Calling on style and fashion fanatics, this is the space for frivolity and fun (though it gets a bit tense at sales time) Wink. All welcome.

Linus

Make a BIG FUSS as JL will make amends.

One

Fingers crossed.

I am getting Christmas anxiety now. Stepson just says 'Don't know' when we ask what he wants. I know he wants money so he can spend it on fags and booze so am stubbornly refusing to play ball and insisting he thinks of something Angry. I still need to get stocking gifts for two people. I gave up on Christmas baking, haven't done any food shopping yet and am starting to think I really cannot be arsed with the whole thing. Too much pressure.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 16/12/2013 11:12

Good morning ladies! I ventured into Selfridges yesterday, ostensibly to buy Christmas gifts. Walked out with a cashmere jumper and a cardigan from All Saints
Couldn't find them on the website to link here, but they are just neutral, useful to throw on in winter kind of things.

BrandyAlexander · 16/12/2013 11:13

Morning everyone, thank you so much for your hugs. Means a lot. Normally, my capacity to deal with a million and one things at once is quite high, but I think with all the things school related on top, plus the new house and I think it feels like the last card on the house of cards about to go down :(

I am working from home today so that's one good thing at least.

OneLittleLady · 16/12/2013 11:13

I've had Christmas anxiety for weeks Mig it doesn't help that my sisters (twins) birthdays are tomorrow so I've had that to shop for as well. I'm hoping that once this week is over I'll actually have some Christmas cheer instead of anxiety! I have stubbornly decided that if people don't like their gifts, it's TOUGH!!

BrandyAlexander · 16/12/2013 11:20

Mig, thank you so much for the kind offer. If you gather stuff then let me know, and I will pm you my address. I (well the charity) will pay for your postage costs so it won't cost you any money by the way!

Mignonette · 16/12/2013 11:26

Will gather clothing over Christmas and then contact you Novice. Son is moving bedrooms so good opportunity for a clear out. I don't mind paying the postage BTW.

LinusDKD · 16/12/2013 11:37

mig I have sent JL a stroppy e-mail to say how dissapointed I am.

I have found the same decanter on Amazon so I ordered it. It should be delivered between 20 and 28th December so might not be in time for Christmas but fingers crossed it will be.

QueenCadbury · 16/12/2013 12:28

linus that's poor. JL are normally so good. Why are so many companies unable to meet their demand this year?

I'm not feeling the Christmas spirit yet either. So much to do that I'm actually burying my head in the sand. I just can't be arsed. I wish with my ILs that we only bought for the dc although BIL would moan at that as he doesn't have any kids but it's just so stressful everyone trying to come up with ideas and then buying tat that no one wants.

Like you liberty I'm trying to tell myself that it's only one day and that I have to food shop anyway so I just need to order a bit a lot extra. I also volunteered to do the new year food order for 13 of us. Beginning to regret that now!

novice are bras any good to you? I've got a few in my old size that are too good to just be chucked away.

OneLittleLady · 16/12/2013 12:34

Novice are erm...larger sized clothes any good to you? I won't be offended if they aren't, just thought I'd ask before I got rid of them.

BrandyAlexander · 16/12/2013 12:44

One larger sized clothes are much more useful than the stuff I sent! Grin. I suffered the indignity of being told last night that most of my clothes would mostly be handed out to the teenagers!

QueenC, yes absolutely to bras. I sent mine over in this last shipment.

Thanks Mig.

OneLittleLady · 16/12/2013 12:47

I'll have a clear out over the next few weeks and then PM you for an address to send the clothes to Novice Xmas Smile

libertychick · 16/12/2013 12:55

QueenC one of my brothers has no kids and he moaned about the kids only thing too. My two other brothers who (a) have 3 kids each and (b) don't have huge incomes cheerfully told him to fuck off and grow up! He then maturely said he wouldn't buy their kids anything and they told him it was fine, kids wouldn't notice! Once we did it my mother was hugely relieved as she was finding it stressful buying for 5 adult children and their spouses so she decided to just buy for grandkids only. So yes, slightly difficult conversation but once done it has reduced the stress and expense for everyone.

Love that liberty. I'm sure that I could persuade ILs on side but dh is a big spoilt kid who likes his presents and tells me not to be bah humbug. So I do leave most of the IL shopping to him.

novice will sort out after Christmas and send stuff on.

QueenCadbury · 16/12/2013 13:08

grumpy I just came across these boots whilst looking for something else. They're probably far too frumpy but thought I'd link anyway....

libertychick · 16/12/2013 13:15

And apart from MIL, I don't do anything for DH's family - they are very strange about Christmas and don't do presents at all. Some of them send cards. I think one of the reasons is that DH's brother has 7 kids and no one can afford to buy for them all!! But those kids all draw pictures for DD and send her a big letter updating on what everyone has done that year which is actually nicer than presents IMO. And MIL does a round robin letter which normally I think are a bit naff but her's are utterly hysterical - she has a slightly bitchy sense of humour and she updates on what everyone has been doing and there are lots of little barbs in it - one of the highlights of my Christmas waiting to see what she has said about us and laughing my head off at the comments about everyone else. She takes the mick out of herself too!

Yay! My BA ordered arrived five minutes ago!. Just in time as it's the birthday present for one of my sisters!

Decameron · 16/12/2013 13:26

That's brave of you, Mig, a lot of people would stand by.

Hope your cardigan arrives in time, Queen, it is lovely.

Linus, I would complain again to JL. Lovely skirt. I ordered this shirt and lace top, should be delivered this afternoon.

I don't buy presents for DH's nieces and nephews, only my two brothers' kids. DH's sisters were happy to stop exchanging gifts. I get them birthday presents though and used to spend a lot on them before we had our children.

libertychick · 16/12/2013 13:30

Decam both of those tops are totally gorgeous...I am having to sit on my hands.

OneLittleLady · 16/12/2013 13:34

Love that lace top Decam it's really lovely

Umlauf · 16/12/2013 13:36

I've done it, 5 inches gone Shock I've put a pin up!

Decameron · 16/12/2013 14:17

I've found the lace top here for a better price.

shopafrolic · 16/12/2013 14:22

Got refunded by Brand Alley thankfully…….

OneLittleLady · 16/12/2013 14:23

Good news Shop

My brand alley order turned up today but I will never order from them again. they seem to be going down the pan and I don't have money to throw away so I will look elsewhere.

BrandyAlexander · 16/12/2013 14:49

Phew! Shop. Just Phew! Not worth the stress. I have been ignoring all the emails that I have been getting from them after hearing about your nightmare.

OneLittleLady · 16/12/2013 14:58

Novice I'd definitely ignore them, the hassle of even getting them to answer you is so not worth it. There must be better places to order from than them!
