Hello, welcome, take a seat and get comfy!

A few years ago I started a countdown to Christmas thread. This year it inspired a few follow on threads so now we're on our "Get set for Summer"

The basis of these threads is adopting 20 habits which make a difference but don't take too much time or effort. The habits come from previous threads but can be adapted to your own needs.

need to go and lie down body scrub now and do some Elastisicing now ( huuuge 1 litre bottle of it in my bathroom ) Grin

Helgathehairy · 04/05/2014 12:35

So I've body brushed, micro pedi'd my feet, conditioned my hair and put make up on. We're going to PIL for Sunday dinner.

Would love to join you ladies!

I look a mess right now- was off work for a month as I was poorly and I haven't had the time or energy to make an effort.

My skin is all dry and my face is broken out in lots of horrible red blotches! It's so painful that even putting my head on the pillow hurts.

My list is as follows:

  1. Drink as much water as possible to rehydrate my skin
  2. Vitamins and fish oils daily
  3. Carry on low sugar diet (feeling more energetic since doing this!)
  4. Body moisturise daily
  5. Pedicure at home weekly to get feet flip flop ready.
  6. Gentle exercise 3 times a week

I went to Boots today and got some really old fashioned skincare- cold cream to use as cleanser, Nivea cream to moisturise and vitamin E eye cream. I have loads of nice products at home but all of my usual creams are stinging and hurting my face so going back to bland!

Pollywallywinkles · 04/05/2014 17:30

Im just going to keep up with what I have been doing, paying particular attention to hands and nails and work on the exercise element which I have been failing miserably.

Pollywallywinkles · 04/05/2014 17:31

Now that. Summer is approaching I will add pedicures to the list.

lucysmam · 04/05/2014 18:48

It honestly hasn't taken me since last night to get dd2 to sleep Grin

Ok, so I need to re-start my Sunday night pamper sessions! Have to stock up on face/hair masks though next time I go to town.

I'll do the rest tonight though so; pumice feet, file toenails, checked brows for strays earlier, defuzz legs/underarms/top lip, moisturise all over, file fingernails, dry and straighten hair properly (need to book a trim).

As for day to day stuff; have been regularly taking vits, applying make-up, and making sure I look smart.

Have cleared out 10!!!!Shock bags of randomness over the past week for charity shop, plus more in bin & thoroughly spring cleaned from top to bottom. I've made myself a nice new list of things I'd like for the house too so will be aiming to get one thing a week.

(I also started Christmas shopping extremely early in a bid to not have much at all to do in December barring home made stuff and craft with the kids).

Nice to see so many of us back again, and new posters too Smile

I might be back to check in later on - supervising dp's brilliant idea of painting in the garden at this time atm Hmm

lisam78 · 04/05/2014 19:22

I would love to join you lovely ladies!

I have been trying to sort myself out for the last few months-exercising, trying to eat healthily, new skincare regime and some new makeup (thank goodness for boots 3 for 2! Grin). I have seen an improvement but Easter, and a teething child, have knocked me off course and I need to get back on it before I go back to work later this month.

Loving all the suggestions so far, keep them coming!

Dosey · 04/05/2014 19:34

I would like to join please. I will make an effort to check in everyday. On my list I am adding facial yoga. I have found a few on YouTube and I can really feel a difference after doing them. I just need to do them on a regular basis. I am 40 so I need all the help I can get.

TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 04/05/2014 20:00

Forlorn as someone who didnt even wash them selves properly due to major depression up to a few months ago, believe me, a list is important.

Im in. BUT. I am broke. I need a good list of products, not to break the bank, maybe a tenner or below on moisturiser serum etc.

I also need a fab eye cream, Im early thirties and have dark bags under my eyes and they always look puffy. I got contact lenses and once my eyes are up to it, I will be wearing them.

I am also saving for extensive dental work but that could take a while!

TheRealMaryMillington · 04/05/2014 20:15

I really need to jump on this bandwagon. I've been ill for a couple of months and started looking rough as a badgers...

  1. Drink loads of water
  2. Cut down on sugar
  3. Yoga x 2 per week
  4. Swimming x 2 per week
  5. Go to bed by 10 x 3 times per week
  6. Get a decent, really hydrating moisturiser (any recommendations?)
  7. 5:2. or A/F
  8. Chuck out all the clothes that are past it and mend/get dry cleaned the ones that need it. Get rid of anything that doesn't fit.
  9. Brave the dentist (may need hypnotherapy/sedation)
10. Start using that gradual tanning body but not before a few days of exfoliating like a bastard and thus avoid the orange leg 11. keep the fetlocks at bay somehow
TheRealMaryMillington · 04/05/2014 20:18

Vits is a good idea. Bought some, should remember to take them.
Remember to moisturise my neck as well as face
Might try a reiki session for some sort of restorative post-illness thing
Keep nails in good nick
Invest in a facial

KiaOraOAotearoa · 04/05/2014 20:39

I'm thinking....!

lucysmam · 04/05/2014 20:50

Love your nn TakeMe Grin

I use Wilko own brand body butter (£1.19 ish).

Superdrug Vit E day/night cream and eye cream (often on offer).

