Hello, welcome, take a seat and get comfy!

A few years ago I started a countdown to Christmas thread. This year it inspired a few follow on threads so now we're on our "Get set for Summer"

The basis of these threads is adopting 20 habits which make a difference but don't take too much time or effort. The habits come from previous threads but can be adapted to your own needs.

so, DS2 has been ill for three days so up all night so in minus points on the exercise and sleep

I have managed to spend £50 I shouldn't on moisturisers and eye creams though. Hooray!

Haircut booked for Friday

Portions of fruit eaten and much green tea consumed

cardamomginger · 07/05/2014 14:26

Fit flops in the rain does not sound good! Leather converse type shoes? And leggings under the maxi skirt that you can take off if it gets warmer?

Went to yoga. Had quinoia salad for lunch. Not eaten any sweets or chocolate yet.

Need to get to bed earlier. I'm not even doing anything important. Just faffing about on MN.

getoffthephonenoworelse · 07/05/2014 18:16

Great to see a new thread. Still keeping up the cleansing and moisturising. Hands and feet need attention but I have a voucher for a pedicure my dh bought for me last birthday, so I might ask him for a voucher for a manicure for this birthday which is in a few weeks. I have to control my eating and start exercising, have had a bit of a stressful time in recent month or two and eat for comfort. This thread should help spur me on

HellonHeels · 07/05/2014 19:10

Hello all can I jump in? Well done all the renovators, you are inspirational!

My list:

Keep to my healthy eating plan (combo of weightwatchers + low sugar)
Yoga at least 3 times a week, preferably 4 or 5 (I do mostly vinyasa, it is really building muscle. I will look quite toned once I can get to a healthy weight)
Bike ride at least once a week
Proper facial skincare and moisturising. I'm using B from Superdrug, pretty cheap range and works well for me.

floss daily (I hardly ever do!)

Mindfulness / meditation

Clear out wardrobe of ill-fitting clothes; put together outfits the night before, pack yoga bag the night before.

Make work lunch every evening

lucysmam · 07/05/2014 20:46

Good evening all Smile

Looks like everyone's doing well with the new thread!

I'm back to proper exercise of three miles daily (has been hit and miss with the girls being off but is easier having school runs to do).

Unfortunately I have impetigo in my hair again so that's just getting a basic wash and blow dry until it clears up.

Helga it's been raining on & off here today...I very nearly went out in a pair of ballet pumps and my winter coat but swapped at the last minute Grin . Do you have a mac style coat? Maybe something like that over leggings/slouchy trousers and a fairly lightish sweater and Converse type shoes? (you could put a vest or tee under the sweater so you can add/remove layers according to how warm/cold it is).

I got a new dress yesterday - a treat from dp Grin Need to take up the shoulder straps by about three inches tomorrow when the girls are at school & find myself some nipple covers (I don't think a bra will work under it - shall post a pic on fb after tomorrow's school run & see what others think).

I need to cut caffiene somewhat & stop munching popcorn of a nighttime Hmm ...will get back to you on that one...

Huntzberger · 07/05/2014 20:56

Still haven't managed to get out for a run, but will by the end of the week - the first one is the hardest! I enjoy it once I'm out there.

Am adding a new one to my list - not eating after 7pm. Otherwise I find it too easy to pick and graze all evening and feel rotten at the end of it.

ControlGeek · 07/05/2014 21:00

It's been nice weather here, but will be turning rainy from tomorrow.

This is it - the most major part of operation renovate-the-old-geek is starting tomorrow. I am having three teeth extracted so that I can have braces fitted in a couple of weeks. It's costing me a bloody packet - almost twice what my NHS dentist thought it would - but will be worth it in the long run. So tonight, I am eating crisps and drinking beer, because I won't be doing either for a while!

cardamomginger · 08/05/2014 09:03

Good luck control!!!

ControlGeek · 08/05/2014 09:48

Thank you Confused

Helgathehairy · 08/05/2014 12:03

control good luck - I hope all goes smoothly. I should have had braces as a child but didn't and I'm just too dentist phobic to do it as an adult.

Arghhhh after day one everything's gone to pot :(

ControlGeek · 08/05/2014 13:36

Hang on in there karbea, we're all allowed slip-ups as long as we get straight back on the Renowagon Grin

ControlGeek · 08/05/2014 13:37

helga same here - I refused point blank as a teenager, but it's been on my mind for a couple of years now - it took this long for me to be brave enough to act on the idea! Extractions all done now, I survived (so did DP's hand!) Grin

Neonbabyblue · 08/05/2014 20:27

TheRealMary hope your little one is better soon, DD has been ill for 3 days too, I think we are getting cabin fever but until she stops throwing up we are going nowhere.

