It's been a while since I set one up so thought I'd do the honours.
For glass half full fashion fanatics. Bring a positive attitude, a love of clothes and lots of lovely links. All welcome, from high street to high end.

Yes, the frequent references to "the usual place" to which some of us do not have access to makes me (I cannot speak for others) left out. Shrug at me all you want, it is just how I feel, rightly or wrongly. Guess I'd better leave you regulars to it, then.

MarshaBrady · 03/03/2014 09:20

Because don't go. I can see it would feel like that. Sorry it's become a bit more closed recently. Not due to anyone on here at all.

I think we should try and stay on this thread as it's more inclusive.

shopafrolic · 03/03/2014 09:23

Because that isn't the intention. It's just that it's a private board, with personal photos shared among people who have met.
I will link more on here to avoid upset.

Mignonette · 03/03/2014 09:30

Think of it as a personal photo album or like a facebook closed group, that's all.

It's a shame it makes you feel left out but it has been going for a long time now. There is no discreet way of letting each other know we have pinned something on it sadly.

Bonsoir · 03/03/2014 09:33

I was out and about in central Paris this weekend ogling the fashion week crowd. I must have some new boyfriend jeans (slightly short) and some very brightly coloured flat trainers now. Can anyone give me any recommendations, especially for the most flattering jeans?

shopafrolic · 03/03/2014 09:40

Bonsoir I love my Paige Jimmy Jimmys. here
The ST Style supplement had a feature with loads of trainers in. New Balance still featured heavily.... they do great colour combinations too.

Bonsoir I've heard good things about Frame. But I don't have any.

I am so bored with winter clothes now. And this sunshine is making me want to buy pretty spring colours.

Mignonette · 03/03/2014 09:43

I prefer very neat, non clumpy trainers- Gazelles or classic Converse.

I am off to buy some pastels this morning for my trip tomorrow.

Bonsoir · 03/03/2014 09:43

Thanks Marsha and Shop - I shall investigate.

Colette is always a great source of trainers so no problems there. But I want to get the right jeans first.

Stokey · 03/03/2014 09:44

Loving Lupita of course, and Emma Watson looked age appropriate - which was nice, young & funky IMO.

Angelina - what were you thinking? Makes her look old and not remotely flattering to her enviable figure. Didn't really like Charlize weird strap thing, and Penelope Cruz never quite gets it right.

Does anyone read Go fug yourself? They normally have pretty funny commentary on the big events - should start coming through this afternoon.

Would also love some boyfriends Bonsoir so watching for recommendations but don't want to spend ££££.

A question - Strictly no socks if wearing brogues and trousers?

Was thinking of wearing my new ones this morning but it's far too cold to go sock-less (til at least May - am massive wimp).

Maybe will just stick to wearing them with skirts/ dresses.

Bonsoir · 03/03/2014 09:45

I like the look of these

MarshaBrady · 03/03/2014 09:47

I do too.

Bonsoir · 03/03/2014 09:47

I wouldn't mind paying Zara prices either Stokey - but I won't know what to look for unless I check out the high-end brands first...

shopafrolic · 03/03/2014 09:53

They look good Bonsoir I think the slim boyfriends are more flattering.
Stokey I buy this type of thing if I want to wear shoes that don't show socks.

Annianni · 03/03/2014 09:53

I highly recommend Frame le garcon Bonsoir, they are lovely on and very flattering.
I just need to find my perfect wash in them.

I have some J Brand aidens which I love.
But I can only wear the ones with a slight stretch, the 100% cotton ones make me feel trussed up!

shopafrolic · 03/03/2014 09:55

YY to stretch too. Much more comfortable and don't seem to bag so much after a few wears.

I quite like the gap "sexy" boyfriends stokey especially as mine were £15 in the jan sales!! A good way to try them out. I really love annis aidens though!they are the best I've seen I think so far.