Poundshops sometimes have Herbal Essences hair masks in - can be a bit hit and miss as to whether they have them though.

Face mask sachets from Wilko or Home Bargains (last ones were 79p for two) or a tube of mud mask from Superdrug/Boots but lasts longer for the money.

Hair serum - Wilkos for a quid. Heat protection spray from Home Bargains 89p.

Vits with iron £1.29 from Lidl ones atm (for 60 tablets) but often Sainsbury's Basics on 3for2 so less than a quid for 90.

Hth a bit, am off to put the small one back to bed...again (they were meant to be watching Frozen but are just flouncing about up there Hmm )

JohnCusacksWife · 04/05/2014 21:05

Can I join in? Suddenly summer holidays don't seem so far away and I want to be in better shape than I am now. My list is -

  1. Start 5:2 again. Got some great results with this but have fallen off the wagon a bit recently so need to get back on before I undo all the good work.
  2. Drink more water
  3. Minimum 3 alcohol free days a week
  4. Get to bed by 10.30 at least 3 times a week
  5. Get my colours done (have this booked...so excited!)
  6. Get a decent haircut. Once I can work out what I want to do with my hair......
  7. Start using a gradual tanner
  8. 30 mins exercise 5 times a week. Again I was doing this religiously for a while and felt great then an injury put a stop to it and I've never really got back into the habit.
  9. Use my epilator a bit more regularly

Think that's probably enough to be going on with. Will weigh and photograph myself tomorrow and repeat weekly until we go on holiday (8weeks) hopefully that will keep me motivated!

TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 04/05/2014 21:08

Ah thanks Lucy!!
I got lipgloss once from Poundland (or Dealz as we call it here!) and came over in cold sores that I couldnt get rid of for months, they are constantly reoccurring! So am a bit wary of their stuff but will have a look at their hair stuff, cant go wrong there!

CallingAllEngels · 04/05/2014 21:14

Found you!

Be back tomorrow morning with my list.

lucysmam · 04/05/2014 21:31

Stick with branded stuff if you can in the poundshops! I buy two or three of the Herbal Essences intensive conditioners at a time when I see them, just because they're so bloody pricey elsewhere.

I take it you have Frozen fans too? I'm still baffled that my dd1 (7yo) doesn't get the connection between the snowman jumping over the puddle/becoming one in summer Grin Hmm

Doilooklikeatourist · 04/05/2014 21:55

I'm in ( again )
Have recently opened a new cafe , and am living on my nerves and cake ....
I'm too busy and nervous to eat properly , then starving by 4 pm eat cake then can't face dinner
This has to stop . So from tomorrow

Yoghurt and fruit for breakfast
Salad for lunch
Moisturise legs , heels and décolletage after shower
Wash condition and style hair
Wear makeup including red lipstick
8 glasses of water a day
Hand and nail cream before bed
3 or 4 alcohol free nights a week
Remember to take vitamin tabs ( I think I still have some from the Christmas countdown )
In bed by 10 one night a week

That's for starters

TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 04/05/2014 21:55

I AM the Frozen fan...

Hangs head in shame....

lucysmam · 04/05/2014 21:59

Grin really?

KiaOraOAotearoa · 04/05/2014 22:30

Oh, have you seen the marines singing Let it go? Sooo funny!

doilook, congratulations!!!!! It's such a fab thing to do! Give me a hint if you're nearby, I'll be a customer!

List.
Ladies, I took exercise seriously, so seriously I overdidid it for about 10 days. Feels good but it's not normal, so I needed to take a two days break. I need to have a think about it, I am addicted :)

I need to drink more water. So I will. I will buy a bottle for home as well. I had my eyes checked and even the ophto told me to drink more, my eyes are extremely dry!

I need to put some handcream in the car, by the kitchen and bathroom sink. Got one by the bed, I need one by my armchair too. And then I'll get eczema again Grin.

I am stopping with the vit D for 3 months, will continue with the zinc, evening primrose and cod oil capsules.

Dry body brushing daily.

Continue with my skincare routine, I am not sure if it is me stopping smoking or the Nuxe serum, but it looks soooo much better!!!!(it is the serum, the days I don't do it it reverts to mahoosive pores)

33 items summer wardrobe.

Weekly manicure and pedicure.

I'm going to do the abdo challenge (app), because I need it desperately!

Cut it back to two coffees a day, it's been creeping up !!!

Go to bed early two night a week with a book!

That's all I can think of now!

Welcome back and welcome to the renovators new ladies!

TwoNoisyBoys · 04/05/2014 22:34

Marking place then will read whole thread......this is JUST what I need Smile

Danceasifnooneswatching · 04/05/2014 22:37

I am in...just seen a photo Hmm 1 stone has to come off!!

Helgathehairy · 05/05/2014 09:30

Hello to all the new people!! Lovely to see a happy chatty helpful thread.

I double cleansed last night, I only bother doing it if I've worn make up that day. I got some face masks in TK Maxx last week by Bliss. Think they've discontinued them "No Zit Sherlock". I paid €10 for them, they're €45 online!

I have a shopping list ready for Sephora and the drugstore in New York! Crest White strips are at the top and then lots of Sephora bits.

Am still sitting in my dressing gown this morning though.