I haven't done much exercise but I have stuck to my diet and taken my vitamins.

Managed to give myself a pedicure, apply body lotion every day and drink plenty of water. And my skin is getting better after the horrible reaction to the eye cream!

KiaOraOAotearoa · 08/05/2014 22:12

Hello ladies!
I had a very successful shopping day, I'll count this as exercise, 4 h non stop walking!
Tomorrow morning the plan is to wake up, drink my coffee, shred (I'm on level 2), shower, have my hot water with lemon, vitamins, go to work for 14 h, come back, do my manicure.

I bought new knickers today, I needed some that didn't dig and split my tummy into two further tummies, sorry for the TMI. I am now in between size 12 and 14!!!!!!I am tempted to go back to smoking ffs, I am not losing anything!not good. At all!!!

lucysmam · 08/05/2014 22:21

Good evening Smile

Control how's the beer going down? I fancy a Wine & there's a glass left in the fridge but I cba to drink it Hmm

lucysmam · 08/05/2014 22:22

Neon and TheRealMary, how are your dc's tonight?

lucysmam · 08/05/2014 22:23

karbea we all fall off the wagon at some point! Smile

lucysmam · 08/05/2014 22:29

(sorry for multi mini posts, saves my brain going Confused trying to remember who posted what Grin )

We've been invited out for a meal at the end of the month at a fancy hotel so I altered my dress straps today & am off in the garage of doom to have a look through my boxes of shoes in there to see if I have anything to go with it. If not I'll have to invest in a pair from Primarni along with some spangly jewellery. I forgot to pop pic on fb earlier so will do so after the morning's school run.

Must book a trim at the hairdressers and get my brows threaded before then so I look tidy & presentable!

HellonHeels · 09/05/2014 10:32

Checking in to report I have been flossing!

Healthy eating, low sugar, skincare and yoga all going well this week. Tonight will be my fourth yoga class for the week and I'm booked to go on Sunday as well though that one may have to be cancelled for family stuff.

Bike ride planned for Saturday morning.

I bought jeans in TKMaxx yesterday, 31 waist (down from a 34 end of last year). They are a bit tight yet on the arse and thighs but in a week or two they will fit.

Not doing so well on mindfulness/meditation. The yoga helps a lot but I need something more because it's very stressful at work and I'm not coping.

HellonHeels · 09/05/2014 10:36

oh forgot to add, work lunch making, packing bag night before and picking out next day's outfit are all working well!

Got a compliment on my outfit yesterday, because I'd had time in the evening to try things on and put together something different.

Helgathehairy · 09/05/2014 10:59

Back to doing the bare minimum again this morning. I just don't have the time in the mornings when DD is awake to do much even though she's always happy out in her cot when I'm finished showering.

I'm 99% packed. I think I'm going to wear jeans (very soft ones) on the plane but take the maxi skirt in hand luggage in case DD throws up on me.

I'm going to take my fitbit with me and track my steps everyday while I'm there and then hopefully do the shred a few times a week once I'm home.

Helgathehairy · 09/05/2014 11:01

hell well done on the flossing! It's something I always forget as well (and my dentist gives out) but now I've built it into my routine and do it at a certain time everyday.

OP posts:
ControlGeek · 09/05/2014 21:03

Hellon well done on the flossing, and on the compliment - doesn't it feel good!!! Once you get yourself into a routine you'll soon get used to what goes with what.

helga yay! You're so nearly there Grin Good idea having a vom-plan. Have a fantastic break!

All a bit sore today, but really fed up not eating anything. Work was really stressful today so I ended up buying a breaded plaice and just eating the soft centre at lunch Blush Hopefully from tomorrow things will start to get easier, and Monday I'll be back to normal lunches again.

Clothes today were my old standbys of workish trousers and top, but this time paired with a black jacket instead of a knitted cardi. I need to drop 11-12 lbs to get back to where I was but am struggling with the motivation, even though all my lovely work clothes are feeling painfully very tight at the moment.

codandchipstwice · 10/05/2014 08:27

Hello, please may I join?

Am in such a state that my list is:

1 brush, floss and mouthwash twice a day;

2 deforest legs at least weekly

3 body lotion after every shower

4 stop buggering about with skin, decide on a routine and give it at least a fortnight to give it a chance (poss ocm)

Right, off for a lie down at thought of that Shock