Speaking of jeans blair I must thank you for the asos tip off I ordered a pair of mih Paris in "aviator" (think that means brown) for £40! Even DH conceded they were bargainous enough to warrant a purchase in the month of cargate. I hope they arrive before Friday though as I'm on holiday and "sorry you were out" is a pain in the proverbial in Spain.

If ds ever falls asleep I want to catch up on the oscars!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/03/2014 10:04

Hello all

Just had a flick through the dresses gallery - saw Lupita's on tv earlier and agree she can do no wrong with awards dresses lately, what an amazing colour her dress was! I also thought J Law, Cate B, Kate Hudson and Sandra Bullock looked great and loved their dresses. Agree Angelina was a little corpse-like and I didn't like Emma Watson's at all. Young people should wear colour imo.

A little light relief re Leo's non-Oscar here - saw this a few weeks back and it made me giggle.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/03/2014 10:06

You're v welcome Umlauf! Hope they are nice.

Reading the boyfriends talk with interest as I really want some too. I am tempted to do a selfridges denim try-on soon and then buy in the US, or maybe just try Gap, depending on the difference in fit/quality and how much I end up wanting to spend.

Annianni · 03/03/2014 10:06

You're the one who came on here yesterday Because, with the sarky comment about my pin group.

Am I not allowed to respond?

Several times I have posted on here that it's nothing to do with this thread, and that it's a private place where I share photos with my friends.

I can understand why it would make people feel like they were missing something but that's no different to someone coming on here and saying they've pm'd another person.

There are several women on my pin board who don't post on here.
And I don't think it's any different than being on Facebook or Twitter.

It's actually quite boring on there, you're not missing much... But I don't really want to post photos of my undecorated hallway on here, and I would like to ask my friends for advice.

Whenever people ask on here for access, I get pm's off people who say they'll have to delete their photos because they don't want someone that they've never met, seeing photos of their dc's or themselves.

You're very welcome to post on this thread Because, you probably post more than me at the moment.

But I'm not going to just ignore comments about myself.

MarshaBrady · 03/03/2014 10:07

Haha Blair yep. Love him, he's great.

maradesbois · 03/03/2014 10:12

Morning all,

Just been checking out the Oscar red carpet over my morning coffee. Loved Cate's whole look, she is very elegant. Lupita was fab, beautiful dress which she was completely at ease in. Amongst the midnight blues I loved Amy adams's minimalist Gucci. As for the rest, not very exciting. I have a big black tie event later in the year and will be needing lots of help re outfit/styling.

Re pin etc I completely understand the privacy issue and that you are only comfortable sharing family photos amongst those you are friends with irl, I am the same. All I would say is that the regular requests for fashion opinions/advice in a place where I cannot contribute makes me feel a bit Confused as to the point of the thread. I'd love to come to your next meet up if I can, am not London based (yet!) but any excuse for a shopping day very welcome!

Have a great day everyone, lovely sunshine here but have to get down to work.

shopafrolic · 03/03/2014 10:13

LOL Blair

maradesbois · 03/03/2014 10:18

Hello again, completely understand where you're coming from anni re your board and was just thinking maybe we could set up a private pin just for regular users of this thread where we post pics of ourselves only, not family etc that way we could get useful advice etc without the privacy issues? I'd happily set it up if it was something some of you would use.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 03/03/2014 10:21

Anni, my comment wasn't about you specifically - I was trying, humorously (thus the smileys) to convey the feeling that you get when you are in a group and someone whispers something into someone else's ear, that feeling of being slightly left out.

It actually is not that important, as you point out we have never met let alone become friends, but being a sensitive soul that I am (mild sarcasm/mild truth), it rubs me the wrong way that you seem to now give me permission to post here.

I don't think we are going to get to an agreement and I think sadly we have taken this difference of opinion a step too far, making others uncomfortable in the process. So I am going to drop it here and apologize at how I came across as it definitely wasn't my intention to upset anyone.
