It's been a while since I set one up so thought I'd do the honours.
For glass half full fashion fanatics. Bring a positive attitude, a love of clothes and lots of lovely links. All welcome, from high street to high end.

Novice that is a loong way to go for 48hrs. Do you need to be there in person or could you use tele presence? (sp). Love the sound of your outfit.

Loving the bag links. Smythson is so understated but looks so sophisticated. Nice LV bag Santa esp the colour.

Looking good Linus! Am lying on sofa in baggy sweatpants circa 2000 and pineapple hoody under gorgeous fluffy throw. There might be a large glass of wine in my hand.

Am looking for flattering white jeans and 7/8 trousers. Am 5' so struggle somewhat with length. Will keep looking.

Annianni · 22/02/2014 19:19

Lovely bag for work Liberty.

Hope your case turns up Marsha.

Yes the navy jumper came today Dry.
It's lovely, but...

It's like a crop top on me :o
It looks fab and slouchy on you.
Width wise it's fine, but just far too short for me Sad
It's belly button length, I need another 4 inches!

LinusDKD · 22/02/2014 19:28

something for umlauf?

I love Snoopy but I'm afraid not cool enough to pull this sweater off.

Decameron · 22/02/2014 19:31

I'm looking forward to a glass of wine as soon as dd2 goes to bed!

Your outfit sounds great, Shop.

Awesome prize, Blair, have fun!

I really like the epi leather neverfull, Santa, not personally keen on the monogrammed canvas but it is a good size.

LinusDKD · 22/02/2014 19:34

Not a parka but it is burgundy for mig

MarshaBrady · 22/02/2014 19:57

Thanks everyone Smile. It's really lovely to be back amongst my faves on here. Love it.

Cate Blanchett is amazing in Blue Jasmine. I saw soo many films.

shopafrolic · 22/02/2014 20:04

Changed the top to a silk Joseph top in black with a ruffle at the front. The tee wasn't working. So I am head to toe in black (default night out outfit!). I need some going out tops. I am sorted for day but have very little for nights out.
I've found an oversized fold over clutch - cheap as chips from Faith years ago that I forgot I had! I think it works. MK rose gold watch and Monica Vinader bracelet.
I also realised I need a black belt with an oblong gold buckle, about an inch / inch and a half wide. Wardrobe gaps remain!

I need film recommendations when you're ready Marsha
BTW I'm still going to be in London on Dry's cancelled MU date as I need to get hair done for a wedding so if anyone is about......

Oh Linus first shoes day! How lovely.

Novice Sydney for just one day of meetings Shock. Hope you enjoyed Twickenham today – needless to say I am not happy with the result. Good luck collecting your DH QueenC I am predicting he will be merry Smile

All sounds very positive about uni one. How exciting.

Really like the Smythson bags/pouches Marade.

Fingers crossed your suitcase turns up quickly Marsha and welcome back!

Blair great news about your London fashion week event tomorrow. On what to wear have you seen the magazine in today’s Times? There is a feature on the staff of UK Vogue magazine and how they dress. One of them wears a ‘uniform’ of either black Topshop Baxters with a plaid shirt and ankle boots or NB’s with a mini skirt and Gap oversize cashmere sweater. They are all big fans of Asos print dresses with luxe accessories. High street fine apparently as long as you have high end bag and sunnies. And Fedup according to the Vogue girls the only place to go for white jeans is H&M.

Your outfit for tonight sounds great Shop. Well done on potty training – sounds like DS is doing really well.

I am keeping the bag – thanks for all the lovely comments.

Turquoiseblue · 22/02/2014 23:16

evening all - very MNV here in Intimissimi nightie and fleecy dressing gown!

Liberty - lovely bag- I love the Pippa bag actually- I considered the Pippa actually - it s the pockets and pouches and structure that appealed to me. I like that fashion round up.

Soo.......
anyone care to summaries SS14 for me? pastels, pink coats and jackets, sportswear (again,) ponytails..... leather seems to be hanging around,

Anni - I hate when that happens with clothes- I regularly find waist bands and skirts end up mini length on me ...boo!

shop i have lovely kooples and sandro tops for nights out (see pin). have you your holiday sorted?

we ve booked summer and easter holdiays feel very organised! (i m not usually) am quite excited especially as Easter is to a really special place for us.

Where s umlauf these days ?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 22/02/2014 23:21

Thanks liberty! It's not much, but feels nice to have won something and I am excited. I didn't see the mag so thanks for typing all that out. Unfortunately I don't think I can recreate anything like those outfits! Why is it you realise where the gaps in your wardrobe are at the worst moment?

Was thinking of trying the winter white jeans thing with navy pea coat, but had forgotten I chopped the bottoms off my white jeans (Primark...) to ankle length and now they look a bit rubbish. And emphasise my thighs. Sigh!

I'll report back on any crazy outfits I see... hopefully it'll be good people watching.

Now off upstairs to stare into the wardrobe for a bit and then bed.

Hope you had good nights dry and shop :)

shopafrolic · 22/02/2014 23:42

Waves a slightly merry goodnight to all my lovely Voguettes. Fun night. My friend looked fab as always in a leather skirt, lovely knit and statement necklace with fab heels and AH clutch. Good food, wine and company.

marsha welcome back
liberty he was a little merry but not as bad as I expected
one excellent news.

turq this is a quick round up from this weeks grazia of 10 ways to nail the new season now...

