Hello, welcome, take a seat and get comfy!

A few years ago I started a countdown to Christmas thread. This year it inspired a few follow on threads so now we're on our "Get set for Summer"

The basis of these threads is adopting 20 habits which make a difference but don't take too much time or effort. The habits come from previous threads but can be adapted to your own needs.

Sounds like a good plan kia !

I have been rather slack. Going on holiday on Wed and now have 6 weeks off to sort myself out!

Going to shower this evening, do legs, moisturise and maybe a face mask.

Pollywallywinkles · 13/07/2014 11:26

I'm going to have to review my diet as the weight is creeping on. Damn you peri menopause! I'm going to have to up my exercise as well.

My hair is due for a cut this week, I need to decide if I'm going to keep it short, or start to grow it again. I'm not sure at all.

ControlGeek · 13/07/2014 12:57

70 I had to chuckle at your jeans, I'm exactly the same! Might washing them help?

kia sorry you've been feeling rough, not ironing sounds like a good plan as does the early night. Your 'restful' weekend sounds anything but!

calling 6 weeks is plenty, you can do it! I have to say that, because I started to pull myself together when there were just 6 weeks to go, too!

polly oooh choices! I love a good hair conundrum. What are your pros and cons?

Well my 6 week plan is well under way, only I've now found out that it's more likely to be a five week plan as we'll probably have to go out to Spain up to a week earlier than originally thought. I've lost two inches off my waist so far, and have shed 5lb so far. I've been able to shred 3-4 times a week, but towards the end of the week I'm just too tired. I think it's the combination of low calorie and high exercise just basically wearing me out. I'm looking forward to how my 'after' bikini photos will look though - that's my main motivation right now! New clothes have also been purchased for the holiday, and I can't wait to wear them!

My nails are pretty much healthy again, but DP whinges so much about the smell when I try and put polish on that I've got out of the routine of doing that.

My braces are still really affecting my eating. I still can't even bite into a slice of bread! Oh well, at least that's helping with the weight too Grin

CallingAllEngels · 13/07/2014 13:38

My hair needs a cut as well. I still like having ti long so will just go for a trim but will do that post holiday.

Must start exercising properly again after holiday. Going to go swimming and book in the times like I do when I go running.

DH has had a health scare (diagnosed with type 2 diabetes) and so has started on mfp and going for a 20-30 minute walk at lunchtime with a colleague everyday. He's lost a kilo in a week!

CallingAllEngels · 13/07/2014 13:41

control you do have to be careful with low cal, high exercise. Could you up your fruit and veg and maybe some slow release like oats/porridge to give you a bit more oomph at the end of the week?

ControlGeek · 14/07/2014 06:54

calling sorry to hear about your DH's news, it's a shock when you're told something like that. My DP is 12 years into his diagnosis. It sounds like your DH is acting responsibly about it though.

I should probably clarify my low cal/high exercise comment - I actually meant in terms of what is normal for me! I used to take in an average of 3000-3500 calories per day, including the cals that alcohol provided. Mix that with a sedentary job and the outcome is inevitable. I'm not doing ADF/5:2 at the moment because I've subscribed to Hello Fresh boxes, so I'm getting a lovely healthy balanced meal in the evenings now rather than making bad choices because they are easy.

KiaOraOAotearoa · 19/07/2014 11:16

Hello ladies!
How are you coping with the heat? I must admit I am loving it! Long overdue!
My skin seems to love a bit of sun, it looks alright :)
My nails however, have been a bit neglected.
And my weight... keeps creeping up :(
I'll get back on the case though!
Hope you're all enjoying the summer!

Pollywallywinkles · 20/07/2014 17:17

My hair had a good cut, so it's still short. I've had long hair for most of my adult life and it feels strange short. However, everyone says that it suits me short and I look younger, so I will continue with it short for a while.

I've sorted my eating out by reducing the amount of carbs I am eating. Still having carbs for breakfast, none for lunch and I've reduced them on an evening and replaced them with more veg/salad.

My nails are terrible today after washing my car and gardening.

I am not a fan of the heat, although the cloud coverage has made things a bit more pleasant.

Pollywallywinkles · 18/08/2014 09:35

Its nearly a month since in last posted on here; is everyone fully renovated?

Karbea · 18/08/2014 13:20

Arrrr I was thinking about this thread last night.

I'm very un renovated, things have been pretty pants at home nothing I want to go into here, but I've zero money and doing loads of extra work at my glamorous job at tescos.

Last night I treated myself to a lovely bath, I scrubbed, did a face mask, hair mask, and put on body lotion, had a lovely peppermint tea and painted and cut my finger nails!

I had a dreadful nights sleep and woke up for work at 5:20, now I'm home!

Karbea · 18/08/2014 13:21

Oh and I meant to say I'm back in if you all are!

But I'm going to try and do the one small change a day thing.

No caffeine today, so no tea, coffee, coke, chocolate!

Pollywallywinkles · 18/08/2014 15:17

So nothing major then!

Helgathehairy · 18/08/2014 16:37

I was thinking of doing my annual Countdown to Christmas soon if people are interested. I generally start a "who's interested" thread at 120 days to go and then the thread kicks off at 100 days to go.

wanders off to find out how many days to Christmas

OP posts:
Karbea · 18/08/2014 16:43

Bit scared by how many days it might be...

Helgathehairy · 18/08/2014 20:18

It's 128 days to Christmas Day. I usually run the countdown to Christmas Eve so 127 days to go.

I've accidentally just had a chocolate bar :(

Blueandwhitelover · 19/08/2014 15:24

I've just found you again so I'll be in for the Christmas one. I've cleared out my wardrobe this morning, got a pile for the charity shop and a pile that I will try and ebay.
I'm off to Turkey in October and have a wedding the day before so am trying to lose 2 stones before that- following red days on Slimming World and going to the gym three times a week.
My amazing sons bought me a holiday voucher for my 50th so I am also off to Cyprus in February. I'd like to have another 2 stones off by then.
I also have shelves and shelves of Soap and Glory stuff, I must get into a routine of using it! I'm a TA so I'm off work at the moment and haven't bothered with makeup either.
Plus there is a distinct white stripe through my hair!
