Is this dress an Autumn green, do you think?

ToffeeWhirl · 05/03/2014 17:54

Or maybe this one?

IlonaRN · 05/03/2014 18:59

I've recently been "diagnosed" Sweet Pea Summer, but am reading through all the colour threads. The Summer thread is quiet, but I love looking at all of the ideas here - and I'm so confused, as I thought greeny-bluey colours like teal and petrol would be Summer colours!

Supadupa, that B&Q swatch idea is excellent - I definitely will be copying that!!

RunRunRuby · 06/03/2014 12:48

Hi Ilona, welcome :) shame the summer thread is quiet, is summer less common than autumn?

We have kingfisher and peacock which are both teals, they're quite greenish rather than bluey, I guess the summer teals would be cooler, but I really have no idea! :)

The ASOS camel pencil skirt will have to go back. The fabric is too stretchy and clingy, I know it was cheap but it is not good quality at all. Very thin so that my knickers showed through Hmm so am now on the lookout for a slightly more expensive pencil skirt as it would go so well with lots of my tops.

Does anyone find that they see lots of a particular item in shops/online but then when they decide they want one suddenly there are none to be found? I'm having this problem with camel pencil skirt and also navy blazers Confused

Loving my gold shoes though Grin

Also I'm feeling really inspired by my palette, I still can't quite see the difference with all the colours but I really like the idea of having all my clothes go together, it's something I've always aspired to but then I see things and buy them and they go with nothing. But now I make sure everything tones in with my swatches so I know that they will all work together. Thank you to whoever linked to the Putting Me Together blog (think it was on this thread!) that's really helped me to think about whether something will go with my other clothes, and most radically of all, not buying things that won't go! Grin

RunRunRuby · 06/03/2014 12:49

Toffee those dresses are lovely but sorry I don't feel confident enough with the colours to know if they're definitely right without having my swatches to compare!

missmagnum · 06/03/2014 15:41

I think someone was after an orange coat, just spotted this one

orange coat

Really impressed with Great Plains, I've never looked at the website before, loads of things I love.

Is this top the right blue for autumns?

cobalt?

supadupapupascupa · 06/03/2014 16:08

i wouldn't say that was the right blue, no

lougle · 06/03/2014 16:46

I think that's a winter blue. It's too bold and bright, I think, for Autumn. That coat is brilliant though.

ToffeeWhirl · 06/03/2014 17:03

I love that coat.

Anyone got an idea about my dress yet? (see upthread)

sotiredfornow · 06/03/2014 19:11

Toffee - gorgeous dresses! The Milly one looks very autumn to me (petrol) and stunning. The ALICE one doesn't look wrong. It could be right! So hard to judge on the screen.

sotiredfornow · 06/03/2014 19:32

Has anyone seen any fitted t-shirts and vests in autumn colours?

ToffeeWhirl · 06/03/2014 20:21

Thanks, sotired. I prefer the Alice one, but I'm not sure if the green is too bright. I like the design and pattern.

Sorry, haven't seen any fitted t-shirts/vests in our colours.

Love those 2 dresses & really like that coat too. I really don't need another coat though.

H&m are usually good for vests & t-shirts. Sometimes gap, but for some reason they are really hit & miss with their colours.

Anyone seen any midi dresses anywhere? I want a casual dress that covers my knees!

The orange jumper from asda was too bright, like neon orange so had to go back :(

sotiredfornow · 06/03/2014 21:00

travelin - thanks for that info :)

I'll check out H&M too.

ocelot41 · 06/03/2014 21:09

Toffee, I think the lacey one's a more obvious Autumn colour but much prefer the cut of the Alice dress - it looks younger and more modern. As sotired says it can be really hard to judge colour online, what is their returns service like? I love Issa too but nowhere near my budget range (darn, ideas above my station again...

Travelincolour, thanks for the update. I treated myself to one of their sea green cardigans which is LOVELY. The aubergine trousers were the perfect colour to go with EVERYTHING in my wardrobe but oh my word, they were unflattering so had to go back. V disappointed, they clung to every lump and bump and made me look at least a stone heavier. How frustrating, perfect colour, awful fit. And yes some if the styles are a bit er ageing.... But other bits and pieces good - v pricy for a T shirt tho so thanks for Uniqlo tip!

ToffeeWhirl · 07/03/2014 00:21

Thanks, ocelot. The Alice dress is for hire, so returns are no problem! I like the teal dress you linked to as well.

Those Uniqlo tee shirts are a good price, Travelin.

supadupapupascupa · 07/03/2014 11:57

i'm going bonkers on ebay Shock i need new clothes and have decided to shop within my colours and body shape. Success number 1 is a lovely teal scarf £1.99

TEAL SCARF

supadupapupascupa · 07/03/2014 12:54

ooh another success! Lovely brown wrap dress

supadupapupascupa · 07/03/2014 12:55

I'm thinking i might need to buy a few cami tops as i'm bidding on a few wrap dresses.....

JenniMoo · 07/03/2014 14:14

Supadupa - those are fab buys! I've got a few good bits on eBay and can't wait to start buying again after the style day tomorrow. By searching very specifically you can often find the perfect thing, although sometimes have to keep looking. The saved searches are very useful.

ocelot41 · 07/03/2014 20:52

Great bargains supa!

What do y'all think of this m.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Dresses/Day-Dresses/WH640/Womens-Nancy-Dress.html

Cute and vintage-y or potentially mumsy? Reviews say its more of a mustard than a sunshine yellow. And - I know - its Boden (gets ready to be flung into outer S and B darkness....)

ToffeeWhirl · 07/03/2014 23:13

D'you mean the yellow version of this dress, ocelot? I think it's lovely. I really like the 50s design.

supadupapupascupa · 07/03/2014 23:42

ocelot41 not sure the link is working...
Won another ebay goodie..... here orangey wrap dress
