It's been a while since I set one up so thought I'd do the honours.
For glass half full fashion fanatics. Bring a positive attitude, a love of clothes and lots of lovely links. All welcome, from high street to high end.

Mara really like the Smythson.

Lovely dress Linus but I agree about the boobs. I think that it must be designed either for a flat chested teenager or to be worn over a bikini at the beach!

It has been quiet on here today. I have just done the 30 day shred for the first time in a couple of months and am feeling virtuous Grin

justasecond · 04/03/2014 19:21

Thanks Dry Turquoise shop and Linus! Flowers you are all great. I have had a crap day today so nice to think someone cares (even if it is only jeans!)
MIH Oslo - tried these, they were not tight enough
Gap High rise - I really don't want high rise, a mid rise would be perfect, I feel too restricted with a high rise and feel they add bulk to my tummy area. The M&S jeggings are actually perfect on the leg but too high rise
Tried on quite a few pairs in the 7fam shop a while ago but none were skinny enough.
Baxter - again not really skinny enough esp round ankle
Leigh - not tried these but suspect may be a bit too skin tight.
Oasis cherry - tried on some at the weekend. They are the closest to what I am looking for but a bit too skinny on the calf (I know I am the Goldilocks of jeans)
Maison Scotch - not tried these yet, will give them a go
Goldsign - a bit spendy but if they were perfect I would do it!

justasecond · 04/03/2014 19:22

btw I have a 30% off code for Kurt Geiger if anyone is interested?

LinusDKD · 04/03/2014 19:28

justa try the Leighs, I really like them.

Or what about Boden skinnies? I have never tried them (have ordered some in the clearance sale but they have yet to arrive) but some bloggers like them a lot.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/03/2014 19:42

justa I have the Leighs and found them to be quite thin material. (It doesn't help either that I bought a size 28, which obviously doesn't mean the same in Topshop as it does everywhere else... they are quite tight!)

I used to rate River Island jeans a few years back, worth a try?

Also what about asos jeans, I keep meaning to try them.

I don't buy jeans that much as I work in an office but in terms of skinnies I found Goldsign the best for me (because I think I'm a similar shape on the bottom to Amber!)

Probably not helpful but I hope you find the perfect pair :)

shopafrolic · 04/03/2014 19:49

Linus I wouldn't dare with that dress. Gorgeous though.
Justa I hope you find something you love
Smythson for me too.

decam (or anyone else) have you got a pair of the GAP skinny khakis? How's the fit? Any good?

Ooh I like these biker boots

My shoe boots are back in stock. Think I will order them. I have them in the suede and adore them.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 04/03/2014 21:36

Hello everyone. Just had a catch-up (took me a while) so I'm up to speed...

Nothing really to say for myself, except I'm still waiting on the RL dress (had despatch email last Thursday), the Tory Burch swimsuit and some blue cropped Sloan pants from BR. Off to Spain on Saturday night and packed my bags on Sunday because I had an hour of free time before bed and can't guarantee I'll get another before I go (highly unlikely). It's a real ball ache trying to get 4 days-worth of chic day and evening outfits (plus accessories) into Ryanair's carry-on allowance. I've had to be brutal, albeit reluctantly. I cleverly bought DH a Victorinox cabin-sized case for his birthday yesterday, so hoping he'll have a little free space for any (ahem) souvenirs including, hopefully, a pair of Maas High Tops for DD2 as they're a Spanish brand and maybe a little less £££.

Thanks for the feedback re lash extensions - you've all helped me to decide not to have them done. I'll just keep lashing on the kohl/mascara!

Drywhiteplease · 04/03/2014 21:51

Grumpy have a lovely time.
Dd asked me last night to teach her to sew. I'm so chuffed as it's something I love and nice to do something together. The only thing is I can't resist a fabric shop and tend to loose it a bit Hmm.
Came back with fabric and pattern for 3 skater skirts for dd obv
And some lovely lawn cotton for 3 shell tops for me Shock
I'm a woman possessed when I sew.....so, we have cut out and started one skirt and I've cut out all 3 tops. Will have them done by the weekend.Grin

maradesbois · 04/03/2014 22:09

linus thanks for bag suggestions, I really like the last one but dh has a thing against mulberry for some reason. Want a British brand and think I share the consensus that the smythson has the edge, just irks me to spend so much £££ on a briefcase! The was a larger one left in the winter sale that i dithered over (again!) and has now sold out. Don't imagine they'll be doing any other promotions soon, grr!

