Helgathehairy · 02/05/2014 14:30

Hello, welcome, take a seat and get comfy!

A few years ago I started a countdown to Christmas thread. This year it inspired a few follow on threads so now we're on our "Get set for Summer"

The basis of these threads is adopting 20 habits which make a difference but don't take too much time or effort. The habits come from previous threads but can be adapted to your own needs.

Im going to sit down an do a realistic list in a minute and stick to it! It needs planning though and I am so bloody disorganised!

CallingAllEngels · 05/05/2014 09:47

Don't know if any of the Renovators recognise me. I hopped on tbe Christmas countdown when dealing with my last mc and was on the Easter Renovation Thread.

I am now pg Smile so will have to tailor my list.

  1. Drink more water
  2. Cleanse, tone, moisturise every morning and night - I'm so knackered, I'm getting slack in the evening.
  3. Blow dry hair
  4. Wear make up
  5. Lay out clothes the night before - and wear the lovely clothes I have for as long as they fit me!
  6. Try to eatmore fruit and veg (hard right now as my body is craving salty rubbish!)
  7. Exercise - have stopped running but need to start walks and swimming
  8. Moisturise after shower
  9. Weekly foot soak, face mask - lucy's Sunday night papmpering sounds good!
10. Floss
KiaOraOAotearoa · 05/05/2014 10:13

Hoi allengels, I recognize you, of course! Congratulations on your pregnancy!:)

lucysmam · 05/05/2014 10:25

Good morning all Smile

Still in pj's here too Helga...might think about getting dressed shortly. Need to make a model with dd1 today Confused

Calling congratulations on your pg!

I forgot to put my pumice stone in the bathroom last night so missed my feet but will do them tonight.

TakeMe I forgot to list my exfoliating facewash in the list I wrote last night, it's 98p in wilko's & my skin looks a treat using it on an evening - will have a look what it's actually called next time I go upstairs.

Planning a fairly relaxed day today & a mooch round lidl later for packed lunch bits so will be minimal makeup & hair tied up neatly (it looks worse than Wurzel Gummidge's this morning Hmm ) to go out with.

Huntzberger · 05/05/2014 10:29

TakeMe, I also really recommend the Superdrug own brand stuff - it's often half price so you can stock up for not too much. The Vit E range is nice, and I love the Simply Pure serums, if they're still available. If you have spots or open pores Clearasil Rapid Action pads (the ones with metallic-y label) are brilliant, and often half price at Superdrug.

Haven't done much yet as a family member passed away on Saturday, so have been subsisting on fish finger sandwiches and wine. The Asda man is coming today though, with vitamins and proper food.

So looking forward to feeling (and looking) better soon!

ControlGeek · 05/05/2014 10:33

Congratulations Calling!

Ok, so I'm remembering my vits. I failed on the flossing and mouthwashing, I'm doing ok(ish) with the 5:2 but just can't get motivated to shred. I'm back at work tomorrow so would really like to get back in the habit of getting up at 6am and exercising then. At the moment my nighttime routine is crushing any hope of it - late night dvds accompanied by wine/beer and toast. Yup, this is going well :)

Helgathehairy · 05/05/2014 11:41

calling congratulations! With the pregnancy you should hopefully have great skin and hair with no effort!

takeme are you in ROI? Just asking as we have Dealz over here.

Body brushed, showered etc STILL in dressing gown!

Huntz sorry to hear about your family member. When my aunt died I lived off ham sandwiches for days

Neonbabyblue · 05/05/2014 16:14

Congratulations calling

Sorry to hear about the bereavement huntz

Quite a successful day here, did my first gym visit (sweaty but worth it!)

Last night I had a bath then gave myself a pedicure (my feet were like rhino feet!) and then put lots of body moisturiser on.

My face isn't as sore today- good old Nivea cream is fixing me! Never using Clinique cleanser or eye cream again!

Have taken my vitamins, need to drink some more water though as it's been really hot out here today so I am probably a bit dehydrated.

Hope everyone is having a nice bank holiday!

Doilooklikeatourist · 05/05/2014 20:13

KiaOra cafe is in rural Wales .

Managed the healthy eating ( until a slice of carrot cake accidentally was eaten )
Absolutely shattered so planning early to bed slathered from head to toe in body lotion
Need to rearrange beaut salon appointment and paint my toenails tomorrow
Decluttered the bathroom ( so many half used bottles of stuff ) and now know what I need want to buy

PolkadotRosa · 05/05/2014 20:34

Hello everyone. I'd love to join in. Need to be more disciplined getting myself prepped for our holiday, so this thread is great! Going to have a read of the previous threads and think about my list / goals.

CallingAllEngels · 05/05/2014 20:43

doilook I think carrot cake counts as healthy eating Grin

Not too bad for 1st day : flossed, c/t/m, body mois after shower, spent 3 hours walking round the zoo, laid out lovely outfit for tomorrow and wore minimal make up today.

Didn't blow dry hair after shower, had takeaway for dinner, hardly ate any fruit or veg and managed a few glasses of water but could do better.

onwards!

