Yes don't go mad and buy lots just yet!!

I'm packing. Whats the weather like inn the London region? In terms of clothes. I wish BBC weather would say things like, "Tuesday is scattered showers, jeans and a sweatshirt weather. Throughout the week we will be moving into cashmere temperatures, and it will definitely be scarves and hats at the weekend."

Definitely going for this lace dress for my son's Christening, it fits beautifully now the last lbs have gone, but I need NYE help! I have this rather shapely dress I have never worn... Too much?

OneLittleLady · 11/12/2013 18:36

I love that dress Umlauf I don't think it'd be too much at all.

LinusDKD · 11/12/2013 19:07

mig if you have the time go to Borough Market on Friday. It's just a short walk from the Tate Modern.

We used to live within walking distance and loved going there to pick up some nice treats. It can get very busy and maybe it has changed in the five years since we left so maybe the MNV Londoners can give you more up-to-date info. the ones that venture South of the river

shopafrolic · 11/12/2013 19:38

I might have lost nearly £50 to Brand Alley but the tree's decorated! Pics you know where…..

OneLittleLady · 11/12/2013 19:59

Have you not heard back from them other than the generic email they sent you Shop?

Decameron · 11/12/2013 21:01

I love Borough market, we used to live nearby and go every weekend.

It was quite chilly here today, Umlauf, I was in cashmere and Aigle Cuckmere.

DD2 has chicken pox now. :(

QueenC, fingers crossed for the arctic parka, that's a great present.

Shop, if you contact BrandAlley through Facebook, they should reply. I got a full refund for the order I placed in Oct (which never turned up) and though they sent me the incorrect order recently, a replacement is on the way (though we'll see if it is right). You can do a chargeback with your credit card company if they don't reply.

Well done, One, yeah for Debbie Harry!

libertychick · 11/12/2013 21:07

I could knit these for you Shop but given how slow I am I couldn't guarantee you would get them this winter Smile

libertychick · 11/12/2013 21:12

Your poor DD's Decam. Hope they recover soon and are not too itchy.
You are doing so well one - inspiring.
Marsha I've done a couple more runs since then too - has been harder to find time this week with the horrible fog but if all else fails I'll get out on Saturday and Sunday.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 11/12/2013 21:18

Woohoo - packages today! BUT...

  1. Gorgeous Petit Bateau top - I ordered an XS as I usually do when there's that option. I should have checked the size guide as an XS equates to age 12. Hence velvet belt could barely fasten and when it did, it looked more like cheese wire. Will swap.
  1. It turns out the first order I placed for the FC London dress did go through after all and it was not, therefore, necessary to re-order it. Hence two identical dresses arrived in separate packages today and one must go back. But the one I'm keeping is v lovely and v bargainous.

Also found myself in a place with shops (and DH) this afternoon. Dropped hints as subtle as atomic bombs about possible Christmas pressies and he followed me into All Saints while I tried on this coat (pic doesn't do it justice - it looked nicer than the Beaton IRL). I told the sales Assistant that DH was buying it for me for Christmas while he was stood there. So if I don't unwrap it on Christmas morning I'll know he is truly useless.
Oh, and Paypal have sent a payment to Hackett for £160 from my account, even though Hackett apparently cancelled the order. More bloody arse-ache.

QueenCadbury · 11/12/2013 21:23

dec at least you get it all out of the way before Christmas. And better that both have it at the same time.

Well done one.

All the talk of London is making me nostalgic. You definitely need her to see a view of tower bridge if you're doing a greatest hits walk.

shopafrolic · 11/12/2013 21:24

Nothing from Brand Alley other than the generic email - have messaged on FB and twitter. Will wait till Friday and then go via barclaycard. Rubbish! Am so annoyed. Do they not know who it am? Grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 11/12/2013 21:25

Bloody marvellous - just checked my Paypal account and they've actually sent TWO payments of £160 to Hackett for cancelled orders!

I suppose the upside is I'll have £320 coming back to me, but what do I do to get it back? I didn't cancel the orders, Hackett did because they 'had not fully completed'. (I ended up abandoning Paypal and paying with my debit card).

Do I contact Hackett or Paypal? Aaaaargh!

MarshaBrady · 11/12/2013 21:49

God that is terrible Shop, how do they keep selling stuff.

Argh for you Grumpy so annoying too.

Ok love the BLK DNM skinnies. Love em, I may post a pic but if you all say you loathe them then I'll cry and not know what to do, but probably keep them anyway. Grin

But not sure on the dress. So may post a pic. Worried it's a bit 1996.

Got to do the journey eh Shop Wink Grin

shopafrolic · 11/12/2013 21:52

Too right! I want to take every step with you godammit!

MarshaBrady · 11/12/2013 22:06

Alright usual bad pic up.

QueenCadbury · 11/12/2013 22:08

Random non fashion question but do any of you have sash windows (or any single glazed windows) and if so have you done anything specific to make them more secure? I'm a bit freaked as there's been a couple of locl burglaries and I know the sash windows in our dinng room are the weak point.

RubyLovesShopping · 11/12/2013 22:10

Yes queen c we have sashes and have bolts which are drilled into the wood and need a key to unscrew, we also have further bolts which allow them to be opened up to 10cm but no further, these were fitted after and mostly for dc safety but they're a further security measure too.

RubyLovesShopping · 11/12/2013 22:12

Oh and the sash in the first part of our kitchen is painted shutGrinGrin that's quite a deterrent!

RubyLovesShopping · 11/12/2013 22:13

Nothing to do with us just one of the many joys we discovered on moving in. Right, off to pin for Marsha's jeans now.

MarshaBrady · 11/12/2013 22:16

Dress Ruby! I need more help with the dress decision Grin.

Skinnies are staying, for £44 they are bargainous indeed.

shopafrolic · 11/12/2013 22:21

queenC we have sash windows throughout. We have brass handles with locks and also bolts screwed through on some that allow you to open the window a few cm.
You need the compromise between security and still being able to exit your home in case of a fire. If you speak to your local police they should be willing to come to your home to give you some advice. (Cheaper for them than investigating a burglary). Likewise the local fire station will come and check your are fire safe. I speak as a victim of both burglary and house fires in my time.....
a bit like this

shopafrolic · 11/12/2013 22:23

Yes ruby I got our decorator to seal all the lower halves of the windows so that only the top half will open. Can easily be undone at a later date but less scary with DS.

shopafrolic · 11/12/2013 22:23

Can you link the skinnies marsha

RubyLovesShopping · 11/12/2013 22:24

bottega veneta something like this, I love the woven hobo bags but this would fit your laptop.

RubyLovesShopping · 11/12/2013 22:25
