Hello, welcome, take a seat and get comfy!

A few years ago I started a countdown to Christmas thread. This year it inspired a few follow on threads so now we're on our "Get set for Summer"

The basis of these threads is adopting 20 habits which make a difference but don't take too much time or effort. The habits come from previous threads but can be adapted to your own needs.

One final thing...

When you are at home what do you wear? I seem to be slipping into pj bottoms more and more frequently :/

ControlGeek · 23/05/2014 19:42

Oh no lucysmam Not again :(

cardamom I think you may have found the cause of my problems - I use nail nurse base coat religiously, and conditioning hardeners, but never gave a thought to my remover! Turns out it's got next to nothing in it to protect the nail, and is stated to 'remove even the most stubborn nail varnish' so I'm assuming it's been stripping the goodness from the nail too. I'll change it pronto.

karbea those wedges and top will look amazing on you! You shouldn't have too much of a problem getting into town on the heels, they're pretty low but will probably feel a bit high to start with since you're used to flatties. I wear 2inch heels generally, and wore ballet pumps to work the other day. My calves went on strike and I ended up with cramp like aches for two days afterwards!

Hair has been washed and intensively conditioned, heat protected, l'oreal oiled, dried, straightened and is looking goooood! Will run the straighteners over them again tomorrow before going to the hair dresser, but to be honest I'm amazed at how lovely and straight the trim-line is from last time still. It's growing really quickly!

Two weeks and three days until B-day (braces day), I can't wait!

CallingAllEngels · 23/05/2014 20:04

Haven't been keeping up. 1st trimester tiredness is wiping me out. None of my clothes fit me, but am now past the craving shit phase and want to eat veg, fruit and drink lots of water, juice and herbal tea.

had yummy couscous with roast veg for dinner so feeling virrtuous.

am conditioning hair regularly, but body mois is only every few days and face mask not making it out of the tube.

and on that note...I'm going to bed!

CallingAllEngels · 23/05/2014 20:06

Have requested to join fb (running profile pic).

seasalty50 · 23/05/2014 20:19

karbea I invested in 2 pairs of linen trousers from M and Co. Black and navy. Super comfy, stylish (for me) and don't seem to crease or bag. £20 a pop.

Love this new look for 'at home' my jeans are too tight to relax in and tracksuit bottoms make me feel bad .

seasalty50 · 23/05/2014 20:20

I need a hair treatment, fine and coloured and at the stage where the top layer seems to 'lift from the rest it's so fluffy/dry.

Have booked a much needed cut tomorrow with a new salon. Feel sick already!! I hate the hairdressers :(

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/05/2014 21:14

Karbea I got some "Turbie Twist" hair towels from QVC ( they are £20 + £4 p&p for four of the wraps)
100% cotton, I love them
I can't get on with microfibre , I always feel I need to squeegee the water off my skin. If I use microfibre wraps, my hair just sits in a sodden heap . (Not that I have much to dry now, gone for a Pixie Grin , but when I did have longer hair they were good)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/05/2014 21:16

"Turbie Twist" good not microfibre I mean.
I keep an old black microfibre for doing hair treatments ,

lucysmam · 23/05/2014 21:59

Ok so I couldn't stay away!!

70 I agree about the microfibre turbans, I have a couple that the kids have pinched but went back to a towel on my head because it worked better.

Whoever asked about what we wear at home, I like my pj's or linen trousers when it's warm..nothing wrong with pj's if no one will see you imo!

Control yes again unfortunately, they didn't just send me away with flycloxacillin this time though, they took a swab to see if they can find where it's coming from since the girls haven't brought it home with them.

I'm looking forward to my Sunday pamper and haircut next week! Am in need of them!

Helgathehairy · 23/05/2014 22:43

Just a quick pop in (DD STILL not asleep!)

I have a soap & glory microfiber and I find it brilliant. It's expensive (€10) in boots but I find it so much better than cheaper ones. It actually gives me curls!

lucysmam · 23/05/2014 22:55

Maybe it's just the cheap ones are no good then Helga.

flycloxacillin = flucloxacillin btw!

