It's a fluted skirt.

I also got these shorts and also in white for my holiday.

libertychick · 04/04/2014 22:56

I think that will suit you Novice - it's not a full on skater style. Skirt and shorts are both lovely.

I have just ordered this White Company dress. Decam the 20% off code worked Thanks. I tried it on today and it's a great fit - one of those instant 'I love it things'.

That said, I tried on a few things today and liked them all and then I remembered the article Shop linked from the Stylist about the effect of hormones on shopping. I am ovulating about now so potentially in a week or so I'll wonder why I thought it was so flattering Smile

BrandyAlexander · 04/04/2014 23:18

Oh that's lovely and simple Lib, really nice.

Drywhiteplease · 04/04/2014 23:47

Hope your head is not sore today, Dry!

Lovely dress, Liberty. What size did you go for? I saw a few things I liked in White Co last weekend but they didn't have that dress in the store.

MarshaBrady · 05/04/2014 10:23

Sleep I took back the SR pencil skirt and acne top to Liberty. It was a moment of complete madness. I really don't need a £300+ outfit for work. Much prefer to spend on every day stuff or going out to lunch stuff. Things I enjoy infinitely more.

Liberty love the dress and Novice your skirt and great shorts.

Justa I completely agree about bleurgh madam I know it's irrational, but I do loathe it.

MarshaBrady · 05/04/2014 10:25

Blair that dress is gorgeous. I can imagine with a clutch, so chic.

Turq how annoying. Asos is good, but returns take ages. the outnet is still the best for fast tracking. And NaP probably, but it's been a while!

Ujjayi · 05/04/2014 10:56

Dry love the styling of the pencil skirt in your pin. I cannot abide polyester so am constantly searching for natural fibres - getting all too elusive on the high street.

Turq your issues with AR must be frustrating. I'm sure I have seen other people complaining about them on here. Wasn't there a rumour they were closing?

One hope you enjoyed your curry and company Smile

Blair very chic dress. And agree with Marsha that a clutch and strappy heels (preferably in brights) would be the way to go.

Speaking of clutch bags...I now have serious clutch envy with all these lovely links.

Novice the cut of those shorts looks very flattering. I always think shorts are a no-no for me but actually they look very wearable. Too often they are cut way too long.

Liberty very pretty simple dress. I like pieces like that - slip on a bright silver pendant and flat leather sandals and you're dressed!

I'm packing away heavier winter layers today and pulling out a few spring bits. It's a task I really look forward to but just know that I will get sidetracked with trying out new outfit combinations. I also resent all the washing that goes along with it. Obviously, everything is washed and ironed before being vacuum-packed but I have to do it again when they are unpacked...it's an OCD thing!

I'm also planning on a run and/or workout (using Jillian's Killer Buns & Thighs at the moment). I started using FitnessPal (or some such) a week ago. I have been so good with diet this week but then tanked last night with a Kettle Chip & Wine fest with DH. It was very depressing to log those on the app Blush.

Have a great weekend everyone!

MarshaBrady · 05/04/2014 11:00

Yes bright clutch etc, perfect.

Ujjayi · 05/04/2014 11:00

BTW, did anyone see Jess C-M in the Guardian Weekend magazine today? I actually quite like socks with heels but her take on it is just wrong. It's like DH socks with pretty shoes. Erm, no.

MarshaBrady · 05/04/2014 11:01

lol exactly they're not meant to look like your dh's socks!

OneLittleLady · 05/04/2014 12:55

afternoon all. Curry was delicious, I make a great chicken and spinach curry, even if I do say so myself! I can actually cook a little now I've got my perching stool for the kitchen, means I don't exhausted trying to stand and prepare/cook things.

Weather is miserable here today, grey and rainy. Today's outfit will horrify many but I love it : black denim mini skirt, burgundy tights, Marvel Comic T-shirt and long line black cardi. I don't think I'll ever be close to fashionable! Grin

Drywhiteplease · 05/04/2014 16:03

Ankle socks with heels.....bloody hell, can you imagine me Shock Grin

I think this works

and here again

okay, she is something of a secret girl crush of mine

this works too

I think this shows the trend should perhaps be the preserve of younger women!

libertychick · 05/04/2014 17:06

Decam I went for the dress in a medium and it was perfect, you know that 'feels loose but looks fitted enough to be smart' thing IYKWIM.

I would look like a complete dork in socks and sandals - I share your girl crush Ujjayi Smile

One my DH makes a delicious chicken and spinach curry too - yum.

No fashion news today - I stocked up on M&S tights for work boring but necessary

libertychick · 05/04/2014 17:21

BTW One I like the sound of your outfit - I can picture you in it and it's totally you! Sod fashion, personal style is much more important Smile

MarshaBrady · 05/04/2014 17:26

My lol was at that pic, she's chosen the wrong socks.

I always really like fashion shoots with socks and did it a few times in early twenties. Definitely best left to the young.

Actually no! I just remembered a friend wears long socks, and honestly it really suits her vintage style. Worn with pedal pushers and wedges. I'd look crazy in it, but she looks really good.

MarshaBrady · 05/04/2014 17:27

One you sound happy, and I know you have a lot to deal with, so that shines out in your post. Your outfit reflects that too, sounds great.

Ujjayi · 05/04/2014 17:29

I reckon Jess C-M thought she was rocking a Prada-esque ugly-pretty vibe. She wasn't. Grin

MarshaBrady · 05/04/2014 17:32

They just really remind me of the socks dh gets from Sainsbury's Grin. Yes to Prada and Miu Miu. Will see if I can find a pic of what I like.

Sleepwhenidie · 05/04/2014 17:56

Sorry, I don't get the socks and heels thing, the very young and skinny legged can just about pull it off but I still don't think it's a great look.

Anyone seen Laura Craik's piece on white trousers in Times mag today? Some nice ones, definitely a classy look.

Blair and Lib gorgeous dresses, very chic. Love that clutch too Blair

Dry how are you doing today Grin?

Drywhiteplease · 05/04/2014 17:57

Bloody hell....sock with heels, can you imagine, totally not me Grin Grin

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 05/04/2014 18:01

I used to do black socks with black lace up ankle boots, bleached hair and smudged eyes (grunge-light Grin) in early 20s

And I think I did something flat with argyle once - which went down a storm at work Wink mid 20s.

But I don't think I ever did heels with socks.

santamarianovella · 05/04/2014 18:15

No no no! I could never do that! It reminds me of prada SS 09, all the models were wearing socks with heels, lots of them tripped and some fell,Scott Schuman helped one of them here, it looks really painful!

MarshaBrady · 05/04/2014 18:18

Ouch at that, looks painful

I once saw a Dior pic on pin of models feet looking purple and yellow from bruising, I couldn't believe it was real.
