I think it goes beyond just buying/non buying because they won't know why we are doing this. Making sure you buy magazines when they feature non Caucasian models, contacting magazines, fashion companies telling them why you are or are not choosing their products, joining some of the pressure groups - these are some of the options. I don't think choosing to buy from a company such as Prada/Vuitton/Gucci makes you racist BTW.

These designers breathe such rarified air with everybody fawning over them that until they suffer a fall from grace a la Galliano, they really have NO idea what 'other' peoples ideas and mores are about.

Most of my favourite models are not white- Joan Smalls, Chanel Iman, Alec Wek (absolute fave of mine), Veronica Webb.... I buy Vogue every month so obviously not the casual browser of the shelves that they worry might be 'disinclined' to buy a magazine with a black model (Just WHERE do they get these ideas from in 2014?). Vogue Italy did an 'All Black' Vogue edition that I don't know whether to see a progressive or ghettoisation....

Morning all - I am going stir crazy. Day 3 in the potty training house - must get fresh air today! It's going well, but not overly confident on a trip to the shops as yet.....

DH is super stressing about ££ at the moment so I won't be doing any shopping for a while but will keep checking in.

(Btw I bought Porter magazine and am reading it bit by bit - feels like better value than devouring in one sitting! Am enjoying it, I really liked the story about the feminist art.)

Hello. Am away but have checked in quickly on my phonr.happy gucci day dry. Had to nip to sainsbury yesterday as forgot to pack socks for dd. Bought a cotton white top for myself. Will see if I can find a link for it when home tomorrow. Also ordered a cardigan from BR before I left as had a discount code. Hoping it doesn't get delivered today whilst I'm away and dh finds it. May have to send him a text and warn him that his dw had been naughty yet again!

I really don't understand why magazines/designers think that people buying their goods won't buy them because they use a black man or woman in their advertising/catwalk etc.

mig - yes it feels fresh and intelligent. Having said that, I hardly buy magazines these days because I can't stand the usual suspects (Glamour, Cosmo, Red etc) that market themselves as for people with "normal" budgets and yet have fallen prey to the need for advertising revenue and therefore fill their pages with high end stuff. Don't even get me started on the articles on relationships and sex tips.

I really like Stylist magazine (free on tube) but rarely get to read it, only when I'm in central London for work. The other one I read is Asos magazine (also free) but it's really aimed at teenagers and I've hardly ever heard of any of the artists/bands they feature

Stylist magazine is really good! Confession time: I offered myself up for one of those '9 to 5' features because at the time I had a pretty interesting working day and they snubbed me a bit. Apart from that...who replies to an email to someone they don't know well starting with "Hey there"???

My hair is roughly twice the size of my head this morning. I don't know what's happened, until about four months ago I had poker straight hair and now it's somewhere between wavy and curly with a bucket load of frizz!!

Back from gym. Dressed (animal print, camel,black and bf jeans....no socks because I'm that kind of woman)....I'm off to buy a new handbag!!!!!!
