It's been a while since I set one up so thought I'd do the honours.

What sort of things are you looking for QueenCadbury? Which brands/designers do you usually like?

LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 20:45

queenc have a look on Yoox, they have some nice Pretty Ballerina's at discounted prices.

When in doubt, buy shoes! Wink

santamarianovella · 25/02/2014 21:14

bonsoir now I'm lusting after a drop waist skirt!

linus I was gonna suggest vestiaire too,I signed with them, and I'm thinking of selling some stuff through them, will tell you how it goes.

queen let me help Grin how about this or this dreamy dress ,want this badly,
My new year resolution is to wear more dresses,so I'm hunting for a couple of day ones,

LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 21:21

Nice dresses santa! I really like the APC one in the dark denim.

Let me know how Vestiaire Collective works out for you. I also have a Tod's bag I want to sell.

Right, off to bed.

Mignonette · 25/02/2014 21:51

Queen

YOU my dear would look amazing in Dries!

libertychick · 25/02/2014 22:43

Bonsoir the Dries stuff sounds fantastic - love the idea of the drop waist skirt.

That APC dress is great.

Santa question for you - you mentioned on another thread that a dermatologist you saw said not to have facials. Why? I have them occasionally and was thinking I should get them more often now that I'm 40.

Have been lurking on the 'Irish' thread - homesick now Sad.

LinusDKD · 26/02/2014 07:14

Morning!

I have decided one of my S/S purchases will be a kimono jacket.

I forgot who linked the New Look one but they have another one that I like, but 100% polyester unfortunately.

Anyone know of another place I can look?

Bonsoir · 26/02/2014 07:20

Libertychick - thank you Smile. Have realised I require some new shoes to do justice to the skirt. More shopping... Hey ho!

What sort of facial were you thinking of? I'm 47 and while I have recently made a few age-related adjustments to skin care, and am always interested in non-invasive ways of hanging on to youth, I don't have facials.

QueenCadbury · 26/02/2014 07:56

Morning. I took myself to bed at 8.30 last night as felt exhausted and had a hormonal surge so had to take myself away from dh before I killed him Grin.

bonsoir I like jeans and pretty blouses and cardigans. Oh and handbags. I'm a high st girl but would love an elie saab evening gown just to play dress up, I shouldn't be buying anything at the moment as we really need to do stuff to the house so it lucky there were no temptations.

linus it was me who linked the new look kimonos. I haven't yet seen them irl so no idea if they're cheap looking or not. I need to go to the apple store on Saturday as my iPad is playing up (weirdly it seems to freeze me out of mn quite a lot- I think it's trying to tell me something) so will take a look then.

Can't decide what to wear. Tummy is sore and swollen from period pain still and the tub of humous I devoured yesterday so I wish I could lounge around in sweats all day. Don't worry voguettes, I would never contemplate wearing them to toddler group though!

Mignonette · 26/02/2014 08:03

Hi all

I have been dressing down sadly because working from home kind of does that to you but I need to up my game. I wore a royal blue linen skirt yesterday- a bell shape that is ten years old but looks fresh -my kind of shopping. I never know what to wear with that colour so paired it with a pale grey sweatshirt and my Brogues (again- I am obsessed). The skirt ended up looking like a dish rag after my churning about on a chair all day but I felt more myself.

I am planning to do a pharmacie shop next week- very excited about that.

QueenCadbury · 26/02/2014 08:12

I just asked dd (2yo) what I should wear today and she said "a cardigan". That girl knows me wellGrin. Decided to celebrate the sun and find a short sleeve top so am wesring navy silk polyester and a damson cardi. A great colour combo for me and shiny stuff works well on me too.

Mignonette · 26/02/2014 08:26

I love my cardigans, I do Queen. That colour combo sounds lovely.

Fedupnagging · 26/02/2014 08:39

Morning, interesting discussion re DVN so have just googled. His clothes are not my style (high street) but I can imagine anyone wearing them would look stunning. Apparently, he does no advertising.

Sorry things are not great for you at the moment mig and hope you are feeling better today Queen. Like a nice cardi and love jumpers.

It is a beautiful morning here so after dog walking, I think I will wear white jeans, tan boots and a teal wool jumper for lunch with friends.

Am hoping my first AR order arrives today.

MarshaBrady · 26/02/2014 08:46

Morning Smile I just had my first double espresso for about four days. (Ok not Gaggia, issues) and boy does it work Grin

Liberty I am so impressed you don't have caffeine. Sorry about the homesickness Sad. Would you move back?

Mig I hope you are ok, a break to Brussels sounds just the ticket.

Queen how sweet of your dd.

Bonsoir great shopping, sounds very lovely.

Fed up Interesting about the no advertising. Good news on the AR.

Linus not sure but will keep an eye out.

Really lovely bag Stokey.

Anni I love that green coat too. I think you should get it!

Turq Yes on brogues. Good on the right person I think. I meant to say ages ago, I agree on the little things. The smooth box of Cook's matches, new and unblemished. Ds's little feet in his newly acquired Aussie flip flops at swimming, so cute. Beautiful packaging and of course this weather.

That espresso and sunshine has clearly has put me in a great mood.

Mignonette · 26/02/2014 08:57

Lovely sunny yellow Oasis bag on Lorraine this morning - £40. Not sure if it is leather but a lovely sack tote.

