santa I've just been looking at those photos of SC. Each to their own but 10 days after birth I would not want to be on a hot sandy beach with the apps following me Confused.

anni I like the coat (have you seen dmbl40 wesring it?). See how you feel when you try it on as that may make the decision for you.

I'm sitting here accessorised by a huge blanket and a cat, stuffing my face with humous and waiting for the pain killers to take the edge of my period pain and headache.

AmberNectarine · 25/02/2014 12:21

I think that poor partner of SC's is under the world's scrutiny and has just given birth. I think I'd be a little fragile too.

Annianni · 25/02/2014 14:22

I feel sorry for her too.
She should be sat on a towel on the sofa at home, having lots of cuddles like I was not surrounded by photographers on the beach.

I ventured out for a coffee at 10 days post birth with Ds1 but with Ds2 (c/s though) I was on the sofa, wearing pjs, a big bloated mess and trying to breastfeed.

I have boots.
Will link shortly.
And I had a jalouse revelation :o
I've tried 6's before and they made my ankles look a bit chunky.
So I tried a 7 and they looked good.
I would have bought them if they weren't beige (too similar to my all saints boots) as they were £35 or £39 bargainous either way... Now need to try a pair with an insole/ socks etc.

I tried the Zara coat in green and navy.
The navy looked better on me, but it was a bit scratchy. It was ok, nothing special on me though.

Didn't try any NB'S.

Hello ladies

have been working a bit & not spending as much time clothes shopping but just spied a 50% Marni sale at the Outnet

am slightly in love with this but don't know if I can justify spending any money ... booo

btw on bathroom front Dry got some amazing tiles from B&Q of all places - half the price of posh tile shops & look pretty good

& agree with bathstore as good value for furniture & fittings - we went for a free-standing bath from there rather than paying 5 times more for the proper cast iron one

Mignonette · 25/02/2014 15:45

Hello all-

Sorry for radio silence, struggling a bit at the moment as coming up to a year since FIL died and on top of my Father dying just months before that. DH is starting to feel the bite of his bereavement and of course I cannot make it all go away for him sad]. Also I'm experiencing a lot of anxiety at the moment- racing heart and panicked feelings; classic free floating anxiety.

I sound a real old misery don't I? Smile Feels almost like my old PMS but I'm done with all that. Al the yearly bills poured through the door too!

Flicked through Grazia today at the store and saw Gwynnie is being hauled over the coals again- fake concern about some mythical affair that Vanity Fair was going to expose. Graydon Carter apparently commissioned an article to 'take Gwyneth down' (his words) and at that moment I vowed never to buy or read that magazine again. Like her or not, what a vile thing to say.

Umlauf I love those tropical prints and I love green too.

Turquoiseblue · 25/02/2014 17:08

Aw mig- hugs. Sounds like a lot going on.

Nice j crew jumper Blair

Linus - did you see the feature on the baujken lady who had the orange in her kitchen in Red last month? Actually suited the house and looked a bit cool! Maybe that s what your dh is channeling. I saw that coat in zara last weekend - they also had it in big bird bright yellow ... I liked the green.

Enjoy your anniversary.

Right brogues - in or out? I think I want a pair for spring/ summer - yeay or nay? Need something tougher than ballet flats, but that I can wear with jeans and skirts,

santamarianovella · 25/02/2014 17:22

anni its our 4th this year too,we don't buy gifts by year,
maybe wait for something you like?

amber, the only person I'm sorry for is her 8yr old son,who is old enough to go online and see pictures of his mother and new step baby brother,he will grow up feeling abandoned by her,its not a nice situation believe me.

queen hope you feel better,

mig big hugs, difficult time for you and your dh,

umlauf tried the florabotanica and like it,thought of you during our half term holiday, found this, at a second hand book store, its incredible, the illustrations, the clothes, details of each item,I couldn't put it down, loved how they mentioned his top vendeuse, florette, who worked with him from beginning of his carer till he closed his house, and now I want to read more,so i downloaded his bio, I bought this too, have not read it yet,but flick through it,looks interesting,so these will be my reading materials Blush, not as deep as some of your reading choices but I could do with some frivolity now,

Bonsoir · 25/02/2014 17:57

Hi. Can I ask you all for some advice? I want to buy some clothes protectors/dust bags - probably in cotton - to go over clothes that are stored on hangers in my walk-in wardrobe. Have any of you got a good online address for such things? I don't need anything fancy.

santamarianovella · 25/02/2014 18:05

turq I think they are still in vogue,I see them around a lot,

bonsoir is this what you are looking for?

Bonsoir · 25/02/2014 18:07

santamarianovella - fabulous, just want I want! Thanks Smile

Bonsoir · 25/02/2014 18:08

Can I confess to a splurge in Dries Van Noten this afternoon? Anyone else a DVN fan?

santamarianovella · 25/02/2014 18:11

Ooh! Do tell! I love his designs

Mignonette · 25/02/2014 18:12

I am - love his painterly work, especially those gorgeous tunic dresses of a few years ago with vivid floral motifs. There was an interview with him recently- he works to the beat of a different drum.

