Calling on style and fashion fanatics, this is the space for frivolity and fun (though it gets a bit tense at sales time) Wink. All welcome.

Thank you all. Will go a hunting!

Queen I kind of envy you having children young enough to go to play farms. I do miss that.

Yes Sophie's Paso dress was lovely and Abbie's with the ribbon around her dropped waist and that beautiful neckline embroidery.

Marsha You must both be so tired! But glad it went well and I loved those balloons you pinned.

My daughter just texted me a photo of some T shirts she bought from Berska (sp?) the Spanish brand in the loveliest pastels and soft gem colours- a silver metallic; rose gold metallic, soft pink, peach, pastel blue and dove grey. They look wonderful. I want. This Winter I haven't been inspired to buy much but the lovely pastels of S/S 14- I am wanting them very much and very flattering too. The pastel pinks and blues are just 'off' enough to not be sickly or baby like. The blues are those cold grey/blues and the pinks are what they used to term' Ashes of Roses' in the 40's. The grey is a really soft Dove and good to see Eau De Nil is back. One of my most beloved shades.

Oh god just realised I thought her last name was paso. Not a dance. I know S EB but clearly don't watch Strictly Grin.

True Shop has no idea! But likes the I&I jumper (said something dodgy about that too now I think about it Confused).

Would that be a seasonal orange/clove Pomander Shop? It's not ruined is it?

What S/S clothing inspires YOU- as in a collective you. Any colours you want to try? Styles?

Queen -there are plenty of icy shades; in fact the cool tones are the ones that will be fashionable- Primrose/Cowslip yellow and cream. Foxglove-that cool blue-pink. Eau De Nil tends towards the cool also.

So you will be able to partake!

Marsha That made me laugh.

I haven't read much about s/s stuff so not sure yet what to expect. I should imagine after Christmas that grazia will do a feature on it. Aside from pastels mig what styles can we expect?

Not ruined mig just pitted and clawed at! That'll teach me for leaving it (unlit!!!) at toddler height.
Spring not good for us Autumns, no idea what the gaps in my wardrobe are yet. I still have knitwear to buy!

I love Sophie (those cheekbones!) but I do admit to having a soft spot for Abbie.

Yes, she is ditzy but she seems so genuine and nice. And she dances beautifully. Stop putting fillers in your lips though, you are stunning as it is.

shop pomander is burning at the moment in Maison Linus as well.

DH and I exchanged Christmas gifts tonight as we like to be just the two of us when we do. We are leaving

He bought me a lovely Hermès enamel bracelet I have been lusting after for a while.

'Only' one prezzie this year as he has ordered a Cartier watch for me to celebrate the birth of DD (she's nearly 14 months old but it has taken me this long to find a watch I like) and that has taken a big chunk out of his budget.

I think pastels will need to be icy for me too queenc

mig glad you are ok. It is always good to trust your instincts in those situations.

Still not had a proper catch-up. Blush

this bracelet

I know it is quite classical and not to everyone's taste but I plan on stacking it with some gold bangles.

I just love the clacking sound it makes. Grin

Double Breasted jackets are back for SS in elongated below the butt lines, slouchy and not corporate. No brass buttons in these versions and keep the bottoms streamlined and tailored.

Stella is doing a collarless double breasted coat dress that I suspect will be much copied.

Waist cinching circle skirts worn to the knee will be in evidence although I can imagine much clinging onto above knee straighter styles. Seems to be a lot of cowl necks, roll necks and polo necks too plus cropped tops in neoprene style fabrics worn tight but with interesting necklines to make them modern and less Wham! Cropped sweaters are already out there now. Lots of greys and browns for late Winter, Safari shades that you should pair with really bright accessories such as deep pink with camel.

Matching shoes and bag prints are in Vogue this month too! And I think the new motif will be Butterflies, parts of flower and plants (like botanical anatomy) and tread patterns. Owls will still be about though- too cute to let go although not cutting edge and I predict a return of Snoopy!

Old fashioned Italian Ice Cream colours abound- that bright sea green, pink and Neapolitan chocolate worn in edge to edge knitwear/jackets with bandeaus or crop tops underneath. Aqua in a cooler tone. Sun-Ray pleated skirts worn to the knee in Quality Street strawberry pinks (Vogue) worn with Clotted cream edge to edge rever collar coats belted with thin self colour leather belts.

Pared back Bomber jackets reinterpreted in Neoprene, Cashmere and other techni fabrics worn with full skirts. Think Pink Ladies crossed with Sandy.

Green as Emerald, Eau De Nil and Peppermint. Trapeze bags in Butterfly wing shades and slider flat shoes with a flash of bright colour on the tread. Primrose leather totes and envelope flap clutches. The flash of colour in linings, trimmings and straps.

Trapeze shaped shift dresses. Think Olga Cassini for Jackie O. That's the JFK anniversary coming into play i think. Modern them up in acidic pastels like soft lime and those butterfly/birds wing shades of Kingfisher and Emerald.

Pants- slouchy loose with flare in pale pale shades. Jumpsuits especially strapless and bandeau. Off the shoulder and Bateau necked tops with dropped waist Midi skirts with inverted pleat flares. Go Monochrome for this, good old black and white but light bottoms, dark tops. Chloe has Cady pants in that 70's YSL shape, loose flare with side pockets and high fitted waistbands almost with a frontal yoke.

Lanvin has washed silk long T shirt dresses-very 90's but with curved hems. Short T sleeves in white and cream. There will also be slip dresses and a reinterpretation of the Narcisso Rodriguez slip dress like the one Carolyn Bessette wore to marry JFK Junior plus of course the classic Calvin Klein slip dress brought back.

Then there is what I see as the Prairie Girl mixed in with the Parisien Marant look. Lots of rolled cuff skinny jeans and cut offs worn with Peter Pan collared pleat yolked blouses in washed ginghams, Liberty Tana Lawns and Chambrays. Think classic man's City shirt in blue chambray with white cuffs and collar but with a pleated gathered yoke over the bustline to make it girlie. Wear with classic snaffled loafers or saddle shoes.

Those forties style USA housecoat prints, the bands of floral stripes on a pastel background are back too- Rochas has done these as shirtwaister dresses but if you look closely, the floral sprig is actually a geometric print so more modern. High waisted dark denim shorts worn with tight fitted tucked in top and neck scarf looks very Alaia. Very Stephanie Seymour.

Gosh mig you really know your stuff and write so well. Out of all that I look forward to the emerald and the Peter Pan collar blouses.

Report
Mignonette · 14/12/2013 21:43

Thank you Queen. I hadn't read that trend report and it makes for interesting reading.

Yes, emerald will suit you and I like the idea of flashes of it just as one would find on a butterfly wing.

I think you'd suit Peter Pan collars. They are so flattering too under sweaters, jackets and worn with cuffed jeans and sharp flat shoes (or small heeled sling backs).
