Calling on style and fashion fanatics, this is the space for frivolity and fun (though it gets a bit tense at sales time) Wink. All welcome.

Liberty it's snug and slim-fit. Go for it! The arms are short 3/4, I don't mind but just so you know. It's very nice to wear.

Ds2 sleepily watching Finding Nemo and dh walks in with a box of quality street. Now he's full of beans on a choc. Silly!

MarshaBrady · 25/12/2013 20:24

Actually looking at it again it's pretty obvious the sleeves are short Grin. Probably because dh exclaimed how little it looked and how short the sleeves were when I unwrapped it. If you get your usual size it will be as on model, size up if you'd like looser than that if that makes sense .

Mignonette · 25/12/2013 20:26

Hi Liberty

Goodness that is a lot of activities for somebody not well yet. Hope you get to relax now. I use this recipe for hot buttered rum-

1 tsp unsalted butter, softened
1 tsp maple syrup
½ tsp ground allspice
50ml/2fl oz golden rum (any well rounded rum will do)
apple juice, warmed, to top up
cinnamon stick, to garnish
freshly grated nutmeg, to garnish

Place the butter into a heatproof coffee glass.
Add the maple syrup, allspice and rum.
Top up the glass with warmed apple juice and mix with a spoon until the butter has melted and emulsified in the liquid (like mixing a salad dressing).
Using a lighter or gas hob, lightly warm the cinnamon stick (be careful not to burn it). Add the cinnamon stick as a stirrer and garnish with fresh grated nutmeg.

This will cure most anythings and if it doesn't-at least you will no longer care!

We have our candle burning (a Calvin Klein fir) as a little lighted reminder of all those absent friends and those for whom this time of year is not the happiest.

Those silver ornaments sounds beautiful Liberty. How lovely.

All my love to all of you.

libertychick · 25/12/2013 21:13

Hmmm I think I'll leave it Marsha thanks for all the details. I am feeling a bit too muffinish for anything close fitting ATM.

Thanks for the recipe Mig. I haven't quite got the ingredients so I have just made my own version lossely based on yours by heating up apple juice with a mulled wine sachet thing I found in the back of the cupboard dated from about 3 Christmases ago, salted butter, maple syrup and bacardi!! It has got nutmeg grated on top - very nice, very sweet!

Mig These are the silver decorations. She sent me a couple of the cupids hearts ones, a snowflake, a christmas tree, and a couple of stars - one with a nativity scene - they are really gorgeous.

Sorry I'm also checking in late, have been out all day at MIL's. Have had a lovely day, had loads of nice pressies and get to do it all again tomorrow when my son comes Xmas Grin

Thanks for absent friends

Mignonette · 25/12/2013 21:29

They are beautiful Liberty. I so love getting decorations. I got a Snoopy and Charlie Brown, a Flamingo driving a pink convertible with a palm tree in it (!), a bell circle, a red sequin peacock and a Moomintroll. I like random stuff too.

Your cocktail sounds wonderful too. Making them up is great. Heated Chambord makes a good toddy too. Tastes almost medicinal in a childhood hot Ribena way. The person who invents an alcoholic version of Lucozade will coin it I think!

I had some cool gifts. My daughter bought me an acid yellow leather A4 notebook - absolutely mind blowingly gorgeous with a neon pink liner and strap. Plus two Moleskine reporter notebooks! Dh got me some French Cahiers for my stocking- old school style writing books which I have such a thing for. Lined and squared paper.

My son bought me a bag full of American food products-very thoughtful of him. DH added Lanolips banana lip balm and their hand cream, pure Vanilla paste, Chanel bruise-blue eye shadow and a new Mac Russian Red lipstick. I have a new box of Caran D'Ache drawing and colouring pencils and new watercolour pencils too. My stocking gifts were amazing- six of us crammed onto our bed opening in a frenzy with the dog totally buried under the paper.

Drywhiteplease · 25/12/2013 21:33

Why why why did I hit the turkey and stuffing again? Sent me over the edge......blotus position with a Baileys now Xmas Grin

LinusDKD · 25/12/2013 21:40

I am in the Blotus postion too after DMIL's turkey !

But before we could sit down for dinner we had to take DS to A&E to have some stitches put in his chin as he bashed it on the edge of the bath. Sad

libertychick · 25/12/2013 21:43

Your gifts sound great Mig. I love Moleskin notebooks - use them for work and always have one in my handbag for random scribbles. Mac Russian Red lippy was the only thing on the list I sent DH that he didn't get!

Dry Bailey's is very good for 'blotus' Xmas Grin. What did DH get you - I have been dying to know how 'off piste' he went and if there is another VWgate(esque) tale to tell?

Oh no Linus is he ok? Poor lamb - what a horrible end to Christmas day for you all Flowers

OneLittleLady · 25/12/2013 21:45

Oh no! Poor DS linus I hope he's not in pain

Mignonette · 25/12/2013 21:53

Oh Linus poor little fellow. What a horrid way to spend his Christmas. I hope he didn't find the suturing too traumatic. Sad

Liberty Moleskine notebooks help me indulge my secret Hemingway fantasies. I imagine myself writing short pithy sentences that summon up the hopes and fears of a generation.

Instead of shopping lists and book lists.

LinusDKD · 25/12/2013 22:05

He's ok now. He was so brave when they put the local anaesthetic in and the stitches, but it did hurt and he did cry.

It is a Christmas I will remember!

Mignonette · 25/12/2013 22:06

Sad. Bless him. It is heartbreaking when they try to be brave.

Drywhiteplease · 25/12/2013 22:06

linus poor you! a trip to A+E on Christmas, poor DS.
liberty ......4 tickets to see Robbie Williams! Bloody brilliant present, total surprise, perhaps me saying when the tour dates were announced "if you go to see Rw with clients and not me I WILL divorce you" helped Xmas Grin row not everyones cuppa I know, but he's great live. V pleased.

OneLittleLady · 25/12/2013 22:09

Dp thought I was going to be upset because he bought me a hairbrush but it was the very Denmans bristle brush I've been wanting to buy myself and I'm not upset in the slightest. I know I have a 'big' present coming at the end of January which he keeps apologising for it not being here already but he can't help it!

libertychick · 25/12/2013 22:12

Great present Dry, my DB and SIL have gone to see him several times.
Bed for me - night all.

We saw him play Milton Keynes Bowl circa 'Sing When You're Winning' time. Great showman. Not my cup of tea musically but very enjoyable show all the same.

Am waiting for Bowie to announce one last tour.

Annianni · 25/12/2013 22:47

Hello all...

Poor ds Linus, hope he's ok.

Dh took Ds2 scooting while I cooked dinner and he came back with a rather large scrape on his forehead... Ds2 that was, not dh!

We've had a lovely lazy day.

Just frightened the life out of myself though, watching Wake wood on the iPlayer.
Has anyone seen it?
Bit gory for the bbc, I kept hiding behind my hand.

I saw Robbie years ago, during his chubby drugged up days. He flashed his arse and rode round the stage on a mechanical toilet but it was a good concert :o

QueenCadbury · 26/12/2013 07:14

Morning. Apart from poor linus ds it sounds like we all had a lovely day.

I got my barbour jacket, chocolate fountain and a new charm. The dc had an absolutely wonderful, day and it was pretty magical. Today we are I've skating with friends so I shall we wearing old clothes in case I fall over Xmas Grin.

I shall set up the next addition....
