It's been a while since I set one up so thought I'd do the honours.
For glass half full fashion fanatics. Bring a positive attitude, a love of clothes and lots of lovely links. All welcome, from high street to high end.

We had to do our bathroom the week we moved in.
That was fun Hmm
I'd spent ages planning everything though, and the neighbours got used to seeing me in my car, with my hair wrapped in a towel (had to use family's bathrooms for a month or so)

But am I right in thinking that your bathrooms are in the extension? So you'll still have one to use.

I second saying no pop up plugs, the man in the showroom thought I was bonkers wanting proper plugs on chains, but the pop up ones always break.

We have a lever flush on our loo too, as I hate those button ones (which also break and are grim to clean)

We got our suite from Bathstore. They have some mixed reviews online, but for our (small) budget, their sales were great.

I got my taps etc elsewhere though (screwfix)
And our fabulous shower online. We have a Mira realm with a diverter (it runs off the boiler, I hate electric showers) and it's over the roll top bath as we have no room for a separate one.

Annianni · 24/02/2014 19:01

I did find a fabulous tile range, think they were Italian.
I'll have a look later and see if I can find the name.

I went for classic metro tiles in the end as the nice ones would have completely blown my budget (and finished dh off, as he did the whole thing and we went back to bare brick, new floorboards, the lot)

What sort of look are you going for?

santamarianovella · 24/02/2014 19:08

dry it will help with costs,if you do both bathrooms at once, they can give you a good quote, also, what kind of look are you after? Modern? Classic? Country?

Drywhiteplease · 24/02/2014 19:25

Santa anni and anyone else who has any advice about bathrooms.I've set up a threadHere....don't want to bore the fashionistas on here with my plumbing issues. Would value your advice.

LinusDKD · 24/02/2014 19:27

We are going to change the shower/taps in our bathroom and the children's bathroom but apart from that we're not going to change much as the house was only built 8 years ago.

Oh yes, we do want to paint the bathrooms in a different colour as the previous owners seemd to like bright colours. Hmm

We will change some other things around the house but as it's not our Forever House we don't want to spend too much money.

I do really want to even out the textured walls because I really hate them and the floor in the hall and living room.

And DH wants to paint some of the walls in the kitchen fire engine red.
He even bought a red tester pot, I might try and 'lose' it.

Fedupnagging · 24/02/2014 20:23

Red walls in the kitchen will not be conducive to calm mealtimes Linus Grin so yes, definitely misplace that pot of paint.

Dry I have posted on your bathroom thread. How is the disco?

Marsha glad your suitcase turned up.

Mig I would like to design the perfect fit trousers for the vertically challenged size 12 woman. (ie me). Also, high heels that are like wearing slippers.

Have just placed my first AR order. Will post pics if I like it all.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 24/02/2014 20:25

We turned one normal sized bathroom and a cupboard sized bedroom into a huge bathroom.

The inbuilt cupboard in the bedroom became the boiler/washing machine/dryer cupboard. It is fab - no more walking up and down the stairs with big laundry baskets.

Double sink - I thought it was a bit silly but really like having "my" side.

We saved on taps and all that stuff, just got it from the Bathroom Store or similar. Splurged on the mock Victorian tiles and big windows. Even with the curtains closed tons of light get through.

The only thing I don't like is that our builder went spotlight crazy before I had even thought about lighting, and by then I was too frazzled with the whole house renovation to argue.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 24/02/2014 20:28

Sorry shop I have zero bathroom advice, never redone one. But your plans sound lovely, looking forward to seeing pins!

I know it's silly to feel inadequate looking at blogs - think it was just that I had been looking too much for a few days (need to step away from pinterest)! It's the street style ones that show "real" people that have that effect, Wendy and co don't bother me as it's their job and it's obvious how they can afford it all.

Had a parcel from the outnet today. J Brand sweatshirt is very nice and the zips are fun, so keeping. Chinti and Parker dress on the other hand I'm not sure about, it's lovely fabric but just doesn't feel "me". Not sure if it's the cuffs, neckline or what. Thought it might be the length on my little legs but I tried it with pistols and it just felt frumpy on me. So, undecided but it'll probably go back.

libertychick · 24/02/2014 23:10

Blair I tried a similar dress from M&S recently and despite great fabric etc felt it wasn't me either.

Quiet here tonight. I am totally in love with my new modalu bag. Used for the first time today. Fits everything so well and good handles make it easy to carry. And it's got that lovely new leather smell Smile

Today's fashion news - ordered some nude Falke tights waits to be kicked off thread I cannot contemplate bare legs for another few months yet and I am BORED of opaques.

And I have packed for my holidays - we go early Saturday morning. Can't wait....

MarshaBrady · 25/02/2014 05:36

Liberty how exciting re holiday. Bag sounds great.

