shopafrolic · 19/02/2014 11:30

No PM :(

BecauseIsaidS0 · 19/02/2014 11:31

Sorry sorry sorry! sending now.

shopafrolic · 19/02/2014 11:40

Thanks Because I don't think I could handle the pressure of all that glam! :)

shopafrolic · 19/02/2014 11:42

Help me out please. We have booked a week away to a holiday cottage on a website called Baby Friendly Boltholes. The booking confirmation stated a total price and no mention of any extra costs. Cue email from the owners asking for payment for our booking, they have asked for an additional £150 refundable deposit in case of damage to the property.
I've complained to Baby Friendly Boltholes (who are looking into it) but they say this is quite common in rental properties. I completely get that some owners require deposits, my issue is that it wasn't stated at the time of booking. Looking at their website they have now amended this property to show a £150 refundable deposit.
Anyone know where I stand on this? DH is saying if they won't stick to the price we're not going :(

BecauseIsaidS0 · 19/02/2014 12:17

Uhm, why can't they make the £150 as part of the total price? as in, they take £150 now and when you leave they charge you for the difference or the total price if you've damaged something.

SecretSquirrel13 · 19/02/2014 12:19

Shop yes this is really common and we've always received it back without any problems.
Dry exciting day, enjoy!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 19/02/2014 12:30

Thanks Because! I seem to recall reading some really dirty gossip on the same person, on here, must have been a celebrity gossip thread, but can only remember vague details - it was nasty though! No doubt I'll never find it by searching... annoying!

shop does it say anywhere on the website in general that all properties require a refundable deposit? Or only on each property page? Irritating that they have changed it now... they must realise they were in the wrong. But I suppose the deposit is more for the owner's peace of mind... It looks as though the company have messed up somewhere though.

Hi all

been travelling with work & bit busy so not much time for MN or shopping.

But Blair just saw your q re the Bentley dress. I bought this in Christmas sales and ended returning it as I didn't think there were enough places I could wear it to. Too sexy for work IMO (tho I did buy red so that could be part of it) and rather clingy, only really good for evening wear.

I got a small which fitted (am a size 4 in their wrap dresses) but was tight. I went into their shops a few days later & was asking about it, and they said it is meant to be tight & clingy and small was the right size for me. HTh

Am on a hunt for some decent flats at lunch today after likking myself wearing heels for 15hrs at a conference last week.

Shop we've booked with Baby friendly boltholes before. I think we did pay a £150 deposit but think it was taken out of the original payment rather than additional. Sounds a bit odd.

shopafrolic · 19/02/2014 12:48

Stokey we've used BFB twice before and never been asked for a deposit. I get that some owners may want you to pay a deposit but it should have been stated at the time of booking (the deposit takes us over budget for the holiday and even though it's refundable DH is playing hardball and saying no).
They have now changed the booking page to show cost for the week, and then the extra £150 but they agree this wasn't there when we booked.
It's taken me about a month to persuade DH that we all need a holiday, and now he's saying no because they aren't standing by what they quoted. I could bloody well scream.

QueenCadbury · 19/02/2014 12:57

Shop I've never had to pay a refubdable deposit and have stayed in loads of cottages. Never booked with bfb though. Continue to play hardball for a bit because if they're desperate to rent out then they'll let you off. Otherwise maybe you could negotiate a lower depisit?

Pretty please could someone pass on the pm

santamarianovella · 19/02/2014 13:29

Oh please me too! I'm having a rough time with the dcs, and some dirty gossip is what I need,

shop we haven't stayed in a rented cottage for a while now,but I'm pretty sure they must state any extra payment on web page or by email,

I must say that your ds is doing, well so far, it will be over soon.and we still use pull ups for some outings as she still can't control pee for a long period of time, and when she says she need to pee it means right this instant so we must hurry to the loo.which is not always available when walking down the street not to mention most toilets are filthy! So its either no drinks during our time out,and making sure she pees before going out.

Drywhiteplease · 19/02/2014 13:36

I'm going in ladies....I'm going in!!!!
Doing well so far.... I pair of v all jeans, 2 sweaters......

shopafrolic · 19/02/2014 13:37

Nice one Dry I need some live shopping to cheer me up!

LinusDKD · 19/02/2014 13:59

No pm either! Sad

LinusDKD · 19/02/2014 14:01

shop never booked with bfb but have always had to pay refundable deposit for cottages/villas/apartments.

But they should mention it beforehand!

libertychick · 19/02/2014 14:12

Shop I leave all the holiday stuff to DH so haven't a clue about deposits. Hope you get it sorted and can go on holiday.

Can I get the gossipy pm too please? Smile

Blair would you mind pm'ing me the details of the person who did your sister's hair if they are London based? The person I have found it supposed to be good but is hard to get an apt with for various reasons.

Dry - blimey, jeans and 2 sweaters and a Gucci!! Expecting a good update later.

Good work dry. Making up for last time I like it. Told dh about ordering cardi and now I feel guilty that he said he's worried about paying for holiday and houserepairs.

Am currently at a huge soft play centre.

Drywhiteplease · 19/02/2014 14:57

I'm bringing my new baby home!
Mission accomplished. And an absolutely fabulous sales assistant who thought I was incredibly decisive lol! Will update later.... Forgot glasses , can read text or prices...... Will DH buy it?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 19/02/2014 15:00

Liberty unfortunately he is based in Birmingham, which isn't local to her either, but she hadn't heard of anyone else offering the same service so travelled to him anyway (our other sister does live there so that helped with the decision). There have been a few threads mentioning curly hairdressers lately though so a search might help?
This is him though just in case.

Dry hurry up! Wink

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 19/02/2014 15:01

Ooooh x post - yay! Grin

Annianni · 19/02/2014 15:15

Yay Dry!!!
Hide the receipt and halve the price :o

I've tried the Frames on again, and they are nice.
But they're almost identical in colour to my Hudson Mays.
If I had unlimited funds, then I'd keep them as they are lovely.

I think I'd like the le garcon in a lighter wash.

Need to visit Selfridges, see if they have the pair that's on Shopbop.

Drywhiteplease · 19/02/2014 15:17

Am reading holding phone at as length like a bloody granny!
shop that's annoying. Hard to prove though if you don't have it in writing. Hope DH doesn't camcel, you need a break.
"Dirty gossip" I wouldn't stoop so low please pm me someone Grin

Annianni · 19/02/2014 15:21
