Calling on style and fashion fanatics, this is the space for frivolity and fun (though it gets a bit tense at sales time) Wink. All welcome.

Thanks heaps btw. Back later to catch up.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 20/12/2013 19:35

I'm doing Waitrose tonight Anni. They're open until 10 so I'm doing the Christmas food shop at 8pm as I hate it. We are having a bunch here for drinks on Sun night, so food required (I've already bought the drink) and as we're having Christmas/Boxing day with my family, I don't need to go too crazy with the food for home. Well, that's what I'm saying now...

QueenCadbury · 20/12/2013 20:19

Getting it delivered is the only way to do Christmas food shopping. Mine came yesterday so just need to get last minute fresh bits when I pick up the turkey on Tuesday.

We're having a party here tomorrow for a few friends and kids. Shall I wear sequin top or sequin cardi?

Drywhiteplease · 20/12/2013 21:19

HALLELUIA!!!!! I survived, I'm alive, I'm on HOLIDAY!!!!!

Evening all........

Ooooh great bag porn what
bacause lure Spanish? Interesting........umlauf will love that.
Santa great day! Funny too.
Foxy I actually think it takes a week for a new hair cut to bed in.......hope you had a good party! outfit sounded great.

If anyone has a 12-16 yr old girl to buy for this is the "best present ever" according to DS ( I got it for half that price at Argos) .......she's spent ages tonight curling and crimping. Fab.

Party tomorrow ....yey!

Drywhiteplease · 20/12/2013 21:30

Good luck Shop

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 20/12/2013 22:24

Back from Waitrose, still alive.

I'm shattered and a couple hundred quid lighter, but at least I don't have to do much more. Unfortunately it's a little too far from Christmas to get away without having to go out for anything at all, but the main stuff is done, thank goodness.

About to crash and burn, so g'night all - back bright eyed and bushy tailed yeah right tomorrow. x

Mignonette · 20/12/2013 23:43

Hi all.

Santa That sounded epic. Tell her its not if she finds the boys cute but whether they find her and sitting around waiting for her Prince (s) to come is not very cool these days.

We are shopping in several stages. We are at the market at 8 a.m tomorrow for fruit, veg, cheese, eggs and other bits. Then off to Waitrose for non perishables. Then tomorrow morning or Monday, Aldi for excellent cheap booze, crisps, cheap frozen Lobster and other stuff. Finally a last Waitrose run for bread, milk and a few other bits. In and out, fast and swift. ha. I need to buy a couple more gifts- something for my son, something for husbands Mother, something for my nephew and from my son to nephew.

We have to drive to Norfolk tomorrow afternoon to bring the gifts up. Then Sunday evening we have friends over for supper then all off to the pub. Am doing massive Chile with cornbread muffins, Guacamole, home made Tortillas and all the bits. Cheesecake for pudding as requested by friends husband. She is bringing over a delectable Austrian poppy seed and cream torte.

I baked this afternoon- two dozen Blueberry, golden raisin and allspice muffins which will be frozen for Christmas Day breakfast/brunch. I then used ready rolled puff pastry to make dozens of fig, apple and mincemeat Palmiers-really easy and quick. Will freeze half of them too. Made Parmesan cheese wafers for Sunday and some mini cornbread muffins to hollow out and fill with chile like the Waitrose ones which are 6,99 for 12 and a total rip off. My friend in South Carolina sends me Bob Mills stoneground grits and cornmeal which is superb for these and for stirring into chile to give that corn flavour. Have been a busy girl today.

I need to scrub the house -it looks so dusty as have been too rushed to do much other than kitchen/bathroom. Floor needs mopping and polishing.

Finally we wrapped about 50 gifts tonight for 5 kids and all my relatives. Phew. Tired reading all that.

Have a lovely trip Linus and good night and love to you all

xx

Mignonette · 20/12/2013 23:45

Writing driving to Norfolk to 'bring the gifts up' sounds like I am vomiting presents!

Not so much that as haemorrhaging money. Xmas Grin

QueenCadbury · 21/12/2013 07:39

30% off womens clothing at m&s today...

LinusDKD · 21/12/2013 09:06

Morning!

We arrived safe and sound after an uneventful trip. Bit tired because DD was up at 6.30 and I didn't fall asleep until 2!

The Decanter Saga continues. I had ordered a new one from Amazon after JL messed up my order.

It arrived at DPIL a couple of days ago, so far so good. But when I opened it this morning, it was broken! Angry

So I'll have to send stroppy e-mail no 206 of the festive season and demand another refund!