Blair you have great style. Bet you look just as good.

We're still upside down. Ds1 doing homework at 5am. I was awake so early. Novice you must be very good at dealing with jet lag.

Dry no bathroom info here, but need to do some stuff too.

LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 07:06

Morning!

I was also up at 4.45 but no jetlag just teething DD! Yawn!

Trying to channel my inner Jenna Lyons with old preppy Polo Ralph Lauren shirt (white), American Vintage magenta jumper and TS Leigh skinnies.

All I need now are some NB's! Will probably wear my usual biker boots which spoils the look a bit.

The J Crew website has some lovely NB's in great colours but don't ship those outside the US. Sad

BrandyAlexander · 25/02/2014 07:28

Poor you MarshaBrew

I used to be able to cross time zones easily but really struggled the first half of last year. I am now careful about sleeping and eating (or not) on the plane to coincide with the time zone of destination. I also take Nytol and Bach Rescue Remedy when I want to sleep. Sure you're not supposed to use both but it's the only thing that works for me! It means I get back okay to two little ones who wouldn't care if I am jet lagged!Grin

MarshaBrady · 25/02/2014 07:56

Having wide-awake energetic dc at 5 is quite good. They go to sleep very easily. But I'd rather wake at 5 than 3. In a couple of days it should be perfect. Good tips.

Santa that one looks good, are you buying it?

Drywhiteplease · 25/02/2014 07:57

libertywhere you off to?

santamarianovella · 25/02/2014 09:04

marsha its actually lovely to be up early while everyone is a sleep, used to love that when DD was a newborn, but hated the getting up every 3 hours part! We got the nespresso ,last month,as dh loves lattes, but now we are trying to make Americano ,but its always weak, does anyone have tips? Which pod shall I use?

I returned the Charlotte Olympia espadrilles ,anni kindly linked, they are beautiful, but big,I'm 38.5,and I ordered the 39. Tried to get the 38, but they are all sold out

Did anyone see pictures of Simon and his baby at the beach? What in god's name were they thinking!babies are not allowed to travel before 3weeks,and his partner looks like a wack job! Very clingy,

Annianni · 25/02/2014 09:59

I need help please...

I have a measly £50 budget for our anniversary next week.
(we're talking about doing the extension in the summer, so no spending for a while)
Dh will be off work, so we'll be going out for lunch.

On my list of things I need are this vest and this one but 2 vests for an anniversary gift seem a bit weird to me.

I do like this coat which is a smidge over budget :o

And I like it in the navy too, but I recently got this bargain navy coat so I probably don't need 2 navy coats...

We're going shopping today, for a look in Zara and I want to try some NB's on too... which could then be a possible gift.

Any other suggestions?
I don't need any perfume at the moment and i'm ok for creams etc.

Annianni · 25/02/2014 10:00

Shame about those shoes Santa, they were lovely.

LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 10:08

My Boden bargain cashmere jumpers finally arrived and I'm not sure they suit me.

I have just quickly tried them on (DC are at home) and they feel nice but I'm not sure the colours suit me.

The iris is lovely and the striped one with pink collar as well but I wont be able to wear a shirt underneath as the size 10 is a bit on the small side. Fine with nothing underneath though.

At this price I will keep them though and if I decide they're not for me I'll give them to DM or DSis.

SecretSquirrel13 · 25/02/2014 11:00

Marsha we have the delonghi magnifica it makes lovely coffee, I am not very good with the frother yet though.
Dry I am off to the post office, finally!
No shopping news, going to read the bathroom thread later.

LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 11:08

Hi anni, what is your anniversary this year?

Ours was wool so I got something cashmere (forgotten what exactly Blush ) from DH and I bought him a R Lauren merino jumper (v hard to find in June!)

LinusDKD · 25/02/2014 11:11

Just checked, this year it's bronze Shock

Better start googling bronze shoes and accessories!

Umlauf · 25/02/2014 11:18

Hello all, I've been in London all last week visiting family, a little bit of shopping and a mumsnet antenatal club meetup which was lovely! I needed new perfume so bought the Balenciaga (you know I love him...) florabotanica as a change and it's lovely. I stopped wearing perfume after the birth and I forgot how nice it is to wear!

linus the bargain boden cashmere was one of the little parcels waiting for me at my mums house, and I do admit to being a little disappointed. I got the stripes one which fits snugly and isn't largely flattering, but will keep for skiing. I also got those leopard boots everyone seemed to miss out on and they are wonderful!

I popped into town yesterday, they are building the biggest Zara in the world apparently. The town centre is a dusty mess. The smaller zara has some beautiful tropical prints in green, I love green!

Annianni · 25/02/2014 11:19

It'll be our 4th anniversary.

Last year dh bought me shoes, so we don't exactly go by the years thing :o
