Have just ordered this tangerine coat

schmalex · 12/02/2014 15:53

Yes, nearly everything else in there is navy/white!

That coat's gorgeous Snowdown. Wish I could go shopping now - grrr!

Hopefully · 12/02/2014 16:19

It is a fab coat, I was so tempted by it but can't do cocoon shape at all.

Snowdown · 12/02/2014 16:47

That might be a problem for me too hopefully - depending on how cocoon like it is.

schmalex · 12/02/2014 17:03

Hopefully - sorry, slightly OT, but how soon post-preg do you reckon I should do a style day? Do I need to be back to normal weight/shape?

whitecat · 12/02/2014 19:07

A delicious colour snow. You would definitely feel warm and cosy in that.

sotiredfornow · 12/02/2014 19:17

Snow - that coat is amazing. I just wouldn't have the guts to wear and couldn't do the cocoon shape either. I need to emphasise the waist or at least not drown it.

Days like today I really wish I hadn't had my colours done! I'm drawn to this coat - www.asos.com/ASOS-Petite/ASOS-PETITE-Exclusive-Double-Breasted-Coat/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3055181&cid=4177&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Grey having seen a very stylish woman wear something similar.

Hopefully - do you use pinterest? if you're happy for us to follow please post a link! I could do with inspiration. Anyone else have pinterest?

ocelot41 · 12/02/2014 19:26

Ooh hopefully I LOVE that giraffe coat! Not sure double breasted thing works with big norms but it is GORGEOUS!!!

Hopefully · 12/02/2014 19:37

It's fab, isn't it ocelot? Would be v v tempted if I had some spare dosh at the moment.

sotired I do use Pinterest, here I am. I use it for both my businesses/interests, so you'll probably just want to follow the appropriate boards rather than the whole thing (unless quilt sewing does it for you, of course).

Schmalex I had my style done about 5 months post natal, and looking back I wouldn't have wanted to do it much earlier. Not necessarily for the physical side, but the personality side - if you have any sort of nurturing/roll with the punches side to your personality it tends to come out far more in the immediate post natal period, and I think it could potentially (although probably not) lead to the wrong conclusion in certain clothing personalities. Possibly depends if you are getting back to work as well - I wasn't, so had no incentive to get my head out of baby mode, iykwim.

JenniMoo · 12/02/2014 19:47

Good boards - I like quilting, knitting and camping too!

I'm doing the style day in early march just over 6m after having DC2 (and last!) I'm back to work in May though.

schmalex · 12/02/2014 20:34

Thanks, Hopefully. I am probably the least nurturing person ever (poor baby!). But I thought perhaps waiting 6 months might be sensible.

ocelot41 · 12/02/2014 20:36

I got my colours done wuth CMB.not HoC and am a bit baffled when people keep talking about style days. Do you mean what clothes suit your body shape or personality, or is it a bit of both? Intrigued...

ocelot41 · 12/02/2014 20:37

And hopefully I wish you would style me! Such glam boards....

Hopefully · 12/02/2014 20:57

ocelot the style day looks at lots of things, from putting together a capsule wardrobe, shopping effectively, how you want people to see you, and the 'big' bit of the day is putting together your body shape and personality/way you deal with the world into a personal style that really works for you, rather than giving you a one size fits all sort if solution. No need to have had your colours done with a HoC consultant to go and do style with them.

ocelot41 · 12/02/2014 21:12

Hmmm....tempted! Thanks for explaining. Currently I have lots of fitted dresses which I love and wear for work, but feel all adrift in the casual stuff as I hanker after something a bit sharp and tailored that makes a bit of a statement but still need to run around in muddy parks after young 'uns.

End up feeling like a 'blob' at w-ends and loathe, loathe, loathe the whole white stuff/fat face scene with a passion (even though I know its practical). Sounds like a style day could be for me - anyone who is a bit like me who has done it? Thoughts - worthwhile or not? (Apols if this is too much of a thread hijack....)

Snowdown · 13/02/2014 13:27

The orange coat arrived, it's not lined and its lack of bulk means that it falls beautifully rather than cocoons. Size up for longer sleeves. It looks fabulous and a lot more expensive than £69.

Hopefully · 13/02/2014 16:12

Glad you are pleased with the coat snow.

I have a new Chan Luu scarf sitting here waiting to be unwrapped (when my children leave me in peace). I went for eggshell in the end as I think it will be really useful for summer. I am slowly but surely accumulating my post natal wardrobe. Next stop is leopard print sneakers.

charitygirl · 13/02/2014 18:04

Oh hello everybody! What lovely things you are all buying - I would love a Chan Luu scarf but am just too tight. And awesome orange coats and gold boots!

I haven't been feeling the shopping love recently - my wardrobe's looking pretty good and the spring collections with all their unwearable pinks...whatevs.

However, I did want to come and tell you all that John Lewis's own brand 'teal' tights are not teal at all but a perfect autumn navy! V v useful.

Also, Atterley Rd just sent me a £15 off code (PM me if you want it) and so I got this lovely leather bag for £18 inc P&P. I had a cheap orange tote last summer which I used til it fell apart so I'm v pleased to have found a hopefully more durable version - in lovely neon orange!

IHateTheHairdressers · 13/02/2014 18:42

Sorry, am regular on thread but forgot I'd NCed!

charitygirl · 13/02/2014 19:38

Yup - pretty sure they were £7.50.

RunRunRuby · 14/02/2014 19:55

May I join? I'm a very reluctant autumn. I had my colours done last summer but have mostly ignored all the advice as I am not thrilled with the colours Blush so I'm hoping the thread might inspire me a bit and tempt me into a life without black!

TheRaniOfYawn · 14/02/2014 20:08

I am currently too broke to get my colours done but suspect that I am an Autumn. It's either that or a very muted Summer. But I managed to bag a couple of nice things in the Boden clearance today - olive cords and a forest green crinkly shirt. I am hoping they are good.

Hopefully · 15/02/2014 06:35

Run Sorry you're feeling reluctant! Could you 'see' it when you had the analysis? I always think it makes it easier.
