Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

Looked at both.

I like this but it only comes in navy and chestnut.

And www.radley.co.uk/grosvenor-large-shoulder-bag-16483/this but it is over budget and the wrong colours. I do have a purple cross body grosvenor which is more a summer rather than a winter shade.

ThePerfectNegroni · 30/07/2014 15:08

Queen- beautiful colour, but yes, too tote like. I don't want everybody to be able to see into my handbag!

ThePerfectNegroni · 30/07/2014 15:11

Like both versions of this but it's got blooming gold hard wear and isn't in the uk yet.

MrPop · 30/07/2014 15:12

How about this in green Carrie? Then again I seem to keep getting green wrong, and going too light.

SorrelForbes · 30/07/2014 15:12

I love that Pinterest look QueenCardigan. Alas that style of top is too slouchy for me but I wear that type of trousers/heels combo. I wish my thighs were that slim though!

What colour did you order in the Esprit top?

ThePerfectNegroni Did you try that Etsy site I linked to (might have been on an earlier Winter thread)? I bought a charcoal grey leather hobo bag with silver hardware for £125. It's lovely.

carrie74 · 30/07/2014 15:15

[sigh] That VW dress is so beautiful QueenC.

I do like that kind of look, but don't feel I carry it off well - I'm not sure why, but I do seem to end up with more fitted clothes more of the time.

Perfect, I'm sure you have but John Lewis any good?

ThePerfectNegroni · 30/07/2014 15:15

Sorrel- i do remember the shop- I looked it up yesterday! I remember messaging the guy at the time to see if he had a shop (he's based in manchester like me) and he said no, but I could come to his studio. I don't know why but I felt uncomfortable at the thought of going on my own. How's your bag held up? Do you use it much?

SorrelForbes · 30/07/2014 15:21

I use it all the time (when I'm wearing something that clashes with my fuchsia Coach bag!) and it looks as good as new. I would definitely order from him again.

carrie74 · 30/07/2014 15:21

Thanks MrPop, I've looked at that top (or the jumper version) several times, and I can't work out if it's the right green or not either. I tried on the jumper version a few months ago and liked it, but not enough to buy. Is it special enough for night out (but casual night out lol!)?

Am dashing into town after work tonight so may do a smash and grab at wherever's open. I've not looked in real shops in such a long time...

Stokey · 30/07/2014 15:25

Gorgeous Viv dress QueenC

Perfect I don't know this brand but this bag looks similar to what you're after. I really like this Kate Spade one too but a little over budget.

Carrie I just had my birthday and wore a red dress - predictable. This Zara tunic is a gorgeous green but may be a bit unstructured?

Stokey · 30/07/2014 15:40

oh I meant to say I bought the black version of the & Other Stories dress - don't think that orange is really our colour despite loving it!

ThePerfectNegroni · 30/07/2014 18:25

Stokey- thanks for the Kate Spade recommendations. The two you linked are a bit too structured for me. I love this one although it's over budget and has gold hard wear. I love the marc jacobs hobos, but again, over budget and with brass.

Stokey · 30/07/2014 19:01

I thought about the Marc Jacobs but wasn't sure it had a zip. I got the MBMJ Natasha as a birthday present in aluminium and love it, despite the brass. They're very good quality and not too prohibitive if you can get them in the sales.

ThePerfectNegroni · 30/07/2014 19:26

The MBMJ are quite heavy though, aren't they?
Sorrel how sturdy is your etsy bag? I want one that's sturdy but not heavy. How does the Etsy one mark? Does the leather scratch easily?

fooogle · 30/07/2014 20:22

Thanks (can't remember who!) for the glamour magazine tip off. Finally got a chubby stick in strawberry something after weeks if them only having the Clinique cleanser ones attached in my local shop!

Not many real world shop buys. Charity shop black t with roll sleeves and and zebra print... Totally off winter floral vintage dress Hmm but couldn't resist. Also a black cardi with cut out areas (£1 rail, who can resist...)
Got two grey becksondergaard scarves from asos which are good mid greys and my nyx absolute red is a good Kind of Snow White red?
carrie we don't go out much either but if I do it's still usually skinnies... Would like to be more glam!
perfect... Handbags a minefield! Have two Francisco bascia ones I like (brown though..!.) found in tk maxx

ThePerfectNegroni · 30/07/2014 20:36

Garhhhhh! I know it's double my budget but I want it!

QueenCardigan · 30/07/2014 21:20

Can you sell a child or a kidney to fund it perfect Grin?

carrie74 · 30/07/2014 21:34

So I went to the shops and bought this in white:

www.zara.com/uk/en/collection-aw14/woman/shirts/flowy-v-neck-blouse-c269186p2075019.html

Looked v nice with black cigarette pants but will probs wear with skinnies.

Also tried a gorgeous Audrey-esque black dress, but it was quite poorly finished and too flammable for me. I'll see if I can find it online as it was a lovely shape.

carrie74 · 30/07/2014 21:35

Lovely bag perfect. V Anya H. An investment? [ enabler]

ThePerfectNegroni · 30/07/2014 22:06

Carrie- great buys! I've realised black isn't great against my face but they are both great buys.

Queen and Carrie- I know, it is very Anya H- although I wonder if it is too much like hers. As for selling stuff- I only have one child and nobody would want my kidneys! We are buying a new house so can't justify the full cost.

SorrelForbes · 30/07/2014 22:07

My Etsy bag is very light but seems durable so far. It doesn't feel flimsy and hasn't marked at all.

QueenCardigan · 31/07/2014 08:13

Lovely top carrie. We should go shopping together one day.
perfect grazia will probably have a 25% code soon if that helps?

carrie74 · 31/07/2014 08:29

Am now worried my top's not quite white enough. Oh well, it'll have to do.

QueenC, we definitely should. This summer is already running away with me!

Is anyone else fed up with their hot weather clothes? I only have 3-4 things suitable for this hot hot hot weather for work, and I'm fed up of seeing the same things day in day out. Likewise shorts. I've got 5 pairs, which is usually fine, but I've been wearing them now for weeks! Still, can't complain, the summer's been glorious (and I've probably jinxed it now and will get a rainy August..).

QueenCardigan · 31/07/2014 08:33

carrie I'm definitely fed up of my summer wardrobe. I have 4 pairs of shorts and a few vest tops. I tried to convince dh that I needed more shorts but he vetoed the idea Grin. Because I have so many cardigans, in winter I can make the same jeans and tops look different but it's harder in the summer.