Drywhiteplease · 21/12/2013 09:14

Mig and Grumpy well done on your food prep. Grumpy awards for most dedicated hostess....supermarket at 10pm!!!!! Mig fancy bringing out a Christmas cook book? Baking sounds delicious.
I'm very jammy....we're away at SIL's for Christmas so all I'm doing is bringing the Christmas cake, stuffing and some booze.......feels a bit odd not cooking a turkey and doing all the usual prep, but it will be relaxing!
Linus glad your journey went well.

AmberNectarine · 21/12/2013 09:26

Advice needed - I have found a decently discounted pair of Marant wedge trainers, which I have loved for ages (indeed ordered and only sent back because of the price) - but are they a bit passé now?

Drywhiteplease · 21/12/2013 09:45

Not the person to ask.....but, my advice would be, snap them up before they go, mull it over and see what others say and return if you decide agains them (if it's free returns).

BecauseIsaidS0 · 21/12/2013 10:01

I think they will still be 'in' this year, at least through the summer I reckon.

foxysocks · 21/12/2013 10:27

amber they suit you so well and you love them. that's all that matters. you have your own style and it's fab so trust yourself and get them! #enabling

foxysocks · 21/12/2013 10:32

i am SLIGHTLY hungover, but considering my first glass of prosecco was at 3pm and my last at 10pm i am patting myself on the back for two parties well played. wasn't too pissed, drank slowly with tactical glasses of water in between. barely ate all day but nevermind, means I feel more slinky for tonight Grin

sequin tee was much admired and i met some fab people, at the second party esp. lots of yoga love which is always nice and was just lovely to be out with DH at my side [soppy]

panicking about outfits for tonight. it's dresses - black viv w, black reiss ruched, navy embellished??? help! also thinking i NEED a red lipstick - is mac ruby woo that really lovely shade?

ordered a fun teatowel (shoot me NOW #middleage) for SIL - we don't do presents but she'll love it so i had to grab it - www.johnlewis.com/green-and-co-wine-teatowel-grey/p231802193

BecauseIsaidS0 · 21/12/2013 10:37

For a second there, I read "lots of yoga" and I thought "drunken yoga...this is my kind of gal Grin"

foxysocks · 21/12/2013 10:39

haha! i have actually been known to do drunken yoga, but only with my besties in my own sitting room!

BecauseIsaidS0 · 21/12/2013 10:40

Nothing like sticking a leg behind your head in a crowded bar...not that I've ever done anything like that Xmas Hmm

OneLittleLady · 21/12/2013 10:51

Morning all. I am currently watching a live stream of my DS playing minecraft! Not how I imagined starting this morning but it's nice, he's singing along to his music and explaining to me how things in minecraft work because obviously, Mum wouldn't understand Xmas Grin

BrandyAlexander · 21/12/2013 11:58

Morning! Just a quick hello. Mad few days. I left work on Wednesday in middle of meeting as almost passed out and also struggled the last couple of days but feeling fine today. Doing the last of my shopping. I am exhausted! Amber, happy birthday for yesterdayThanksThanksThanks will catch up on board later. Kisses to all!

Turquoiseblue · 21/12/2013 12:10

Morning
Thanks for opinions on PS- I know it s probably flammable Smile and not to everyone s taste but I tried it on with opaque s and heels and it works , it s one of those you need to see in real life! Love it.
Novice you poor thing , I hope you re ok. It sounds like you really need a break. Just read through tread and hope your dsis is ok.
Belated birthday to amber too, I don't know about wedge trainers, I think hey will be around next year summer / spring maybe, but and if they fit your style as dry says snap them up and try on and see.

QueenCadbury · 21/12/2013 12:25

I'm finally feeling festive Xmas Smile. And feeling happy as I've had my hair cut-it was so desperate for it.

Have also bought loads of stuff from the local produce market. Absolutely gorgeous local cheese which is a cross between Brie and Camembert. Yum. Also ale, cider and sprouts! Just now getting ready for our party. Need to make a cous cous salad and put my chocolate house together!

amber if you think you'll wear them lots buy them.

Drywhiteplease · 21/12/2013 12:34

foxy am having similar outfit dilemma . Can feel a big try on session coming on, one of those where clothes get flung all over the bedroom !!!!
because never done drunken yoga in public but I think I did an impressive Zumba routine at the school ball a couple of years ago!!!![ fshock]

Opinions on fake tan in December? Is it just better to go pale an interesting pasty with sleeveless top?

Drywhiteplease · 21/12/2013 12:35

QueenC don't mention cheese, you know it does weird things to me Xmas Grin
