Hello, welcome, take a seat and get comfy!

A few years ago I started a countdown to Christmas thread. This year it inspired a few follow on threads so now we're on our "Get set for Summer"

The basis of these threads is adopting 20 habits which make a difference but don't take too much time or effort. The habits come from previous threads but can be adapted to your own needs.

Hello all and welcome to the newbies.

It's currently 10.15am on a beautiful sunny Sunday and I'm sitting at the kitchen table in my dressing gown, not showered, greasy hair (needs washing every day), oily skin as it's having a freak out and having to use heavy moisturiser to calm it down and just noticed I seem to have missed lots when I shaved my legs yesterday. Sigh.

control that sounds grim. I guess its a keep your eye on the prize situation. Hopefully they're feeling a little better soon.

parttime re the bikini picture (although I'm not that brave) in my head I'm a few sizes bigger than I am so its nice when I realise I'm actually don't have rolls of fat.

Id like to join this thread. I know I'm joining in a bit late - summer is practically here - but I suppose better late than never. I look and feel like such a wreck, I'm in need of major renovation work Smile. I thought if I post my intentions for the week here I am more likely to remember to do them.

So, this week I am going to:

  • drink one glass of water for each cup of tea that I drink.
  • get my eyebrows waxed/threaded
  • do manicure and remember to use Vaseline on my nails before bed every night
  • touch up my grey roots
  • have a home facial
  • restart my walking exercise program - 30 mins fast walking ever other day.
KiaOraOAotearoa · 15/06/2014 22:11

partime and dancing, your lists sound good!

I need a recap for my list, I think! helga, haven't had any fish or fish oil capsules for AGES!!!

So,

  1. exercise (two classes a week and 5 mornings a week I shred). Also walks at the weekend. Still, I am gaining weight like is going out of fashion. Hey-ho.
  2. Fluid intake. I have a bottle at work, I am pretty good with it. Home.... too much coffee and hardly any water. Must remember to pour a coffee and a glass of water at the same time.
  3. Fruit and veggies in season, and lots of it!
  4. Stop eating because I am bored!!!!!!! I am not bored!
  5. No cake or biscuits unless I made them myself.
6.defuzz properly. I can't see properly in the shower, I am seriously short sighted and the light is shining behind me. Short of shaving with a torch and prescription swimming goggles, not sure what I can do. Must hire somebody to do it for me, surely.
  1. Hot water with lemon ready for when I start shredding in the morning.
  2. Find another lovely lady for threading eyebrows and tash. This one is seriously heavy handed, I've done really well.
  3. Pay attention to my pedicure and make sure the nailvarnish is applied (currently I have nothing on, must apply some)
10. I think I'd like to start running. Not sure though, I'll give the couch to 5 thingy a go, see how I go.

:)

cardamomginger · 15/06/2014 22:41

You have all encouraged me to do the hot water with juice of half a lemon or lime thing - and I love it!

Can I remind us all to either brush teeth before hand or to wait at least 30 minutes after drinking it before brushing teeth!

ControlGeek · 16/06/2014 07:32

parttime that is a brilliant idea! I am going to shamelessly nick it. I am hoping to go to Spain in the net couple of months and I'm determined to go to the beach in a bikini. I keep putting off buying one because I feel pretty fat at the moment, especially with having lost a week of shredding and my weight's gone up again. I am going to pick one, buy it, and do a 'before' shot - and there'd bloody well better be a difference to be seen in the 'after' shot Grin

Thanks helga and polly, grim is most definitely the word! I am so relieved that the pain is pretty much gone and all I can feel now is a constant tension. I've even been eating real food (providing I cut it up into tiny pieces)!

I will shred this morning once DP has left for work. I've bought a nail varnish remover specifically for weak nails, but DP has caused that much fuss when I've got my nail varnishes out of an evening that I'm not bothering to wear them much.

CallingAllEngels · 18/06/2014 17:52

lucysmam you're on Mumsnet Swears By!

KiaOraOAotearoa · 21/06/2014 10:59

Well hello!
It is a beautiful day here, skirt and vest type of weather, just gorgeous.
Shredded, showered, sun cream applied, a bit of breakfast, pedicure done, I am in the garden with my coffee.
It is a rest day for me, I had an extremely challenging week. I'll have lunch in the garden and might steal a nap

ControlGeek · 22/06/2014 12:56

It's gorgeous here, too - we'll be off out for bowling in a bit. My news for this week is that the 'dress for the job you want' has actually paid off - I've been promoted!!! Three different managers recommended me for the role :)

Will get back to shredding again from Monday. I had the migraine from hell Thurs/Fri so took a couple of days off.