Bonsoir · 25/02/2014 18:14

I got a skirt that is on a dropped waist - the waistband is natural coloured linen and the skirt itself is pink silky pleats. You can wear a long top over it so that you get a drop-waisted 20s effect or you can wear a shorter top or tuck one in.

I got two tops, both of which I can wear with the skirt - one fine-knit long sleeved in beige with gold twisted beading and one which is like a fisherman's smock in cream silk. The first one needs no accessories at all and the second one needs either a necklace (but I'm a bit fed up with statement necklaces as they give me back ache) or some major earrrings.

Bonsoir · 25/02/2014 18:16

Mignonette - I tried on quite a few floral painterly tops but they weren't really me. I still might though - I bought some sandals in Marni for this summer that really require something with big linen florals.

Mignonette · 25/02/2014 18:51

Yes Marni and Dries are natural bedfellows.

I am in Brussels next week and looking forward to shopping there even though I have not a clue about what I might find (apart from Prune Pie and Manons!)

LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 18:53

I like DvN Bonsoir but most of his things don't suit my bodyshape.

DM was a fan of his for a long time and bought lots every season but hasn't done so for the last few years. His shop in Antwerp is beautiful and the shop assistants very friendly and DM still gets an invitation every yesr to his clearance sale in this massive warehouse along the docks in Antwerp.

I once went with her many years ago and I had to sit down after a while laden with all the stuff DM wanted to buy whilst she continued to browse. She bought mainly fabrics at that clearance sale, which were absolutely gorgeous.

She also has an impressive collection of his scarves and has given me a few.

Which reminds me, I once bought a silk top, skirt and jacket to wear to a wedding and only wore it once after that, on the night DH proposed to me.

Maybe I can Ebay it as it really doesn't suit me. Does DvN stuff go for a reasonable price?

mig big hug for you and your DH.

LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 18:56

mig

shopping mekka of Brussels.

Bonsoir · 25/02/2014 19:03

Mignonette - yes, I have quite a lot of Marni (well, a lot more than I have DVN) and both are really good go-to designers for me when I want need something a bit dressy. I hate very formal clothing and Marni and DVN are special without being formal. Lucky you going to Brussels - DD and I are thinking of going there this weekend but not sure we'll manage to fit it in. How about a side-trip to the DVN store that Linus mentioned in Antwerp? It is very gorgeous! If your DH needs clothes, my DP really rates a store for men called Crossword which is on Avenue Louise, near the Conrad hotel. We make special trips from Paris just to shop there!

LinusDKD - I can well imagine that DVN doesn't suit all body shapes. I have a bit of a clothes hanger body (wide shoulders, small breasts) which works well with Marni and DVN. I have no idea about eBay for DVN but you should wait a few weeks until the DVN exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris is underway (it opens on 01/03) as it will definitely create a lot of interest in his work. I am going to go to the exhibition with some girlfriends on a guided tour and I can't wait!

LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 19:09

My old DvN jacket (can't find the skirt and top Blush )

MN Vogue - vol 34
LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 19:12

Which reminds me I had two other jackets, one of which DM gave away to someone else after I moved put as 'I would never be able to fit in it anymore'

Ok, it was a size 36 but still, she could have asked Angry

Another one should still be in my wardrobe, I hope...

LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 19:15

bonsoir I might have to come to Paris to go and see that exhibition!

turq If I could wear brogues I would, whether they are in or out of fashion. I love them on other people.

anni we usually don't buy anniversary presents according to the year either but last year was easy because it was wool. Grin

Bonsoir · 25/02/2014 19:17

Linus - Your jacket looks lovely and in excellent condition - I am sure that there is going to be a booming second hand market for DVN this year - just need to find the right time! I'll let you know how we get on at the exhibition and whether it justifies the trip Wink

Mignonette · 25/02/2014 19:29

Thanks for the heads up Linus and Bonsoir - I won't have time to deviate to Antwerp as only have three days and two are business but have afternoon 1- Eurostar due to arrive at 2pm and plan to hit the ground running!

Have you looked into selling on Vestiaire Linus? Plenty of fashion literate people on there who would appreciate your clothing. Not sure what the consignment fees are.

The exhibition sounds wonderful - it's been too long since I last went; it is so close I don't understand why I'm not there every Saturday TBH Smile. I spent a bomb in the food store G Detou last time as I love the pun in the name and it sells all kind of niche and cool ingredients. I am always torn between the food and the clothes- the two do NOT go together sadly!

Merci is my shop addiction and of course Monoprix for some super sweet clothing for my nieces! Also love the toiletries- the cheap stuff and the cahiers. Squared paper, old skool style.

QueenCadbury · 25/02/2014 20:25

Evening all. I wasn't familiar with dvn but have just googled. Loving some if the prints especially the poppy print.

I've spent a lot of time online browsing today and I actually can't find anything that I'd like to buy. Is it that I'm just feeling bleuurgh today or is there really nothing nice around....
