Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

Received my Revlon burgundy lip gloss from ebay today. Loving it.

Thanks to whoever pointed me in its the direction. Thanks

Also received my navy and burlesque red Dylon dyes - a job for the weekend.

Burgundy is one of my wow colours as is pine green - I expect both to be hard to find especially at this time of year. I have plenty of navy and charcoal so want to branch out a bit.

Hello Face, I'm a jewel winter gamine as well. (But gamine-ingénue, rather than dramatic). I have promised to not buy any more clothes until I look at my spring/summer wardrobe, so living in black or navy trousers and either black tops with scarves or brighter (pink, red or purple) tops. I like the darks and brights, but am struggling with the icy pales.

I'm a Jewel Winter (no idea of style type), and I was horrified by the lipstick choices! I love Laura Mercier lipstain in Scarlet.

I'd love a dark emerald top recommendation, or lobelia, if anyone's bought a nice one recently.

I like edgy type clothes, like Cos (sadly their shape doesn't suit me, but that's a thread for the Weight Loss thread!).

I have these trainers.

Sorry, I meant I was horrified by the lipstick choices suggested by the HOC lady, not the above MNers!

I was horrified by the lipstick suggestions when I first saw them too, Muff, but once I was wearing them during my session for a while and had some of my ** colours draped whilst wearing them I was less scared. So I bought two and persevered with them at home before I wore them out. I wore Revlon Lip Butters out as they were less intense, but soon found they weren't bold enough. Now I happily wear my HoC lipsticks and some others that I bought that are similar (I'm trying to only use organic/very natural make up and skin care).

I think it was because the only lip colour I wear is that one I mentioned and mostly I just wear slightly glossy lipbalm. I also like the Dior Lip Glow that is supposed to accentuate your own lip colour, that's a good one for lipstick chickens!

I never wore lipstick or gloss before my colour day, so it was a huge shock and revelation!

This sunny weather makes me want to get my summer clothes out of the loft and unpack them all to see what works. But I can't be bothered to find the ladder and I know if I get summer clothes out it will surely make the weather change for the worse Wink.

These won't be to everyone's style I'm sure but I've just ordered a pair at a much cheaper proice than they originally cost from Nine West hope they're not fakes

I'm also wondering if this green is bright enough?

That green dress is beautiful! That's dark emerald I think, what colour were you looking for?

Hi everyone, thought I'd join you on this new thread.

I was surprised to be diagnosed a 'dark winter' (same as sultry? Definitely not bright) in December. No idea of style. I have no style...

I've embraced some of the colours - got rid of any brown, and have lots of charcoal. Navy was good for me but I haven't really got any.

I'm wondering where on earth to start for spring/ summer. Not a large budget (at all) and will need smart-casual work clothes as well as home clothes.

The odd bright top with black/ charcoal kind of worked for winter, but won't for spring.

Please help! Maybe by telling me what you're wearing on this beautiful spring day.

That dress is gorgeous Sorrel.

Similar to you Judy I'm wondering about spring/summer. I'm a burnished winter so the darker colours of the winter palette suit me. I have lots of charcoal and navy but need to branch out.

Charcoal doesn't seem a very summery colour but navy is better I think. Navy works well with red, white, emerald and probably others of the brighter colours too.

Style wise I like fitted clothes as I'm tall and slim I can look swamped in anything too loose and flowing. In cooler weather I live in shorts/short skirts with opaques or in straight jeans.

I don't get my legs out in the summer - too pale and veiny!

Just got some grey khakis from Gap for the warmer weather and I have some navy wide leg linen trousers. Also, have a couple of slim cut maxi dresses.

For work I have bought three pairs of 7/8 trousers from Gap (am loving Gap right now for their extensive 'Tall' range) - black, navy and silver grey.

Not sure if this helps - I'm still finding my way (and spending far too much!).

I'm dipping my toe into S&B for the first time. For years I was under the impression I was an autumn, but after going to a HoC colour session with my mum the consultant was sure I had been mis-diagnosed, and I'm actually a winter.

I have booked a style day and wondered what I can expect - is it at this session that I will find out if I'm bright or cool etc and also get the whole gamine/romantic assessment too? The consultant said she would do a bit of a tailored session since my colour check was very brief (since I was at my mum's session, not my own). I'm quite excited and have been looking online at the winter guides and reading the winter thread on mn too. I have dabbled with the lips and can see why brighter is better but still not quite brave enough to leave the house in such vibrant shades!

Gorgeous dress sorrell.

judy I wear a lot of navy or white tops in the summer with a bright coloured cardi. I'm a sprinter winter though so the bright colours suit me better.

bear you usually find out what type you are at your colours session but if yours was brief then I'm sure you'll find out at your style day. You'll get told your best colours from the pallete.

judy I've considered white jeans but apart from being totally incompatable with my life as a sahm I just can't do it. To me they scream 'look at me' for some reason Confused. I tend to wear cropped jeans/denim shorts or navy trousers/shorts.

Hello Winters!

Currently obsessing over various ebay items... A collarless leather jacket...biker-y thing and a white cotton dress with spots... Are either of these sensible?! I know that probably I should get a navy jacket as that is more flattering though I have black at * 50% I think though navy hard to come by.
Ebay is my current nemesis as I think I am getting bargains but then if they are no good its not quite the same as just returning them in the post as with 'real' shops... Need to stop buying really....! never going to happen is it

Fooogle · 18/03/2014 20:30

Sorry for my ramble folks! Still undecided on black jacket...

Ordered pale blue blouse from new look yesterday... Hoping its icey and some black culottes (v 80s but gonna see how they are). I too am wondering what the heck to wear in summer. Anyone else had revelations?!

My next relaxed skinnies came. Wanted them to fit but massive on the waist. Black lift and shape ones felt horrid do back to the jeans drawing board... !