Dancingstar · 22/06/2014 14:20

I didn't do too badly this week and managed most things on my list except for the home facial. I was going to do that on Friday evening but got a last minute party invite so went and did that instead Smile

This weeks plan is:
*Keep drinking water and cut down on the amount of tea I drink

  • Eat 2 portions fruit or veg with each meal and cut amount of carbs I eat by half
  • Home facial
  • Home pedicure
  • Vaseline on my nails before bed - I can see this is making a difference
  • Keep up the brisk walking every other day.
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/06/2014 14:52

Drinking loads of water (not due to any health kick but major hot flushes)
Waxed the armpits yesterday
Had my haircut

Plan:
epilate legs
dye hair
use my Leighton Denny self tan

Lost 4lb this week Grin by cutting out fat and wheat/lentils (bloaty and gallbladder, makes it easier in a way to adhere to if it makes my life better)

CallingAllEngels · 22/06/2014 17:02

Waxing armpits ounds ridiculously painful 70 !

Congratulations on the promotion control Flowers

Hope you had a relaxing day kia

Am doing better on not stuffing myself with crap and my stomach has been squashed by baby and am craving milk and fruit. Must do better on water though. Am so thirsty atm.

Tonight, face and feet Smile

Really have to sort my wardrobe out to see what fits me atm and get my maternity clothes down from the loft.

ControlGeek · 27/06/2014 13:06

Isn't it quiet! Has everyone gone on holiday without me?

This is it, I have exactly 6 weeks to shift 11lb. I have bought two bikinis and will take 'before' pictures tonight. From Monday I will be shredding every day, and will get back to alternate day fasting as I've really fallen off the wagon with that. I'll be drinking lots of water, and alcohol intake will be zero. This is non-negotiable. I have to do this.

CallingAllEngels · 27/06/2014 14:00

Good luck control !

I refuse to step on the scales! Just bought some new pg vitamins (was only taking folic acid and mw has recommended a multi pg vitamin).

Wearing lovely new maxi dress from fat face that shows off my bump.

just spent €€€ on Estee Lauder (night eye stuff and pore refining finisher).

now jus trying to work out what to make for dinner (after a sneaky Mcdonalds for lunch Blush )

Pollywallywinkles · 28/06/2014 16:49

It is quiet.

Hope all goes well with your regime Control and congratulations on the promotion.

I just keep plodding along. I've managed to be quite active rather than any formal exercise. I'm still having golf lessons and practicing at least 5 days a week.

I have been spending far too much money on bags and dresses and shoes, so I need to reign that it.

For the first time in years I have some fake tan. It is one of the gradual St Tropez ones, although I think its more of a cross between a full fake tan and a gradual one. Given my experience of it not being as forgiving as a gradual tan I bought a tan mitt today.

ControlGeek · 30/06/2014 07:37

70 well done on the weightloss, but how on earth did you survive your pit wax??

Engels Glad you are finally showing off your bump! You are of course excused from scales-stepping for at least the next 6 months Wink

Thanks Polly, yes all good here. 6am shred, check. 3 3/8lb lost in four days, check! Ok a lot of that was AF making a visit, and me coming completely off beer and wine. Only another 7 7/8lb to go! I've taken 'before' photos in my two bikinis, but I'm not going to share them on fb until I am sure the 'after' photos will be an improvement

I'm still taking daily photos of my teeth, and I'm sure I can see some small changes already. I have another 4 weeks before the braces get adjusted, so still time for them to settle down and stop hurting.

How's everyone else doing? Lucysmam are you all set for the summer holidays? helga how are things with you?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/07/2014 20:49

Hi, this thread has slipped down a bit so I'm bumping. Grin

So - keeping up with the very boring very effective fat free/wheat free gallbladder diet and the old guts are less bloaty.

Bought some nice things (dress in H&M, blue top H&M, I don't normally go in there but DD wanted leggings)

Dyed hair tonight

Bought a Sleek Eye Palette in Au Natural and a couple of their lip palettes - Ballet (nudes) and Tease (Reds)

(And the armpits will need waxed again as a dark haired bird, there's no escape)

KiaOraOAotearoa · 06/07/2014 06:10

It has indeed (slipped a bit)
I think I am on top of my routines now, hence the lack of updating. Well, more or less.
What I need to remember though is slow down. It might be the beautiful weather, but I am always on the go go go. I've got so many worries and projects and my mind is simply not switching off. I went to bed quite early last night (plus I had an afternoon nap yesterday!!!) so by 5 am I was wide awake.
Rather than 'doing' stuff, I lit a nice smelling candle (courtesy of another thread on mn) and I'm relaxing... It started to rain now!