Congratulations on your success with 5:2. You seem to be finding it a lot easier than I did. Must admit I didn't buy the book, just did it on my own & although I did lose a bit of weight felt like I wasn't eating well eg filling up on diet drinks and packet soup & doing less exercise than usual. Having stuffed myself with pancakes tonight a fast day would be very welcome tomorrow though.

shop I love gap skinny khakis, have at least 3 pairs in different colours. Actually they are the stovepipe ones which are slim not skinny but I think they are a really flattering cut. I am long of leg but can still wear my burgundy ones in winter with ankle boots without leaving a gap.

justa I have leighs which are only a few months old and haven't been worn very much but are already looking very shabby. On the other hand have an older pair of the TS ankle-grazing skinnies with turn-ups (maybe called jamie?) which have worn better and much prefer.

Decameron · 04/03/2014 22:12

Shop, yes bought them in grey today, J Brandesque for a lot less. They are cheaper in store than online, £29 I think. I am going back to get them in khaki tomorrow. They don't seem to come up as big as Gap jeans normally do, I got my usual size. Not as stretchy as the denim leggings (which I decided to keep as my hanging around jeans) so hope they will keep their shape.

Justa, I like my skinny jeans as skinny as possible, but Paige, J Brand, Current/Elliott and Goldsign are my favourites, Gap good too but go tight as they can stretch. I also have the Paige Hoxtons Shop mentioned which are not that skinny, you could try J Brand Rail which are more straight leg. Personally don't like Baxters but I wore them when I was pregnant so maybe it's because I associate them with that.

Did anyone buy anything with the Whistles code? Blair, the code is WH25SS14. I ordered the seam back tees in pink and blue. Saving myself for a Shopbop order as my friend is over from the US next week. Think I will get another Equipment shirt, Linus!

Have a great holiday, Grumpy.

Decameron · 04/03/2014 22:14

I have those biker boots, Novice, one of my best buys this winter.

Decameron · 04/03/2014 22:16

Justa I'd love the Kurt Geiger code please, I'd like a pair of white converse for summer.

maradesbois · 04/03/2014 22:42

Actually just realised I do have the gap skinny khakis as well as the stovepipe ones. Don't know how tall you are shop but they are quite cropped and I can only wear them when it's warm enough for no socks (am 5'7"). Fit is good though.

Decameron · 04/03/2014 22:49

I'm 5'9, they are above the ankle but not too cropped on me. I got these ones. They say that regular length is 32", which they definitely aren't.

justasecond · 04/03/2014 22:53

Shop I tried the Gap khakis last year, too short for me (also 5'7") but I wear them ankle grazing.
Dry I am so envious of your sewing skills. DD and me went to a sewing workshop in HT, we were the class dunces Blush She is so keen bless her but I am just useless!
Thanks for the jeans feedback Mara and Blair will check out the leighs although as you say the fabric may be too thin.
Is anyone getting anything in Whistles with the 25% off?

justasecond · 04/03/2014 22:57

The ones Decam linked are not the ones I tried. They look really good actually. Will check them out next time I am at the shops.

Drywhiteplease · 04/03/2014 23:12

What do we think of these?

Drywhiteplease · 05/03/2014 07:43

Dry you don't need winter boots...summer is coming. Stop being ridiculous.

Clementinematilda · 05/03/2014 07:58

Thank you to everyone who gave me advice regarding the bag. Much appreciated. And yes the Marcie is heavy. I just live in hope that my arms will be well toned especially with all the 'stuff' that I lug around it!

shopafrolic · 05/03/2014 08:26

Dry not keen and anyway...... spring sunshine is on it's way - stop being ridiculous
