Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

There's a lot of info on this site.

I haven't done the style day with HOC, but will do, probably when my mum next comes to visit so we can do it together. My consultant said I'm natural with something - initially she thought classic, but then said natural ingenue. I'm not sure - I don't think I can do very pretty stuff or delicate jewellery etc.

IsItFridayYetPlease · 26/07/2014 20:01

An interesting site

fooogle · 26/07/2014 21:30

Interested in style things. I've not done the day. I'm wondering if I'd be a dramatic natural which seems a big contradiction! Any of this combo here?!

ThePerfectNegroni · 27/07/2014 06:08

I did my style day a few months ago and I'm not sure how helpful it was. I liked the stage where we talked about proportions and shapes of clothing, but I have struggled with the category descriptions. The girl I was with instantly clicked with hers and could get it straight away. I had to read through nearly all the descriptions. We decided I was a romantic natural, and had lots of emails back and forth about it.

mimiasovitch · 27/07/2014 11:28

Isit - Had a good look through that site. From the descriptors I'm a definite soft dramatic, but from the quiz I'm a soft classic, though I certainly never feel radiantly elegant Grin. I guess I'll wait and do the style day in September, though I really am trying not to shop so much at the mo.

IsItFridayYetPlease · 27/07/2014 12:35

That site I mentioned a few posts up was pretty accurate for me. HoC = Gamine - Ingénue; website = soft gamine. It actually helped clarify it for me because although I love the gamine style I left my HoC style session wondering how I could really be a gamine with the extra weight I carry, to me gamine is petite and very slim. But add the soft aspect and it all makes sense.

QueenCardigan · 27/07/2014 21:19

Lose your lingerie looks body awful on me Grin. I always knew pale colours looked bad on my big wide nails so why did I buy it Hmm. But, I do love this lip crayon. Easy to apply. I have it rumour has it. There's loads of bright pink colours though that all looked good.

GingerLemonTea · 27/07/2014 21:28

What does the style day provide you with?

QueenCardigan · 28/07/2014 09:09

ginger you get a booklet with ideas of skirt length, sleeve shapes, scale of pattern etc. I found it a totally useful day.

Stokey · 28/07/2014 10:04

I like that lip crayon QueenC. Is Rumour Has It close to the HOC fuschia 62? I have been wearing it but the staying power isn't great.

I bought a Zara green jungle print jacket in the sales this weekend - great winter colours. It's here on Belinda's blog if you scroll down. They also had some nice navy dresses in Zara and if you're feeling adventurous a cobalt jumpsuit.

SorrelForbes · 28/07/2014 11:22

Stokey The Estee Lauder one I linked to up thread (Dominant) is similar to HoC 62 (but nicer IMHO) and has great staying power.

Stokey · 28/07/2014 11:43

Thanks Sorrel I bought the rebellious rose one of that before I had my colours done. It's a little browny but still works, but they are lovely lipsticks.

The cobalt dress is going back as it swamped me but the colour is great.

I'd recommend it for a taller, broader 8 than me - I'm 5ft3 with a 28inch back so on the petite side.

SorrelForbes · 28/07/2014 12:00

Which size did you order, 8?

Stokey · 28/07/2014 13:55

yes 8 - it was very long - in that my arms only just reached the pockets.

GingerLemonTea · 28/07/2014 21:42

More questions......

Does the style day advise on hair, make up & jewellery?

QueenCardigan · 28/07/2014 21:52

ginger there wasn't a huge amount of hair and make up in mine but as a natural I don't need to do a lot anyway. There was advice on jewellery though-for me, small delicate pieces work better than big chunky pieces.

stokey I love that dress. It's similar to my mango one but with a better neckline for me as it's detailed

SorrelForbes · 28/07/2014 21:53

I think a 10 would be too long do me then even if they weren't sold out!

The style day covers hair and jewellery. Make up is part of the Colour day.

QueenCardigan · 28/07/2014 21:56

stokey meant to say that rumour has it is similar to 62 probably so similar that I didn't need it

Does anyone want ice pink nails? I'm happy to send lose your lingerie to whoever wants it....

QueenCardigan · 28/07/2014 21:59

Another question-whist eyeshadow do you all wear? I don't usually wear any but on Saturday decided to put some pale silver stuff on and I really liked it. Before getting my colours done I used to wear eye make up with neutral lips but now I wear pink lips I wonder if it's too much? What do others do?

GingerLemonTea · 28/07/2014 22:01

Thanks QueenC & Sorrell. Yes I've done the colour day & bought the recommended starter pack with 3 lipsticks, foundation, concealer & blusher, plus an eyeshadow to fill in my brows. I use the blusher daily, the shadow often & lipsticks often, but applied lightly.
Just wondered more about whether when advising of your style category, if make up wise & with hairdos whether there are typical looks attached to that style if that makes sense?

Strong eye make up vs a lighter look.
Long, wavy hair vs a sleek bob.

Also are u given celebs to identify with & do they typically have a similar look?

Hope that makes sense, just pondering as tempted to cut my hair.

GingerLemonTea · 28/07/2014 22:06

I like Fearne Cottons long bob...
bob

GingerLemonTea · 28/07/2014 22:08

Though mine would probably look like this which I think is a bit flat
flat bob

GingerLemonTea · 28/07/2014 22:11

QueenC, I bought bone by Bobbi Brown as it gets lots of good reviews, but I do think it has a slight yellow tinge to it, so I tend to use it as a base to even things out. Then I blend some purply shades, but I don't think it looks great and am looking for something new. I've never been good at eye make up!

QueenCardigan · 28/07/2014 22:15

I think my booklet said just to keep my hair natural looking. Mine is a bit like Fearnes in that it's a long bob and a bit inverted at the back but I don't do much to style it. Just blow dry it otherwise it would be very flat. Anything severe would look awful on me and I need a softer look. Whereas my hair would probably look frumpy on a dramatic.

ThePerfectNegroni · 29/07/2014 06:38

I love Mac Vex for a sheer light grey/ silvery shimmery wash. It's a duo chrome so has other cool colours in it. I also like mac shale which is slightly darker, more a mid grey that has purple undertones in.

My thoughts are turning to AW at the moment (even though I'm using free wifi on holiday) and thinking about how to update for winter. I bought a mid grey leather jacket recently but need a new winter coat, a couple of winter day dresses and or skirts and a new pair of boots. If I see an awesome reasonably priced handbag I might be tempted too.