Wardrobe wise, the linen skirt and trousers I bought at the beginning of may are still going strong. I got a couple of black tshirts to go with them.
I renewed my bras, I buy two every year in the sales/good offers. This time I went for black and nude (as opposed to white-got some linen tshirts, you can see the bra through, but I'm ok with nude). I need to buy some nude knickers. Once that's done, I'll start culling the drawer and throwing unsuitable knickers.

And that's about all. :)

CallingAllEngels · 06/07/2014 11:25

What candles kia ?

Everything is slipping due to heat, end of term madness and pg. Slathered on some body butter last night and went to thermal baths on Monday.

Must get hair cut before holiday!

I really have to, pack away my non-fitting clothes and get maternity clothes down from loft. Will prob try and pick up a few bits as well for the summer.

KiaOraOAotearoa · 06/07/2014 14:25

:) mine is a Lucia one, thyme flower and coriander. The thread was 'scented candles-a worthwhile luxury'

Good luck sorting your summer clothes! When are you due?

Pollywallywinkles · 06/07/2014 16:48

I like the sound of thermal baths.

Not a lot has changed for me as I still need some more exercise although I am doing more than I was.

Next project is to go through my wardrobe and drawers as they are in a bit of a mess and I'm certain that there will be some hidden delights in there that have been forgotten.

CallingAllEngels · 06/07/2014 19:49

Due between Christmas and NY so still 6 months to go. This is dc 2 and feel huge already (was hardly showing at all at this stage with ds). Got my maternity clothes down from loft and there are a few good tops for summer but Dutch mothercare has a sale on so will pop in tomorrow on my way home from work.

will check out the candle thread thanks kia

thermal baths were bliss polly and have a few more money off vouchers to use before the end of september. Last pg had a full body massage 6 months and it was amazing so will definitely be heading there again soon.

Pollywallywinkles · 08/07/2014 20:34

Sounds good calling.

I've got the rest of the week off and we are tied at home tommorrow afternoon so I'm going to start project wardrobe.

CallingAllEngels · 09/07/2014 10:05

Couldn't find anything in prenatal yesterday (like a flipping jumble sale) and was feeling rubbish so headed home and did some online shopping instead. waiting for 2 pairs of maternity skinny jeans and 3/4 length sleeve tops. Some lovely short tops on jojo maman bebe but they won't get here before we leave for holiday so will order when we get back.

Working from home and feeling super comfy in one of my maternity tops form last time round (stripes, cross over on bust, 3/4 length sleeves) with slouchy jeans.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/07/2014 12:44

I'm in my Shame Making ancient jeans (the ones that are nearly worn through at the inner seam and I have to wear a belt to keep them up; I can take them off without undoing them)
They're a Tesco size 12 regular length.
In my wardrobe, I have a Brand New pair of the same jeans, same size.
Can I get the buggers on? No.
Well, I can , but I like to breathe.

So my next Operation Renovation Aim, is to ditch the saggy-round-my-bum ones and get into the new ones.

I'm watching Diane Gilman on QVC (jeans for the over 40s) I bought a pair a couple of years back, sent them straight back Shock

KiaOraOAotearoa · 12/07/2014 08:49

Hello ladies :)
Enjoying my coffee in the garden this morning :)
I have been wearing my new dress this week, makes me feel so good! I've been feeling a bit rough, so omitted to put make up on(too shattered) and people kindly commented I look exhausted. I must rest this weekend!
Which makes me think:how do you rest when you are at home at the weekend, with a child and a list of things to do as long as my arm?
So, this morning, coffee, breakfast, going for a shower ( wearing all black to make me appear slimmer and paler and sicker than I am haha).
Then DD's activity, going to have my eyebrows threaded and buy yet more loombands, milk, the paper and then back home for a nap?
This evening I will have a long bath I think, with a camomile tea and a book.
Tomorrow I need to do my manicure and pedicure and sort out what I am wearing next week. Because I am not ironing that massive pile this weekend, I am too tired.
I think there's football on tonight, I'll be able to go to sleep early!!!
Hope you all have a great weekend :)
