Hah!

Gamine Ingenue - so I've gathered everything must be structured, simple, fitted, neat, french chic. BUT the ingenue side means I need to avoid the boyish elements of gamine and I can add in some pretty, feminine elements. Prints should be smaller scale.

Sooo, the boden dress kinda fits no? I don't often go for a print to be honest. I'm already drawn to that simple french-chic look but so far as prints go I thought this would be suitable. I'd keep it young with RayBan aviators, small-medium structured tan crossbody and some Topshop sandals.

Am I on the right track Travelincolour?!

To be honest I'm still in the mindset of 'it will do'. Naughty, I know.

JenniMoo · 03/03/2014 11:22

Lougle - I've got style day Saturday too, with travelincolour. So looking forward to it. It'll be the first time I've left my baby boy all day though...

lougle · 03/03/2014 11:33

Ooh then I'll meet you, JenniMoo Smile I'm going to see travelincolour too. She did my colours in February.

Wow, well done!

JenniMoo · 03/03/2014 15:23

That's fab! How did you get the right swatches? Did you take your hoc search book and match them up?

supadupapupascupa · 03/03/2014 16:23

B&Q very kindly arrange all of their colour cards for you. I just picked up all the warm ones and all the rich ones Grin In theory that should cover Autumn and Spring...the obvious spring ones I just left where they were

Hopefully · 04/03/2014 09:03

Supa that is slightly insane but genius! Looks really useful. Don't get too stressed if you love a dress that you only have at 50% though, you're still allowed to buy it Smile.

Ruby that pencil skirt looks seriously useful, and loving the rest of your buys.

Sotired did you enjoy the style day? I hardly ever get IGs, you can congratulate yourself on being unusual Grin. Dress looks pretty good, but as Travel says, maybe add in a pretty necklace or something, and don't go for clumpy sensible shoes.

I am generally wallowing around in late pregnancy blobbiness, living in brown and khaki harem pants, a selection of ginormo-tshirts and scarves in good colours to make me at least look healthy!

schmalex · 04/03/2014 09:34

Ha, Supa, that's amazing!

My orange coat from Topshop was very disappointing. It was absolutely HUGE. I ordered my normal non-pregnant size and it was massive on the shoulders (looked like it should have been my husband's) and comfortably did up around my nearly-9-month baby bump!

Might try this zara one instead.

Hopefully · 04/03/2014 09:54

Didn't someone try the Zara one? Maybe Snowdown? I think she sent it back due to itchiness but said it was nice.

ToffeeWhirl · 04/03/2014 10:07

Yes, someone did send that orange coat back. Can't remember why now.

Have just had to order new jeans. Am not sure which jeans Autumns are meant to wear, but I just ordered another pair of my usual dark blue jeans in the end.

Is there any consensus on which jeans we should wear, Hopefully?

Hopefully · 04/03/2014 10:12

Blue denim jeans aren't an autumn colour, but for some people it's unrealistic to completely abandon them. My advice is normally don't go for anything too pale and icy or too dark and solid coloured (so not solid indigo) - a bit of movement in the colour will help them look more at home with the autumn colours, even if they don't tone perfectly. I'm a fan of coloured jeans as an alternative though.

ToffeeWhirl · 04/03/2014 10:43

Thanks, Hopefully. I have gone for something in between pale and very dark, so I think that meets your criteria.

charitygirl · 04/03/2014 11:18

Interesting Hopefully - My two blue jean purchases since analysis have both been a mid blue with lots of variation in the fade - they just felt right. My indigo ones had to go.

My mid blue jeans look partic good and autumnal when I wear them with a yellow top and my heliotrope scarf. The jeans really aren't heliotrope but it seems to work. Can't wait for warmer weather to wear that combo again!

ToffeeWhirl · 05/03/2014 12:37

The new Hush catalogue has some Autumn colours, if you have the £££ spare (nothing cheap in that catalogue, sadly). Lots of teal and coral.

Hopefully · 05/03/2014 13:27

I liked a lot of the new Hush stuff, but nothing was amazing enough to be worth ordering for me. I wish they would do their ruched skirts in an autumnal colour! Even the grey is such a bluey grey I can't imagine it looking good with autumn colours at all.

charitygirl · 05/03/2014 14:59

I am tempted by the tangerine trousers in the new catalogue. Generally, pants colours as always.

ToffeeWhirl · 05/03/2014 15:04

Yes, I agree Hopefully. I like their stuff, but not enough to spend so much money. And I bought a navy blue dress from them last year which I can't wear because it makes me feel so hot (I mean too warm, not the other sort of hot, sadly! Grin). Cost about £60 too, so was a waste of money.

There is a teal dress that is quite nice, but I suspect it's tipped into the spring/summer colouring as it's so bright. And I'm not sure that sort of unstructured look suits me.

ToffeeWhirl · 05/03/2014 15:05

teal dress

Autumn or not?

ToffeeWhirl · 05/03/2014 15:09

Are these the trousers you mean, charity? They might be on the Autumn spectrum, I think.

charitygirl · 05/03/2014 15:11

Beautiful colour but I'd call that Chinese Blue - which is winter. Def looks too bright to me, and not a lot of green in there, which is essential for teal I think.

Hush are dodgy on colour names - I have their 'charcoal' harems, and they're brown not grey!

ocelot41 · 05/03/2014 16:46

Sigh. I think I am in love.... www.stylebop.com/product_details.php?id=475852&utm_source=SEO&utm_medium=SEO&utm_campaign=SEO%20Germany&partner=oa0165&ia-pmtrack=50440009

But my budget doesn't stretch even to half price Issa. Hope someone else is able to grab a bargain instead!

ToffeeWhirl · 05/03/2014 17:22

Thanks, charity. That makes sense. The teal tee shirt that really suits me definitely has a greeny look about it.

ocelot - I was just looking for a good dress for a lunch party in May. That would fit the bill nicely - if I had a spare £186 lying around Sad.