KiaOraOAotearoa · 05/05/2014 21:06

doILook, I am really far from Wales! :( Do you have books in your cafe? That people can take/leave?
huntz, sorry for your loss!
polkadot, welcome!
neon, fab about the gym! What's wrong with clinique eye cream? It's the only one I use, it is fab(for me).
control, we can do it 'together', I start at 6 am too!

Pollywallywinkles · 05/05/2014 21:17

Congratulations Calling.

ginorwine · 05/05/2014 21:49

Forlorn do you have re omendation for face oil please. ?

storynanny2 · 05/05/2014 22:07

Am I allowed to join, I am 57?
I am going to moisturise my scaly shins every day of the year, not just for a few weeks in the summer, then cant put fake tan on my white legs as it sits in the scaly bits.
Moisturise my hands at least twice a day as they are getting a bit old lady looking.
Not put back on the stone I have struggled to lose since ds3 was born 22 years ago.
To practice my mantra of " wear your best things everyday because it is silly saving them for "best".
Get my bike out more often.

ControlGeek · 06/05/2014 05:16

So much for my early night - went to bed half ten, but haven't been able to sleep a wink Hmm Gave up about an hour ago and got up. Can't see me shredding this morning tbh, it'll be all I can do to get through the day without falling asleep at my desk.

story It's amazing how many people on the previous threads all said the same thing about not saving stuff up for 'best' - every day is now best!

doilook oooh north or south? I have family at both ends...

lucysmam · 06/05/2014 08:43

Just a quicky...must add washing make up brushes to my Sunday list!

(on school run, check in properly later Smile )

Have a nice day all.

lisam78 · 06/05/2014 09:19

Morning all!

Feeling very virtuous as I sit and drink my hot water and lemon Smile

Going well so far, double cleansed and used a face mask on Sunday, as well as doing my nails. Although they were chipped to bits by the end of the day, as I spring cleaned the house and washed all the windows. I did go to my exercise class though, and used coconut oil as a body moisturiser after showering (first time I have ever used it, smells nice, will let you know if I notice a difference).

Other points to add to the list would be:

  1. Use an SPF daily - even if your moisturiser/foundation has it in.
  2. Try facial massage-I found one on YouTube and it was fairly easy to do on myself, I will try to do this a few nights a week
  3. Use a nude eyeliner on the bottom waterline to brighten my eyes when I haven't had enough sleep.
  4. Walk more
  5. Wash make up brushes weekly.
  6. Must try dry body brushing

Have a good day ladies Wine

JohnCusacksWife · 06/05/2014 19:45

Progress so far....took the DDs swimming yesterday so de-fuzzed my legs, slathered on some gradual tanner and painted my toenails. More tanner today so hopefully my legs should start to look a bit more presentable soon.

6km walk this morning and 5:2ing today too (starving Grin).

I've made a chart with all my daily goals listed and am ticking them off each day in an attempt to keep me focused. I'm partial to a good spreadsheet, what can I say....!!

Just went to lay out my work clothes for tomorrow and I've realised that I don't have much spring/summer workwear. Really need to get a few new pieces but really grudge spending the money on work stuff.

Neonbabyblue · 06/05/2014 22:47

KiaOra I used the Clinique eye cream and had some weird type of reaction too it! It's literally burnt my eye area, which has gone through the spectrum from red to crusty to flaky (sorry tmi!) really strange as I have never reacted to any facial products before!

Successful day here even though DD was throwing up constantly

Drank loads of water, did MFP and stuck to my calories, vitamins taken, body moisturised, foot cream applied (and now wearing cotton socks in bed to help it soak in) and best of all I did 30 minutes in the gym, after which time I was a sweaty mess truthfully I was a sweaty mess after about 5 minutes

When DD had her nap I also packed all my winter clothes away into under bed storage and took all my summer stuff out- made me feel very cheerful!

Fideline987654321 · 06/05/2014 22:54

I'm in. Bit worried a demolition and rebuild would be more appropriate though Sad

cardamomginger · 06/05/2014 23:57

Evening all. I'm in! Was doing really well earlier in the year, but have let things slip after I had surgery in March, when I succumbed to the 'I just can't be arsed any more' school of thought Grin.

I'm pretty good with nails, skincare, body moisturising and hair. Want to get back into make up and perfume every day and eating more healthily. Things went to pot a bit over the last 2 months and I'm feeling it! Have started doing yoga and dance again, and hope to get back to the gym next week. Also want to make more of an effort with clothes. For too long I have worn what feels like the same 3 things. I have lots of really nice stuff and nice accessories, but I never wear it. Going to make some time next week to sort swap over wardrobe and sort through summer clothes.

cardamomginger · 07/05/2014 08:23

Not got off to the best start with 2 cups of coffee this morning (decaff and soya milk make it any better??). BUT I am off to Bikram yoga later and have decided NO ALCOHOL except at weekends.

Helgathehairy · 07/05/2014 09:10

Hello to the new people!

The weather here has gone rubbish - I was back in my winter coat yesterday! The forecast for when we're away seems a bit hit and miss - thunderstorms are being mentioned!

As a result I have no idea what to wear on the flight! I was going maxi skirt, fit flops (with support socks being put on during the flight) and a top but I could be flying from cold and raining to warmer but raining!