MarshaBrady · 26/02/2014 09:05

I love this Erdem but am surprised it's sold out at that price.

santamarianovella · 26/02/2014 09:05

Morning!

liberty I've been reading that thread too, used to know an irish guy ,loved how he prononce jayzus,Grin, the northern thread is funny.
And about facials, basically they are very short lived a day maximum and then your skin is back to how it was,so its better to invest in products that will give you a long lasting result.and as we get older our skin becomes more fragile and starts to lose its elasticity, and some facials technique, will make the skin sag,

Retinol is the best treatment you can use,and you are never too old or young to use it,in fact the younger you are the better results you will have in the long run . it removes dead cells, improves skin tone, and helps with collagen production, but only the concentration form, the ones that are only prescribed By drs,and not the kind you find in beauty products,

LinusDKD · 26/02/2014 09:07

It's raining here Sad

So I ordered this parka I've had my eye on for ages.

I am more of a mac kind of girl but this has a hood so is worth a try.

queenc oh if you do see the kimonos let me know what they are like. I really liked the blue one.

Stokey · 26/02/2014 09:27

Morning

Hope you're feeling better Mig, my FIL died just over a year ago, quite suddenly, and his wife was staying with us this weekend, bringing back memories. It is tough.

Turquoise I've been having the brogues/loafers dilemma. Really need some flats for work that are a bit sturdier than ballet shoes but still look good with a skirt/dress.

Loafers are just so school, finding it hard to get over and brogues a bit boyish. Just end up buying more boots instead but need to sort it out now that spring is coming.

I always find facials bring me out in spots - have given them up, will look out for retinol products Santa - 40 this yr so need to get into better habits skin care wise.

Mignonette · 26/02/2014 09:40

Stokey Yes it comes at you like a truck. DH is looking very drawn at the moment.

I have never had a facial - I hate having people poking and prodding at me. Even going to the hairdressers is an unpleasant experience for me.

I use any old thing really- SteamCream is a favourite as is good old Nivea and Clinique City Block. I enjoyed using Burts Bees marshmallow face cream when I bought a jar years ago from HN's 'Beyond Beauty'. In warmer weather I use Hei Poa Monoi Oil on my body and a little on my neck and decolletage.

I am a collector of hand creams- there are seven on my desk! My current favourite is Lanolips with the cute little sheep logo. I also have L'Occitane rose which was a magazine free gift, an old Chanel one which is ancient, Udder Balm from the US (my last tube was nicked from my work desk!), L'Occitane shea butter, a Burts Bees one and a little pot of Dior Creme Abricot which is supposed to be a cuticle cream but works beautifully on the whole hand and looks/smells luxe.

Annianni · 26/02/2014 09:43

Thanks Marsha but the green coat wasn't quite right on me Sad

These are the boots I got yesterday (from dh for our anniversary) they were £49 reduced from £185... dh is shocked I came in under budget :o

I wasn't sure about the buckles on the back, they looked daft with my J brand boyfriend jeans but I think they'll be fine with skinnys... will have a try on today.

I got this bag for free last night from AR, using that GIFT15 code, and I had some points to use, so all it has cost is the postage.
If it's nice, it can be my new going to the park/beach/zoo bag.

Annianni · 26/02/2014 09:46

(((hugs))) for Mig and Mr Mig xx

shopafrolic · 26/02/2014 10:17

Morning all! Hope you lovely Voguettes are all feeling fabulous.
Mig sorry that the memories are tough - hope things improve soon
Anni I like your choice of anniversary gift - I'm lucky if I scrape a card. We're not good at anniversaries and Valentine's type things but I get treated at other times so mustn't complain.
Inspired by the sunshine and Marsha's coffee drinking I have dug out my old cafetiere (remember those) and am waiting patiently for a cup of fresh coffee to brew. I loved your description of the simple things Marsha - especially the new match box - I love them too. I also love brand new leather covered notebooks - the smell, and the anticipation of writing on the first page - like a fresh edition of MNV. :)
So I'm starting to think about Spring. I nearly bought some J Crew vintage vests on The Outnet last night, still might, £11 each. Good basics. And I want another pair of espadrilles. Santa am I recalling correctly that you sent yours back? Have you found any others......? I had a red canvas pair last year and fancy another pair this year.
Must try those Hush shorts on while DH is out - they're hidden under the bed!
Hugs to Liberty - hope the homesickness passes - I'm very glad you're here!

it is my son's GF birthday today and I have bought her a pale green Zatchels satchel. She is going to be so happy when she wakes up. They both move out on Sunday so that leaves DH and I in a 4 bed house- we really need to consider a move in the next year.

Flowers for mig it sounds a horribly tough year for your family. I got a Burt's bees hand cream for my birthday from my little brother and it's lovely, have never used hand cream before Shock I meant to ask what you get in french pharmacies, were going to Biarritz this weekend (if we can get the car fixed in time) and I may venture in. I'm criminally low maintenance when it comes to skincare and need to start taking better care of myself, and you have such healthy looking skin!

I forgot to say my lily Pulitzer inspired Atterley road american vintage dress arrived and it is lovely but generous, however useful and fine with tights for now, I wore it to work last night with black tights, a navy john smedley cardigan taupe spirals and my dog-eaten LV scarf. Today the heavens have opened so it's a hush loungewear day.

anni that's (bag) lovely, will be so useful for holidays too. Brilliant bargain on the boots, I've never seen SE that cheap!!! Will look lovely with floaty dresses and tights too. Happy anniversary.

linus the parka is a great find! MNV is all about the bargains at the moment, isn't it?!

amber how did you get on with the leather shorts?

marsha your holiday sounds so lovely! welcome home. It must have been lovely getting your summer wardrobe an early airing.

I find myself in need of basic tees for summer, white, navy and grey. They need to be baggy around the tummy area, thin cotton and below the collarbone neckline, preferably round. Also have to be order able online and deliverable to Spain, max of £20 each. Any recommendations?! I am norky.