  1. Primary and secondary colours- red, yellow, green and blue and maybe a bit of orange
2.fierce florals
  1. Ugly chic shoes-the man repeller shoe, stompy, clumpy, flat and frumpy
  2. Sports disco- basically sports luxe with a 70s vibe
  3. Logo a go go. (Check out DMBL40 for her round up of logo tees)
  4. Do the skirt and shirt
  5. Graceful lace
  6. Folds, drapes and pleats
  7. Layers upon layers-learn the art of complex layering eg skirt or dress over trousers or a sheer slip peeking out of hemlines
10. Metallics for magpies-hi shine footwear and iridescence
QueenCadbury · 23/02/2014 07:02

Forgot to say blair have a fab time. Do report back. I looked at it online and it all looks very exciting.

MarshaBrady · 23/02/2014 07:57

QueenC thanks, it's great to see you back.

Blair how exciting, good one. What's in your wardrobe that could work?
We can help choose something.

Shop great outfit.

Novice that does sound very tough. You'd have to leave enough time around the day for delays too I imagine. We got delayed heavily due to some fog. Just one runway in Dubai. Nightmare to manage.

Santa lovely bag.

Because lovely!

Liberty lovely work bag, good decision.

Am catching up patchily.

MarshaBrady · 23/02/2014 08:48

Why is choosing a coffee machine so difficult Yes finally. Gosh some are ugly! And I just want the good cream on the espresso.

Drywhiteplease · 23/02/2014 09:19

Morning all.Smile
Marsha welcome back.
Anni shame about the jumper. I'm short Grin .
Had a good night, changed shoes to the rose gold ones I got from Zara but it didn't feel right at all. The Gucci was great though.....first outing.
I find trousers tricky because I have a short legs. (30" compared to my friends 36"!!!!!) I always feel dumpy.Sad Jeans are ok for some reason, but going out is difficult which is why I often choose a dress sick of. Until recently I've always carried my weight on my backside and hips ( and will always be a little pear) and instinctively don't like anything clingy on that area when infact I know that that fitted clothes are more flattering.

Great fashion round up QC you make masculine shoes sound so appealing Grin

MarshaBrady · 23/02/2014 09:37

Ha yes I was just thinking that Dry. re the round up and shoes. You are tiny so yes I think you look great in fitted.

Shop movie round up.

Blue Jasmine - absolute tops. Great clothes. Loads of Chanel, Hermès and perfect NYC upper east style. Beautiful apartment too. Great acting and great story line.

All is Lost - Robert Redford on a boat. Beautifully done, no dialogue but so claustrophobic as his options get smaller and smaller. Found it more intense than Gravity. But maybe that's because I saw the latter on the back of a plane seat.

We're the Millers - hilarious. So, so funny. Laughed out loud.

Enjoyed Escape Plan - ott Stallone and Arnie prison thing.

And Reality Bites. Really good. And so funny to see the 90s done so well. I imagine I would have fallen for Ethan Hawke too.

And about 15 others! All of which washed over me one after the other. Princess Diana (ok), Runner Runner, Fifth Estate, Enough Said, About Time or something - Richard Curtis schmatlz found the lead irritating but made me feel teary. The rest I watched and they have fallen out of my mind.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 23/02/2014 09:45

Marsha, for my last trip to NY I decided to do 80's films (KLM had a great selection) and I really enjoyed Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink, neither of which I had seen before (grew up in Spain). I need to download Reality Bites. I think I might have seen it but it would have been dubbed, which is not quite thesame. People used to say I looked like Winona Ryder, but I never saw it.

MarshaBrady · 23/02/2014 09:52

She looks amazing in it Because. Huge eyes and a small face.

Ben Stiller is great in it, and I actually realised he directed it, didn't notice that when I was younger. Casting himself as the yuppie cheeseball was great. 'Have I stepped over some line in the sands of coolness with you?' . Loved it, really reminded me of how we used to be all cool and aloof Grin

LinusDKD · 23/02/2014 10:20

Morning!

Has anyone had problems with Pinterest?

I just tried to pin something and got the following message:'There's been some strange activity on your account, so we put it in safe mode to protect your Pins. To get going again, just reset your password'

Weird. Will reset passport and see if that helps.

MarshaBrady · 23/02/2014 10:22

Linus I had exactly that in Aus. I did log in on dh's phone before I got it, I thought it was that.

QueenCadbury · 23/02/2014 10:24

marsha and dry that was grazia's wording not mine!

shopafrolic · 23/02/2014 11:01

Morning all. Movie night on channel 4 tonight. Devil wears Prada! bridesmaids and then sex and the city.

OP posts:
maradesbois · 23/02/2014 11:17

Morning!

linus I've had that message from Pinterest before as well when accessing from a different device, reset password and it worked fine again.

santa love the Vuitton epi too but think price point sort of defeats object of a holdall for running round after dc etc and you can only get it in MM not GM. Also not sure if its as sturdy as the monogram/damier. At that price point you're nearly at the BV you linked yesterday too which was a beauty, love the intrecciato (sp?) I have loads of monogram stuff, still like it for luggage but less keen on the rest now, mostly bought years ago. Have been enjoying getting inspiration from you all regarding what I see as more under the radar brands.

marsha welcome home! Have never been to Aus but heard it has the best coffee culture in the world so hope you get your fix of a decent crema. After resisting for years the mara household has gone over to Nespresso (what else?) and v. happy with the selection available.

Have managed to make a decision re bags, going to order the yellow smythson clutch today. Am thinking smart casual spring/summer evenings paired with white skinny jeans and navy blazer. Would also love some yellow strappy sandals, will need to have a look.

Anyway, off to try and find some snow for sledging this afternoon. Weather is beautiful but a bit too warm, we may have to go higher up tomorrow.
