Come and join us for friendly fashion chat. Some of our glasses are empty because we're trying to loose weight, but were still happy, non judgemental, flippant and welcoming lot. We love new visitors (ESP Shop who will hug you)

Talking about polyester kind of Will I ever find a cotton summer dress for hot holidays? Is it too early? Or is it impossible ?

My sisters know why I changed my name on Pinterest but that's it. DP doesn't know but I'll try to explain if I ever go to a meet up. He met up with some people from an online trials biking "fellowship" earlier this year so shouldn't find it weird!

Liberty I think I'd have to send the sweatshirt back, what a shame. I think it would be too hot for layering. On the plus side though I assume it can just be bunged in the machine unlike my recently purchased "dry clean only" j brand cotton one!! (Yeah right)

Love the first top.

shopafrolic · 27/03/2014 21:29

My DH knows who you all are and when we meet but I met him online so he can't really tell me off for meeting strangers.
Loads of my friends know I'm on MN and on S&B. If they thought about it they could figure it out because some of them are linked to me on Pin but I'm not fussed anyway. I'm really not that interesting, they'd probably find it hilarious as they know how shit I can look! I think they are bemused that we all get on so well but nothing worse than that.
One of Sleep's friends on FB knows my closest friend from school days. V small world.

shopafrolic · 27/03/2014 21:30

Liberty I have a couple of man made fibre sweatshirts from Whistles - a green and a grey one and they are fine (and I usually suffer!)

MarshaBrady · 27/03/2014 21:38

Liberty it's really lovely so it's a shame to send it back, but I think it would by me and make me feel uncomfortable.

My friends don't know, dh does and my family. I've been to a few mners (well used to be) parties and it's funny when people ask how you know each other. I'm usually vague just in case for them. Had a funny thing with a client once when they said they read S&B all the time.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/03/2014 21:39

Dry I have been on the lookout! They have some at Zara but they are various patterns and styles, no basic ones. Also Dorothy Perkins, but all quite short and beachy. Like this

I think you will either get a short dress in quite thin cotton for the beach (low end high street) or it will be nice and a proper style (designer) but in between (say topshop to whistles) it's like a needle in a haystack.

I love this See by Chloe one which illustrates my point perfectly!

libertychick · 27/03/2014 21:42

Dry cotton summer dresses are hard to find. This Allium B one is quite nice and Chinti and Parker do lovely cotton dresses but they are ££.

I'm going to think about the sweater over the weekend and try it with different things. It's such a good shape.

shopafrolic · 27/03/2014 21:42

novice have you seen all the Atwoods on the Outnet?

shopafrolic · 27/03/2014 21:43

kaftan Dry?

shopafrolic · 27/03/2014 21:46

Gorgeous Erdem anyone?

libertychick · 27/03/2014 21:49

Dry what about this Seasalt one? Most of their stuff is a bit frumpy but I think this one has potential?

libertychick · 27/03/2014 21:50

That is really lovely Shop.

BrandyAlexander · 27/03/2014 21:58

OMG shop! I am shattered but that perked me up!

Drywhiteplease · 27/03/2014 22:06

Oh stop it shop! Grin heart stopped for a second! that's such a lovely dress.
Liberty think the AB is lovely, but agree, a bit £££ although could do for work too. The Seasalt is not me at all, sorry. The DP ones blair are pretty. shop the kaftan is gorgeous.
I saw a lovely silk one in FC sale but it's disappeared.
People Tree have a lot of cotton, but they're not holiday enough iykwim. I'll keep searching....have until August.

here but not entirely convinced

libertychick · 27/03/2014 23:09

Yes I wasn't sure about the seasalt one!
Not sure either about the FC one - but I'm not keen on dipped hems. Why is a cotton dress so difficult?

LinusDKD · 28/03/2014 07:34

Morning!

queenc what a great question!

Apart from DH nobody I have told nobody I am on MNV. I just don't have anyone IRL who I can talk to about fashion (apart from DM but our styles are very different and our budgets as well).

dry I can always do with more cotton summer dresses but they are hard to find. I really like the Hush breton one I bought as the cut is very flattering so I wish they did it in more colours.

Today I am wearing my Jimmies, a white ls Splendid tee and my J Crew Leopard print flats. The weather seems to be getting better again even though the mornings are still pretty nippy.

Maybe I'll start getting out my S/S stuff this weekend to see what I still need instead of what I want.

I have already bought lots of sl tees in the sales as my old tees are too big now and will be worn in bed from now on.

I will probably need some bottoms and maybe I'll even try shorts this year now I have lost some weight. Although my pear shape might not agree!

LinusDKD · 28/03/2014 07:41

this is quite nice to wear on holiday.

LinusDKD · 28/03/2014 08:08

broderie anglaise and cotton!

LinusDKD · 28/03/2014 08:09

floral cotton

LinusDKD · 28/03/2014 08:17

Just popped on my Hush knitted jacket to go out. I love it! Lightweight and a bit colourful. Hope it's warm enough though.

Umlauf · 28/03/2014 09:29

Dry what about this indi and cold one, very pretty.

part polyester though but love this jaeger boutique

this antropologie is stunning, (is viscose a natural fabric? Blush

beautiful but ££

this is lovely again, viscose.

I do think that there will be more cotton in the shops nearer the summer. When's the holiday? Most of my honeymoon cotton dresses were from people tree, french connection and topshop boutique.

I've just ordered this jaeger boutique for the spring/autumn. I love all things nautical.

Umlauf · 28/03/2014 09:39

trollied dolly do cheap 100% cotton dresses, I have one and it is lovely. I'm put off by their website, but the dresses themselves are really nice!

I also forgot about Fever for cotton dresses they have lots of designs too.

Emily and Fin although it doesn't actually say what it is made of!

lovely tropical print

QueenCadbury · 28/03/2014 10:23

fatface always have cotton dresses although I appreciate they're not to everyone's taste. Monsoon often have some too.

shopafrolic · 28/03/2014 10:32