Marking place, 1 stone and 3 lbs down since Xmas, mascara worn every day, slowly but surely I am improving!

ControlGeek · 24/05/2014 09:17

lucysmam that is so pants for you Sad I'm glad the dr is going to do a proper investigation now though. I hope you get it sorted pronto.

Blueandwhite well done on the weight loss, that is brilliant! Good to see you back here, too.

What's a microfibre?

ControlGeek · 24/05/2014 09:20

D'oh! Meant to also add, teeth brushed, flossed and mouthwashed, teeth also blanx'd. Full Anew range used on face, and Aldi's wrinklestop added to try and smooth out the landscape. Nails are varnished ready for going down to see DP's son. Hair still looks good from last night's straightening, but going to run the iron over it again as I've got the hair dresser at 10am. I can't remember who asked (sorry!) but yes, it was me with the extreme fear of going to the hairdresser on one of the earlier threads. I can't believe I'm actually going regularly now!

seasalty50 · 24/05/2014 16:18

Pleased with my hair! Hardly any taken off but it al blends in properly now instead of being all pouffy :)

Showered, made-up and in jeans and a Breton. Painted toenails with a shoutyloud pink and fingers with nail envy.

Looking good!

Helgathehairy · 24/05/2014 19:01

So bits are going well and bits aren't. My water intake has improved a lot, I'm using mouthwash and flossing.

My best New York buy is this stuff it's doing amazing things for my hair. It de-frizzed it, it smooths it, it makes it less oily - it's amazing. I really regret not getting the shampoo and conditioner as well.

Other great buy was this stuff it's great even on days I'm not wearing make up

Have stayed off the coke as well.

So just need to work better on my diet. I'm going to start doing the shred some evenings next week (or I might wait till June - new month new start and all that!)

Bit of a non-glam day for me: took DD to a 'forest adventure' party. It was good but she refused to walk AT ALL, it rained the whole time and DD managed to cover herself in wee. At least the walking/carrying must have burned a few calories.

I'm doing well with the teeth, skincare and vitamins but keep forgetting the water and to bump up the fruit & veg.

I'm planning a mini pamper session for Sunday. I have a face pack I've never tried so I'll do that and paint finger/toenails. I might do a sort through my makeup as well. I keep using the same stuff but I know I've got some nice eyeshadows somewhere buried under all the crap!

cardamomginger · 24/05/2014 20:43

Been a bit of a knackering and non-glam few days here. DD has had a UTI and a stomach bug. So when she's not been wetting herself, she's been throwing up, and when she's not been doing either of those, she's been on the loo. I have just about metaphorically been drowning in various noxious bodily fluids and laundry.

On the plus side I have put away my winter clothes (although I am wondering the wisdom of that as we have just had a thunderstorm) and I am sorting through and ironing my summer stuff. Much is still grim, but there are a few bits that still work and make me look OK. And I kept both the dark and light versions of the Banana Republic chambray shirt dress I was brainwashed inspired to order from another thread. Wore the dark version with black opaque tights and black loafers today.

Off to stick another load of washing in Sad.

cardamomginger · 24/05/2014 20:45

control - hope that's the answer to your nail problems! Might take a while for it to all grow out, mind.

Pollywallywinkles · 24/05/2014 22:26

I've nearly got the exercise cracked, still need to get into a better routine for my hands and nails which have gone dire since I reached peri menopause.

I tend to use Sundays as a pamper morning, but may miss out tomorrow as I have half committed to walking the golf course in the morning with DH.

Today I'm going to soak, buff, mois my feet and put some polish on.
Clear polish for hands.
Face pack.
Overnight conditioner for hair.

I really need to sort out my wardrobe and pack away/move to the back all the stuff that is not going to fit me during pg, and get my maternity stuff down from loft (don't need it yet but want to have it handy).

Pollywallywinkles · 25/05/2014 12:20

I slept in so missed walking the golf course.

I've managed a face pack, exfoliation of face and body and dry body brushing as well as moisturising after shower.

One of my nails has broken right into the nail bed, so I won't be putting on the orange polish that I had planned.

Roots will be done tonight.
