitz and then ignore for ages.

I go on holiday in six weeks. I have lost 8lb and have a further 8lb to lose if I can.

Lambzig · 11/05/2014 20:18

Stop slobbing, stupid ipad autocorrect

HellonHeels · 11/05/2014 20:21

sparkling water isn't cheating, it's better than no water. Drink up!

lucysmam · 11/05/2014 20:35

Lamb that sounds a good start to me!

Sad Karbea is he wanting a bit of rennovation too?

Well, light chocolate hair dye is on later than I had planned because the girls don't seem to want to go to bed! Fingers crossed it turns out alright!

Control I think I'm going to try and get my hair cut a bit more all one length-ish so I can do more styles with it...not that I will, I'll probably end up just blow drying and straightening as usual Confused It was you who dreaded going to the hairdresser on the first thread, wasn't it!? If so, Massive achievement keeping on top of going back Smile

Ten mins to kill mooching on here now before I go get a shower and see what my hair's like Confused

lucysmam · 11/05/2014 21:35

hmmm, not so sure about the hair...think I maybe should have gone dark chocolate instead but that might be because of the blonde at the end of my hair so will get a good few inches chopped off next week and colour it again the week after in preparation for going out the following weekend Smile

Oh, and, I forgot my feet again so will do them tomorrow...no excuse for that really, my pumice stone lives on the end of the bath Confused

Karbea · 11/05/2014 21:54

Umm I dunno, he is a bit of a product tart and loves clothes (we've a lot of gay guy friends and he was their project before we met), so I don't think it would take him much, and tbh it's so much easier for men.
